Pens -- JAN 2020

I guess they were due for a performance like this..it would typically make me all angry, but they've done enough to placate that anger over the last few months...flight to Detroit tomorrow and a must win game considering the competition. I'll miss it damnit but will check in to see what's up gents...

I had that same feed and punched myself in the balls when I heard that sh!t.
My condolences you had to listen to ALL of that broadcast like myself....do these guys actually watch the game? It was the worst...next time I am hooking up the radio and trying to synch it...I honestly can't state too many times how awful it was to sit through....

This is a SH!T show. I already tired of the ridiculous behind the back passes. Crosby comes back and suddenly everyone wants to put on a show vs doing what they did for the last 29 games

Lots of shots from the pens found the boards and glass. Horny had a few great chances and missed the cage. Honestly the creativity is fun to watch but it isn’t the game 16 of the penguins should be playing.

The jerseys at auction tonight...
The Malkin is a 2010 AllStar, at 275, still sitting, The Tocchet a B's one which threw me a bit at 225 sitting, and The MacKinnon started at 275 which I thought a serious bargain is now at 350 and climbing....

I don't participate in memorabilia auctions, but I can't deny that MacKinnon would have been compelling to me.....

Obviously glad the Guins survived the trap game last night.

Pretty boring performance all the way around for both teams, but Howard was sure looking impenetrable as the game progressed. Fortunately, Murray didn't give the Dead Wings much reason to believe they could actually score the second goal.

Watched the Detroit post game, and even legendary homer (almost as bad as the Broons guys) Mickey Redmond couldn't get over the high level of execution on the Geno shot-pass to Sid for the winner. Made it a point to talk not just about the sheer accuracy of Geno's pass, but the amount of lower hand strength Sid showed on his stick to be able to SO effortlessly redirect that bullet into the goal.

As per a few of your queries...no Frieds unfortunately but...via the head of the party last night, who is still widely connected.... 'Yes the equipment is making a difference for many one way or another just look at the numbers' . The contract demand is not really heard of but the feel is they will try for a one and he wants two year deal on Murray at close to the same numbers, and deal with expansion issues as they come, if they go two, and he will not be traded. They are trying to deal Casey, WERE trying to deal Tristan and having a hard time of it now that it is only Casey on the table....I drank a fair amount last night (surprise), and this is pretty much the breadth of what I remember. The biggest thing for my end was I was rather ecstatic to learn the intention is to keep these two netminders together for the playoff run...competition!

Just a quick non-Guins tidbit before today's game; did you happen to catch that Elvis Merzlikins......who appeared earlier this season to be totally unready for the NHL.....had his 3rd shutout in his last 4 starts last night for the Blojax ??

I could feel better for the kid if it wasn't Torts benefiting......meanwhile, looks like Murray in the cage today versus the Broons.

What the hell happened??? I planned on tuning in for the 2nd...not sure now...

I was in the shower for the first, then coming out for the second. In watching the replays, I'm not sure either meets the strict definition of a "softee": but both could probably have been handled by a goaltender who felt sharp and ready to play from the getgo.

Now the 3rd.....and Jack Johnson was lost both on the 1st (chased the puck, leaving his zone uncovered) and 3rd (puck watching).

Why is it every damn time (it seems to me), that when Sid or Geno come back the rest of em decide to take a full on holiday for a few weeks???

All of a sudden, Simon looking like a goalscorer the last week after missing open nets for 3 months. Obviously, needed something good to happen.....

Well here was the bone thrown at 30 to at least share the net it seems and evidently he didn't want to take it. Ugh...he's gonna have to completely shut the door here on out and pray his mates can find a way to pot quite a few...

Do you agree with Eddie O that Murray should be replaced ?? I think I do: doesn't really appear to me as though he regained much composure. Maybe I feel differently without the 3rd GA.....

I wish I could comment as I didnt see the goals...but 3 on 16 shots doesnt inspire much confidence for the 2nd and 3rd. Watching intermission now hopefully some replays
Edit: the first one I wish he either stood tall or got totally low on coming across, he looked like a crumpled mess, the 2nd was a wired shot that he did not look ready on.
The 3rd I cant fault him on, however if at least one of the first two were saves Eddie likely doesnt make the suggestion.

Neat how people who know the game (like Eddie O) can immediately recognize Sid's bang-bang, through-the-legs back pass to Teddy......who continues his strong play......before the rest of us see it for the first time on replay.

Of course, he DID play in the League for 15 years and was a head coach, so maybe that explains it :flushed:
