Pens Offseason/ rest of NHL playoffs

How is the weather down yonder with you guys anyway this spring? We will FINALLY break 60 this wknd then it dumps back down into the low 50's. I have cut the lawn ONCE thusfar not that it needed it but to simply do something and mulch up a bunch of leaves and the odd dogshit bomb I missed...I'm done with this garbage weather.

we actually had spring this year. its been kind of mild with little rain up until these last two weeks after easter. now I'm having trouble finishing my season by the wpial deadline next wedneday.

Wonderful weather here! 70's and 80's. I mowed the grass Monday and it could almost use it again. Chance of rain the rest of the week. Trying to figure out when is the best day to get to Mon. Co. Ballpark to watch a game in this TCU series. If I lived a little closer, I would have season tix for Mounties and Black Bears. I love that ballpark. Now, let's go Blue Jackets! Sorry "T!"

A$$wipe Marchand gets his 2nd penalty of the night. Blue Jackets need to tie it up right here!

Let's go Jerks.......send Trotz home for the summer tonight
Meh...I have been dealing with a Bruins joker over the last couple days who has reminded me (several times) 'your losers got swept by a team that is about to get the broom themselves!'...I'd enjoy an Isles win or 2 so the wanker will shut his yammer.

In saying that, can somebody explain to me how these Isles managed to score on the Pens and they can't find the twine for the life of them now? It wasn't the goalkeeping on the whole imo, it was decent. Must have been that all world D that GMJR keeps praising....well , that and a bunch of lazy ass forwards to 'help' ...ugh.

When is 'dog day ' at the ballpark? I know one doggie who always enjoys the ballgame!

Move him!
Yep...He is so talented (also stupid quite often), but has gotten super lazy of late. When I see a minus 25 this year compared to a pretty sizeable plus last few years? I could say it was a blip BUT, we all watched him this season...it is no blip, he has checked right out. I have some issues with some of Sully's coaching this year but enough of these coach killers. He's officially an asshole that needs to find a babysitter elsewhere imo.

Isles are done. Canes have dominated play most of this series. How the hell did we get swept by the Isles?

Got sucked hook, line, and sinker into the teeth of what Trotz did best with his roster, and didn't have the scheme (or the skating, or the internal fortitude/discipline) to adjust. Also helped that Lehner didn't.....at least not that I can recall.....make a SINGLE mistake in the entire series.

Canes had MUCH better wheels than the Pens, and were either FAR better coached (or were more willing to buy into what Brind'amour was selling to them). I also find myself wondering it the Isles overvalued in their own minds how good that sweep over the Pens REALLY was in the grand scheme of things.

Nobody asked me, but I think a Malkin deal......in spite of my previous comments about one to either Buffalo or Florida after t's comments from his GM buddy.....really isn't anymore likely to happen today than it was the last time(s) it was floated about.

I value your insight very much. However, this time I hope you are wrong and they move him, the sooner the better. Of course, as I understand it, he has a no trade clause so would have to agree to any trade.

Not buying in the past couple of seasons seems to be the overriding theme. Need to get rid of a couple of these "coach killers" as I believe my friend "T" referred to them a couple of days ago. I certainly don't agree with all of the moves HCMS makes, but to my novice eyes I think he is a decent coach. It would be difficult at times I imagine to deal with all of the big egos.

Never confuse my comments around here, Euell, with insight rather than what it really is; simply one fan's bullshit opinion..... :grimace:

For the record, I would have no problem with a Malkin trade, but I myself think his reputation took a pretty big hit this year......and he'll be 33 before he goes to camp this fall. Meanwhile, we all know it's virtually impossible to get what you consider anything even approaching equal value when you're selling low; plus the circumstances have to be virtually ideal for the trading partner to take on the $28.5 million he's owed over the next 3 years (especially because I doubt GMJR can afford to retain salary to make a deal happen otherwise). And, all that's before anyone begins to address his NMC.

Unless it's a pure salary dump (to a team like Buffalo or Florida) with limited demands on returning assets, I just think there are way too many hoops thru which GMJR has to jump to make a Malkin deal happen. Mario may have settle for bringing him back to Pittsburgh early from Russia in order to spend a full month or two on a psychiatrist's couch.

Oh, in case you guys were wondering......now that the Jerks have sent the Isles home......I'm pulling for (in alphabetical order) Boston, Colorado, and Dallas (though I won't be PO'd personally if the Sharks beat the Avs).

