Backstrom re-ups with the Craps for 5/46.....$9.2 million AAV.
I realize this is a lifetime achievement award for playing under market value for some time. But man, I thought Horndog got a nice deal from the Pens at a comparable age (though they're hardly the same kind of players) and this is a full $4 million more per season.

Awesome...hopefully this handcuffs them for awhile. Holtby is due next year so I guess they are hoping Samsonov continues his upward climb , if not they have some serious questions to answer. IMO Holtby is gone (his numbers aren't exactly inspiring this year) , and they sign Samsonov long term regardless.

Ok...No Boudreau firing yet but, Gallant? They were underperforming slightly imo, and teams fire coaches more expediently now but this one seems a bit , um impatient? Something more here? Did he yell at a player or something lol?

gallant got fired after a really good season in florida so perhaps there is something to this.
