Pens -- NOV 2019

This team can’t win anything with Murray in goal. I’m sorry he isn’t the reason they lost tonight but make a GD save dude. It is so rare the last 2 years to say Murray stole one for the pens. He is an average keeper these days.

NOBODY viewed Yuk as a particularly valuable property coming in......Pens had to take him in order to move Kessel without any salary retention.

Listening to Lange and 2-niner here in the hotel.....Pens outshot 17-6 in the 3rd, and 5-0 in OT. Meanwhile, no clue if any of the 3 straight goals the Isles scored in the last 6 minutes of play were soft.

He had a chance on the tying goal. The third goal was stoppabe. The penguins play the last 9 minutes was unbelievably terrible. They kept getting caught on the ice for long shifts. Terrible passing. Poor decisions.

But an .880 save % today and .913 for the season is good for 22nd in the nhl. He just can’t steal a game when you need him to IMO

It's the Flower attack squad that bugs me...and I know you the most...did not see last night (I am getting full and drunk in Southern Italy) , however 30 seems to go in ebbs and flows, he'll be lights out for 5-10 stretch games and then regress a bit. Is he the best in league ? Certainly not...is he good enough? The answer is with this offence firing as it SHOULD be yes... he hit the 5 game stretch in Oct, I wanna see him do it again in Dec. No Sid he's gonna have to steal a game or 2...
As for Bobby, he's had a bit of a tumultuous stint hasn't he...all the talent in the world and just not able to harness it consistent. I wish him well on recovery.

murray made a lot of great saves last night. easily could have been 3 or more goals. a lot of yinzers crying about him today but in reality he made 37 stops and there were some darn good ones in there.

for as well as the pens are playing, they sure are having trouble finishing. they fell apart in the third period, going through long stretches in their own zone.

And this is my major issue with the usual fan (FB fan I guess), it's all on the D and goaltending all the time. What about the thoroughbred goal scorers we have up front? When does it fall on them for a change? Every damn team in the league complains about their D and more specific, goaltending....except for Flower of course, he is the all time Vezina winner. Should be named the Flower Trophy , till you look at ACTUAL STATS. This bunch just cant let it go cause he smiled and did a bunch of cartwheels in the concourse.

when you don't know hockey, blame the goalie, when you don't know football, blame the quarterback. - mark madden

that stop by fluery was pretty good but I wonder what vegas fans remember most, that stop or the 3rd period collapse vs san jose last spring. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yes...unfortunately I am not at home to feel the full breadth of this epic meltdown amongst the asshat faithful...after all the bravado on how they hired the best of the best? And how wonderful they would be....they can collective go suck a big one now. Funny enough none of them want to engage via text etc...now why would that be? :joy::joy::joy:

I bet they play well now.

So what the hell happened? I see a low shots total for the Isles....ugh.

pens played pretty well, considering all the injuries. pens took some very bad penalties in the 3rd (geno although he has been better at this, teddy bluger gets 2 minutes for jumping a face off with less than 5 to go in third. isles scored about 3 seconds into that pp, pens battled to tie it and murray gave up a terrible one in OT.

for as well as the pens are playing, they aren't getting any puck luck, or any other kind of luck for that matter. that bluger penalty was terrible.

Not that anyone asked, but I was far more upset after the loss in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night than I was this morning. Just too bad they're having trouble winning in regulation time, because they just don't have enough skill these days to win 3 on 3 or in the shootout.

Like everyone else, I was upset the way Murray played......if that's what you want to call it.....Brock Nelson on the OT game winner. But he made some falrly strong saves in the 3rd when the Isles were pressing. I thought PHN described it reasonably perceptibly (even if I don't happen to agree 100%): it's hard to find fault with Murray unless you're predisposed to do so.

BTW, for all the guff GMJR received for some of his off-season moves, it seems pretty clear to me now they were all intended as a means to offset how the Islanders spanked them in the playoffs. With a full lineup, I'd absolutely take my chances in another 7 game series with the Isles this year.

Meanwhile, not sure what the Guins will have left tonight. The Devils unsurprisingly are putting Mackenzie Blackwood back in goal after his best game of the season versus the Pens last week in Newark. And eveyyone's current favorite, Tristan Jarry, is finally back in the Pens goal for the first time (I think) since his last performance in that goaltending abortion which cost them the Bruins game.

In the aftermath of last night's performance, PHN is calling for Tristan Jarry to be given the chance to fully challenge Murray in goal. Not sure if Kingerski thinks he knows something......or is just figuring 2+2=4......but he's basing this off both Jarry's play and his belief that Murray has always proven to be better when challenged.

We'll see if it happens......at this point, I can't see how much down side there is in the near term by giving Jarry some more PT.

Yep...push Murray. Give Tristan the playing time at this juncture at least until he loses one imo...#30 has to be better

Letang reportedly back to FULL practice (including contact) this morning; no current theories yet as to what that means regarding his return to the lineup.

Was just wondering how likely would it have been that Letang was all-of-a-sudden back at practice......with ZERO advanced theories from Pens media......if Schultzie wasn't out on LTIR.

Presumably, whether he dresses tomorrow against Calgary......or WED vs Vancouver......will tell us something. Meanwhile, if the Schultz situation has ANYTHING to do with it, I'd argue they might be better off going fairly slow with him in advance of the upcoming back-to-backer next FRI/SAT at CBJ and STL.

FYI, Kahun is 6-4-10 in his last 11 games; very nice to see him rounding into shape as a valuable member of the roster after his rough start. Now, if they can only find a way to start getting something out of Yuk, who I honestly thought WAS getting off the snide Friday night (and got CLOSE, but just couldn't cash in).

Speaking of Yuk......according to DK.....he was still working on the #2 line in practice yesterday with McCann and Tanev (who's finally been elevated from the Buzz Line). Horndog was skating on the #3 unit with Simon and Kahun. And with Letang back at practice, Marino has evidently been dropped to the #2 pair with JJ.

Meanwhile, welcome aboard Weirton.......hope you hang around, as we need a new knucklehead or two around here to keep things fresh and mixed up ;)