Since (lucky for you guys) I haven't been on much the last couple weeks......been traveling a bit, plus we buried my mother-in-law last weekend in Huntington.....I wanted to get you guys' current take on this notion that John Davidson is/will be leaving Columbus to replace Slats with the Rangers.

That idea would seem to represent a pretty easy buy-in to most yahoos like me; but I do wonder to what extent the Blojax' unexpected playoff success might have JD thinking otherwise. I realize he's got the connection to the Rangers; and for all I know, loves NYC more than anyplace in the universe. And of course, there's the Breadman/Bob situation which, like most, I assume has no Ohio-centered solution.

But you have to think he's in a position to angle for a pretty nice raise right now......which would go a lot farther in Central Ohio than Manhattan.....and from everything I can tell from a distance, he really likes it there. Maybe the Breadman/Bob thing represents enough incentive in itself to bolt, because their camp this summer is a pretty different place with those two guys playing elsewhere. Of course, there's a strong chance JD ends up with Panarin playing for him next season in NYC anyway.

OTOH, if he stays, he'd still have Anderson, Atkinson, Dubois, Jones, and Werenski as his pretty strong core; plus I'm more or less assuming Duchene will likely hang around Columbus to spend most of the big dollars they'd hoped to give to Breadman. Will be interested to see if they decide to simply go with Korpisalo and a re-signed Keith Kincaid in goal. But who knows; maybe Bob has quietly fallen back in love with Columbus again, now that he's starting winning playoff games (and has regained his local folk-hero status).

Anyway, if I were a betting man, my money would still be on JD going back to NYC.....even though that might not be the smartest move professionally.

I am close to 100% certain JD would take less to go back home to Manhattan and play the hero. It is still in his blood imo. My condolences on your family issues in terms of your Mom in law...moreso to your wife who I am sure is out of sorts of late. Take care... not easy.

Fun fact....Grubauer and Jones? Not the first time they have met with all on the line...2010 Memorial Cup. Jones Calgary bowing out early. Grubs winning it all with the Spits.

Who do you guys like today between the Blues and Stars ??

While I admit I'm pulling for the Stars, my gut tells me the Blues will force the 7th game. Meanwhile, haven't seen too many less interesting SC games than B's and Blojax thru 2 last night, nor many as purely upside down.....well, since the Game 7 major with the Knights and Sharks, at least......in the last 10 minutes.

Speaking of that Knights/Sharks game, did I hear correctly in the aftermath that the 4 goals the SJS scored on that PP hadn't happened in 40,000 League games ??

Just read a piece on DK concerning details of NMC's/NTC's of current Pens:

Sid - - NMC
Geno - - NMC
Horndog - - NTC thru 20/21, not tradeable to 8 selected teams thru 22/23
Letang - - Tradeable to 18 selected teams thru 21/22
Schultz - - Not tradeable to 10 selected teams thru 19/20
Guentzel - - Not tradeable to 12 selected TEAMS in 22/23 and 23/24
Maatta - - Not tradeable to 8 selected teams in 20/21 and 21/22

I didn't know Maatta had ANY manner of NTC....

Missed Kessel, who is tradeable to 8 selected teams thru 21/22. Also, the piece mentioned Bjugstad had a future modified NTC, which the Pens apparently had the right to void (and DID) as part of his acquisition.

Coming off Colorado's link; if you've never seen it......and I assume most have at one time or another.....here's the "long" version of the Stevens/Trottier hammer job on Brian Bellows. Unless you like Bellows, you don't have to be a Pens fan to appreciate this one.

Hey t, NHLN Radio hasn't been coverng the Marner re-up very closely with the playoffs going on.....guess that'll become the top summer story in the League beginning the day after the Finals. Anyway, I've been wondering what kind of annual figure is being thrown around for him in GTA.

I suppose if Nylander got 6/42, then Marner's agent would have to be asking for 6/48 minimum (and I were representing the kid, I wouldn't even visit the Leaves offices.....at least right now.....for anything less than 6/54). Don't know if he's worth that kind of Kash to the moneybags Leaves, but......

The only question really left is whether the Leaves will get the, oh, three 1st rounders they presumably think Nylander is worth in the trade they've been dying to make for him since last Christmas.

They are talking 10 per over 6... seems pretty steep for a guy that had a pretty non eventful playoff. I think he signs at 9 over 5. Although apparently Daddy Marner is quite the piece of work ... thinks little Mitch is the greatest thing in the modern era. Lol Nylander good luck to em... what a birdbrain contract that was by GM Harry Potter...
