Pens -- JAN 2020

The Hill kid played a strong game for Arizona.....and I thought his playing would be a big break

TOI Letang 29:57.....JJ 24:13.....Rusty 23:59......Marino 21:51....Geno 21:28.....Pettersson 20:13......Teddy 19:29

That Conor Garland sure is a cocky little f"*** for a guy who's had 40 career points coming into the game.....and that Hill kid looks pretty good for a 3rd stringer.

Watching in the post game, Guins are 19-4-2 vs the Western Conference this season and 9-8-3 versus the East. Guess the 2nd half of the season won't be quite as successful.....then again, maybe we get a couple first stringers back.

Also, first time they've won a shootout with at least 8 attempts {0-1 with 9 attempts, and now 1-4 with 8 attempts)

Pens are now in 2nd place, 4 points behind the Craps with 1 game in hand......they're 3 points ahead of the 3rd place Isles, who have 2 games in hand.

Just took a gander at the Pens schedule the rest of the season (including # of division games).....including the rest of this month:
  • JAN -- 3 home 3 road (2 Metro -- 1 home 1 road PHL)
  • FEB -- 5 home 8 road (2 Metro -- 2 road WAS)
  • MAR-- 8 home 8 road (13 Metro -- 2 home WAS, 4 CAR, 1 home 1 road NJD, 1 road CBJ, 1 home NYI, 1 home 1 road NYR, 1 road PHL)
  • APR -- 1 home 1 road (1 Metro -- 1 home NYR)
I realize the League wants March to be a grind for everyone headed toward the playoffs; but I myself don't see why it has to be so insanely biased toward divisional play......I mean, why not something just a touch more balanced like, say, 5 division games in February and 10 in March. FWIW, this year, Pens first half divisional play was focused mostly on the CBJ and NYI, while last year it was on the CBJ and WAS.

Meanwhile, the entire 4-game season schedule vs Carolina in March seemed idiotic when I saw it the first time in October, and it doesn't make anymore sense to me today.

More to your point...tonight is the first time Isles/ Rangers have faced each other in over a year?!? Longest time in history of the rivalry. Ya, this is a far from ideal scheduling design. They need to fix it.

Yeah, that's pretty idiotic in its own right......I know scheduling (and by extension, dealing with building availability) isn't the easiest thing in the world to manage. But it seems to me that's why Gawd invented computers; some with more processing horsepower than others.

Here's an interesting development; Kris Letang has apparently been announced as Captain of the Metro Conference All-Stars, replacing Ovechkin who is sitting out. His squad includes Tristan Jarry and Braden Holtby, then Kyle Palmieri, Mathew Barzal, Artemi Panarin, Travis Konecny, John Carlson, Dougie Hamilton, and Seth Jones.

Don't see anyone else who'd be a more likely replacement.....as the choice is usually a veteran......though I admit I'm a little surprised they didn't pick Carlson (if for no other reason, to keep it with a Crap).

I imagine this will throw @Irwineer2 into a bit of a tirade, if he were here? Where the hell is he anyway of late? Bobbling his Tanger bobblehead?

who we going to trade for and when's it going to finally happen?
I'd really like that prick Krieder....but likely too much wanted in return, I'd throw a flyer at Wood outta Jersey however? He seems to have some talent with a bit of a mean streak, although having a down year....who am I kidding though really, we are gonna need GOALS and nobody has the sort of acumen Jake does....

you think they'll wait and try sid with mccan and another roster player first?

the idea of krieder with sid is something tho. they have to get a left winger and right now.

I could see them trying that for sure, but if they are holding Sid back till after all star, I'm thinkin GMJR will do something right around the break based on past dealings...I'd rather him go early if he does in order to give more time for whomever it is to gel...
