Pens-Sens

The good guys have dominated the last two games getting many good looks. everything has opened up and getting the injured guys back has been awesome. The sens only hope is to clamp down As you mentioned and win a tight one. . Even then I think the pens are hitting on all cylinders and it may not be enough. The D has tightened up and daly looks incredible back from injury. Murray, one goal in 5+ periods. what else can you say.

Haha , Somehow I skipped over the 3-2 win, but murray's been solid since coming back! Too many ipa's today!

How you feelin hbeacheer? After today's beat down I think The Sens know damnwell what they need to do Tuesday, they will revert back to likely their biggest trap effort to date, they have no choice, it's what has given them 2 games, not to say they didnt try this off the hop tonight, but the Pens were just too quick for them, and THANKS Rusty for bringin some speed in your return from injury!....If Karlsson is back I expect a tough sled but still a victory...late in game...[/QUOTE]

Meanwhile....one more here...what did you guys think of the Captains performance tonight and even last game? He started out damn slow but then seemed to get right engaged in the pile on...I am looking for a solid effort outta him on Tues night...we will need him to play smart and effective, i expect to see the Turris attempt at the leg sweep all game long in the FO circle...he needs to overcome it. Pens will need to control these draws as best they can on the road...
congrats toronto 7-0 but next time instead of kicking the extra point go for the 2 point conversion.

Keith Jones surprises me, but Assclown Milbury said it could have been penalized but he did not think it was worth of a suspension. F'in amazing!

I am perplexed as to why the NHLPA don't force the league to get tough on head shots. Does somebody need to permanently disabled or killed before the league actually takes head shots seriously?

As to the game, 7 different scorers and none named Malkin .....what a team effort. Too bad Rowney couldn't bury one. Heck of a game from a career AHL guy.

I know as Pens fans we understand the importance of the concept of team defense. But my gosh were the forwards stellar in their back-check the last two games after the game 3 debacle. I can think of one breakdown where a Sen was left unchecked and took a juicy rebound uncontested (MM stopped the shot). Otherwise the Pens have been generally disciplined and tenacious on the defensive end to the point where Maatta and Hainsey aren't looking as slow!! (amazing how the defensemen look better when the forwards help isn't it)

And could somebody with more hockey knowledge than me explain why the Sens sat in that 1-3-1 last night when they were losing? Maybe they reverted back to it in the 3rd when the game was over just to re-set their game plan. Admittedly I didn't pay much attention in the 2nd period but it seemed odd to watch the Sens allow the Pen D to sit back and toy with the puck in their own end.

I sincerely believe the Players don't......as a group......want to admit they're not tough enough to withstand head shots. And of course, the owners don't want any part of the discussion to begin with.

The poster child for the problem is obviously Sid, and he hasn't been able to move the needle with the game. So, I guess it means the only guy capable of doing it will be McDavid; unfortunately, he's going to need to miss half a season for it to matter.

Horndog and Schultz skated today but didn't practice.....Wilson has evidently had NO residual effects of the Wingels elbow.
Trib reporting Wingels not suspended, but Boucher not playing him. HCMS stated none of the good guys, other than Wilson, Coming back for tonight's game.
Another valiant effort needed. Need to win this thing without giving the Preds two extra days of rest.

I still cannot believe there was no suspension for this.

C'mon Euell, you've watched this goofy game long enough to know......when it comes to supplemental discipline......there's no such thing as a logical decision. Meanwhile, with my previous suspicion......that Wingels was going be a healthy scratch......confirmed, the subject is now officially moot.

I'm feeling it tonight boys! Pens gonna end this shit tonight! Sens will try and muck it up and slow us down thru the neutral zone and Pens may even trail in this game but eventually our depth wears them down and we get it done. Big game Rusty will be the #1 star with a couple goals. Let's go Pens!

This head-hunting nonsense and reckless open ice hits will eventually drive me away from watching the game. I like a hard, legal hit as much as the next guy but at the speed in which the modern game is played, changes must be made. I have been watching this game since mask-less Andy Brown days. Players are just bigger and faster and the hits cause far too much damage to allow headshots, charging, and boarding.

I am nervous.....I am not sure why but I am.

Coverage of this game has been strange; on NHLN, the talk from the analysts has been constant about how many teams in these playoffs have won big, then turned around and lost the next game. Meanwhile, fans calling into the talk shows seem to feel the series is done tonight.

It's virtually impossible for Ottawa to come out as bad tonight as they did Sunday. But one thing about this series has really reversed to a borderline shocking extent since this time last week; then, it was the Pens who were praying for an early lead. Now it's the Sens who can't stomach the idea of being forced to play from behind.

Should be a very compelling game; I think I'd bet on Ottawa tonight even up, but I won't be the least bit surprised if the Pens win. Will also be interesting to see how well Eriksson is moving; I myself don't think he would have sat on Sunday had the game been close. But there's little doubt in my mind his physical tank has begun to run dry.

I too dont expect the Sens to come out flat footed, I'm not quite sure how to read into this one fully. I do like Ron's take however! He seems to often come up smelling roses...Let's Go Pens...close em out...I'm ready for Music City!!! :boxing:

FYI as of a few hours ago there were actually tickets left!...same thing happened on a week night last series. I am curious as to how they spin it this time locally in Ottawa...there is no question the arena is a complete bitch to get to on a weeknight with traffic but an 8pm start should really alleviate that somewhat...personally imo alot of it has to do with the pricepoint they have set this round. Given it is Canada, BUT it is still a pretty small market. My ticket for a lower corner goal line, 7 rows up in the end the Sens shoot once was just over $350 Canadian stamped on it PLUS fees, I bought aftermarket as soon as the Pens were announced the opponent at $230 each US plus fees...by my math with exchange (Cdn dollar at bout .74 US)? The fella actually took a loss. Roughly same seats in The Burgh last year vs Tampa were $225 US each and I believe that was slightly above face...also, there are still plenty of B's , Leaves, and Habs fans in the general area who really never switched aliegeance to the Sens all those years back...

I admire the kids effort, and he is talented no question...but he just stretched Oh Canada out to twice the length it should be...who teaches these young singers nowadays anyway?...yeah I know...bigger things to gripe about...

Maybe Sid pays back the Stone cheap shot elbow by giving HIS thumb the Marc Methot treatment....

Did anyone hear if Borowiecki is dressed for Ottawa ?? I think not, because probably two Guins would have been permanently planted into the boards in the first 7 minutes.

Updates all afternoon today were saying a "couple thousand" tix remained. The consensus was the game WOULD sellout, but evidently that's not the case. There's been an awful lot of reporting over the past couple weeks about the Sens ticket selling problems; I honestly had no idea it was as bad as its been.

Makes me wonder why developers thought a 19,000+ seat building in such a small market (and in such an inconvenient area) was a good idea.

How much time on that PP did the Pens kill just throwing it around the perimeter......at least 45 seconds ??

Anderson looking pretty confident tonight; he appears as though he's going to be tough to beat. All the more reason why Murray needs to play his best game of the series tonight
