Listening to Grapes on Jeff Sammut's SXM Canada Now.....

Claims he would have issued a statement of sorts, but basically decided he wasn't willing to eat shit (my words, not his) to the extent Rogers wanted in order to keep his job. He keeps saying he's not whining about the decision.......though he continually repeats he's been on the air for 38 years.....but on balance, I think that's true. Said "if you're going to act the way I do you gotta be willing to pay the price".

Said he's "disappointed" in Ron McLean's public response......also took a few mild shots at Dave Hodge. On balance, it's the same Grapes today as it was before the incident.

Nope it isn't. Had he kept it non political and simply stated wear a poppy to support our vets and active members he woulda got the standing O. His shtick is making it political. Always has been. I've got plenty of Con and Lib friends ( I identify with neither of those crooks for the record), who said enough was enough and the correct decision was made. Hell the numerous Legion reps, and The Chief Of Defence support the decision as well. As I say I tuned him out long ago anyway...nothing but constant bombast with zero substance imo.

Nope not really... it's the time factor. I find the BL pretty worthwhile. Heck I really dont go on many of the actual Pens or sordid pro hockey boards anymore either. I get most of what I need from you bunch of lugheads here :wink:, and chat with local friends/neighbours...

Thats not the problem he suggested that immigrants don't. How does he know that? There were Canadian immigrants who were non citizens who fought for Canada and he insulted those people. It would have been more appropriate to say all citizens should support the troops.

Need Murray to hang tough and keep it at 0-1 until his teammates finally catch up with the Rangers.
 
The first ranger goal was typical Murray. Is there a nhl goalie that is this bad at breakaways? Sometimes you got to change it up and get aggressive. Poke check once in a while maybe
 
Rossi reporting that Sid aggravated a sports hernia on Saturday night that he's been dealing with since camp. Could try and rest through it along with pain meds, or have surgery which supposedly takes 4-6 weeks (or so) to recover. Sid was said to have passed on surgery earlier because of the team's rash of early injuries.

The team is said to want him to have the surgery now so that he'll be ready for the 2nd half of the season.....JMO, would be silly for him to try and rest through it and probably deal with it in some regard all season (and then probably have to have surgery anyway in the off season).

I'll be in Philly much of next week, so I won't be able to help on Tuesday.......but returning home on Thursday; so unless my flight is late departing PHL/arriving CVG, I'll see most of the THU game at NYI and the Friday game with the NJD

I need you guys to cheer em on extra Sat eve...I wont be tuned in to see the victory. I need to basically throat punch everyone around here for the next few months...let it happen.

Btw play Jarry on Fri...he will surely be at least the measure of those shitsack Jersey (think they want Kincaid back now lol) goalies. I want our #1 in the cage vs the Leaves...it makes it all the better rubbing it in afterward....

Speaking of the Jersey shitsacks...they did a fair amount of wheeler/dealer and signing this off season with Subban and Simmonds...Taylor Hall has to be pissed with those results thusfar lol

Not sure if you guys heard about Taylor Hall taking the NJD fans to task a couple weeks back for their bad treatment of the team; in conjunction with his only-fair stats (2/13/15 in 17 games thus far), he hasn't exactly ingratiated himself to the locals this season.

Of course, it doesn't help his agent has given Shero the middle finger with regard to re-signing. From eveything I've heard thus far, his agent believes philosophically that all free agents should play out the season rather than sign early.

OTOH, if Hall was dying to stay with the Devils, I can't imagine the two parties couldn't have found at least some common ground before now. Thus far, I don't get the impression Hall really wants much to do with New Jersey after this season. I mean, he was never very pleased with his trade to NJ to begin with, even though it resulted in his winning a Hart.

JMO, but I'd be willing to bet nobody will throw a bigger offer at him next summer than Columbus.

PHN reporting Geno and Rusty are up to the first line to play with Jake........would be nice to see 3-4 points from that group tonight. Meanwhile, no word as of late afternoon as to who's in the Pens goal tonight; Blackwood supposedly starting for Jersey.

I missed most of last night's telecast...... hope to skate through it on DVR today......but understand there was discussion between periods that the game was thought possibly to be an audition for a Jarry to the Leafs deal.

Wonder if that's actually possible; and if so, how much might the Leafs actually be willing to pay for him ??

I think they have screwed themselves. Too much money tied up in Marner, Matthews and John T. The leafs don't have a cup caliber D Core. They don't have the cap flexibility to upgrade. The leafs would have been better of with Lou as GM. Guy knows how to build contenders. If the isles can find 1 more legitimate scoring threat they would become a serious contended with the D core they have. Leafs need and entire unit.
