Pens-Sens

I missed the 1st period driving home from work but the national radio guys on Sirius called for a penalty and were baffled there wasn't one. not sure what Keith jones was watching. Throw in another concussion and non call. It's getting beyond ridiculous.

Huge, huge win! What a gutsy and courageous performance all around. And just like I predicted an unlikely hero emerges. This is what happens when you, "play on your toes" as Sully likes to say. Now let's regain home ice and punish those dirty bastards!

From what I can tell, Jones figured since Ryan didn't extend his elbow......and since Ruhwedel was on his way down......there can't/shouldn't be an elbowing call even though he permanently imprinted Ruhwedel's temple. But while I can't disagree more with that particular analysis, it also doesn't begin to explain for even a micro-second why he didn't draw a charging or boarding penalty (if not a double minor, due to the nature of the injury).

Previously, I liked Jones better than you guys; but he lost a fair number of points with me last night with that particular rationalization.

The NHL is becoming a joke. Letang gets a game suspension last year for a hit to the chest in the center of the ice that was a nanno second late and Ryan doesn't even get a penalty. And good grief do the Sens get away with a ton of holding and interference or what? I'm just glad Cole went ape shit crazy on him.

Same guy who said the Niskannen hit on Crosby was a clean play. Along with Eddie O. who said it shouldn't have even been a two-minute minor.

DK's Josh Yohe reporting today that, of the three key Game 3/4 injuries, Schultzie may be the closest to returning.......and apparently is at least a possibility for Game 5.

Horndog and Rusty are still being called day-to-day, while I assume Ruhwedel will be classified similarly at such a time when a determination is announced.

With Ruhwedel now out Shultz returning would be huge. Also, it was good to see Hags and Daley flying around out there. I was impressed with both and thought Daley did a solid job at the point of the PP.

Man that would be sweet if Shultzie could slot in with Ruhwedel's absense whom I must say has done fairly well under the circumstances...a couple of other things noticed from last night...Daley looked considerably more up to speed, and the D were making some VERY smart decisions in getting the puck up quick, with that chip off the wing at least a half dozen times.
The wife's take (which I cant disagree with), 'Geno looked monster like at times carrying the puck and battling, Sid was everywhere, and contributing, and what got into Bonino tonight? Noticed him quite a bit, in a good way'...boy oh boy is this next one important guys....

Agreed Ron...Daley REALLY looked a different man than game 3...so happy to see that! And yep Hags seemed awfully busy...these guys are finding a way!

After last night, your guess is as good as mine regarding how this series will end up.

Both teams have proven they're good enough to beat the other at home or on the road. Pens have better pedigree, Ottawa has more players......I think coaching is now a wash, after HCMS did everything right last night while Ottawa showed the first cracks in its armor.

If last night is an indication that Sid indeed is getting back his game.......and, just as importantly, Karlsson is indeed starting to slow down......then the advantage probably shifts to the Pens, particularly with home ice back on their side. But there's no possible chance this series is over yet. In a series as close as this one, Game 5 is ALWAYS the most important.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering......given all the fun the Canada media had surrounding the problems they were convinced the Pens had with Geno and Kessel's screaming at one another the other night......if they think all of last night's bitching between Karlsson and Turris was equally so.

Per DK, Kuhnhackl and Ruhwedel definitely out, while Horndog, Rusty, and Schultz are still being called game time decisions. Man, would it be nice to see ANY of those three......but probably Schultzie the most......in the lineup today. Meanwhile, Burrows remains out for Ottawa, while Borowiecki is evidently preparing to return for Game 6.

Schultz skated in pregame, but won't dress. Streit in for Ruhwedel.

Might have been slightly screened by Pageau, but still a horrible GA by Anderson to anything but an offensive force on the Pens D (well, at least not until Game 4).

But pays it back a little on the Hagelin breakaway.....

And how good does it feel to chase their goalie from the net? Goal awarded to Rusty apparently after review...i feel bad for the ex Pen Condon if our lads keep it up....oops and!!!! LOL!!!

So, Flower loses his starring role in the sitcom "As the Goalmouth Turns" as Craig Anderson's picture goes up on the marquee today. Wonder if anyone pulling for the Sens North of the border will notice ??

Pierre has already called out the soft PIM calls the Sens received in the last game, while the Pens aren't getting the same courtesy today.

Milbury is griping about the Stone slashing call as chicken-shit; I missed it so I can't comment. But maybe that one evens it up a bit....meanwhile, in my estimation, they still owe the Pens a couple for covering Ryan for his search and destroy on Ruhwedel.

Pens up 4-0 and during the intermission Mike Milbury bitching about the penalty on Hoffman that negated the Sens power play. What a joke these guys are.

I'm thinkin Sens fans are simply livid bout now...lol

First time this series where momentum has REALLY turned on the Sens......considering how confident they were as recently as the dinner hour on Friday, I'm sure I'd be pissed (and also bummed) less than 48 hours later too if I pulled for the Sens.

Oh, and there's nobody.......not Boucher, Eriksson, Anderson, Methot, Phaneuf, or even Ryan......who I'm pulling for the Pens to bury quite as deeply as that ****ing Eugene Melnyk. Oh, and the NBC guys were talking about Karlsson getting some rest time with the game currently out of reach.

Keep an eye out for that....
