Pens -- JAN 2020

What’s up with 53? Teddy is becoming a key cog.

JMO, but he seems to be one of those kids willing to do pretty much anything the coaches ask of him (mostly, to be earning an NHL contract)....and doesn't try to do more than he's physically capable of doing......while developing a very specific, rank-and-file game that good teams need in the Bottom 6 to win.

What's perhaps most surprising to me is he appears currently to be in the 2nd forward unit (behind Geno and Rusty) in overtime. As little as a couple games ago, I found myself incredulous he was playing in OT. All of a sudden.....in combination with another hustle guy who with more pure offensive skills (McCann).....he's become part of a borderline-shockingly effective unit for those times when there's plenty of open skating room.

Back in the early days.....when the team was in the dregs.....they had an Unsung Hero award to recognize contributions of down-the-roster types (like Duane Rupp and Nick Harbaruk) who consistently did good things for the team with little or no recognition. To me, Teddy would be among the favorites this season if such an award existed today.

Meanwhile, reports are that Sid full practiced yesterday for the first time.....evidently leading some to believe he actually might play tonight. I don't know anymore than what I read; but I find it hard to believe he'd be ready to take a regular shift in a game.....and if you read between the lines, it appears Sid expects to do exactly that.....after a single full-contact practice.

I myself would expect him to full-practice at least once more before dressing; though I'm not sure one is scheduled tomorrow at home (approaching the TUE home game with Minnesota). And with the THU/FRI back-to-backer later this week at BOS and DET, I'm not sure they'll practice on Wednesday either.

Guess we'll see soon enough......

Wonder if ANYONE outside Guins fans will show for this 300pm local time (I think) start in Glendale ??

Center Ice here has BOTH broadcasts.....not sure why that's true for us and not you. I mean, it's not like Greater Cincinnati area is an NHL hotbed. Seems to me that broadcast teams in "secondary" League markets like Arizona usually have a reasonable PbP guy, but the color guys/analysts tend to be more cheerleaders than anything else.

2 SOG......guess they weren't especially ready to play in the 1st. Shocked Geno didn't retaliate on that Richardson delayed call, though he tried.

On a side note the Rangers are listening to offers for Georgiev? It must really suck being strapped to that 'King's ' ransom of a contract. Awesome. :joy:

If I were a Rangers fan, I'd be furious at Lundquist for holding the franchise hostage with that NMC (even though he earned it, and the team agreed to it). Fortunately for them, he's only got one more year left on his deal; meanwhile, if I were GM of the Rangers, I'd sit on Giorgiev unless somebody knocks my socks off with a deal......which I don't personally think is going to happen.

Personally. I think that's exactly what Jeff Quinn is doing m

Oh for sure...he did earn it, they were silly to offer that term, and he sure as heck ain't earning it now...personally it makes me ecstatic, I despise that asshat, and the longer that jackass org is in purgatory the better...

I didn't hear the quote......and maybe I'm giving the guy too much credit......but could the announcer have meant he was PHYSICALLY skating with the Cup in San Jose (which he would have been).??

He was physically skating with it in SJ...however it was not 'The Pens 2nd' if he were referring to the back to back it would have been the 1st as we know, and if not it woulda been the 4th...but whatever I'm probably being fussy. I can be that dick at times lol.
