Pens -- FEB 2020

Devils score on the PP with 1:59 to play to beat the Craps 3-2 in regulation.....both teams had 5 on 3 PPs in the last 4 minutes and couldn't convert.

To my way of thinking, it's a Festivus miracle the Pens are still tied for first after their last 2 games. Pens should skate into Washington with a nothing-to-lose attitude tomorrow; but what worries me most is they might be in the early stages one of those doldrum periods like the Craps are in right now.

Bad time of year for one of those to be getting started; guess we're gonna need 30 brings his AAA game to DC tomorrow. One good thing: 8 got his 700th today....which means we don't have to worry about THAT energizing the Craps crowd even more tomorrow.

DK and PHN birth reporting this morning that Dumo, Tricky, and Marino will ALL travel on the upcoming road trip. Nobody seems to know what that means exactly, but......

What do we 'expect' today? IMO there is no way they come out flat vs the Craps...is there? Would think this one is a bit nasty and a close one between 2 ornery teams...let's hope they have a full 60 minutes of jam to get through it on the winning end.

Speaking only for myself, I'm not expecting much from the Guins today.

I'd like to think they'll find a way to circle the wagons and come up with a big effort.....especially versus a Craps team playing (on paper, at least) no better.....but I'm not sure how they mysteriously overcome their recent defense/turnover problems. Add to that the fact the Craps will almost assuredly be targeting then all over the ice; my guess is they'll be looking more to physically dominate early rather than focus on offense.

If they can find a way to get ahead......and Murray regains what he had their last time in town......who knows. But I'm not at all confident. OTOH the ONE thing in the Pens favor is that the pressure is more so on the Craps; they're playing lousy.....and after today, the next two in the series against the Pens are in Pittsburgh.

Would be nice to see Sid and Geno BOTH come out with some fire today......and for Zucker to rejoin the lineup.

Geno being turnover Geno...

HCMS was quoted to have said his team talks a great game but doesn't back it up......he simply HAS to be looking at Geno (who was personally acknowledging his turnovers in the media) when making that comment.

I pray 30 holds the fort for 50 minutes...cause that is our ONLY chance in this game by the looks of it. This could get real ugly quick.

Dumbass Geno......why he INSISTS on mixing himself up in scrums after the whistle is something I wish I could understand. He's done better on that this season, but games versus the Craps and Cryers always have a way of unearthing stoopid Geno.

Anybody else! When he does it he goes about it in a dumbass fashion...he's inept that way. However ya it would be nice to have at least a guy with considerable sandpaper...

he's the only one with anything resembling "sandpaper" in those situations. sad.

face it, this is a team full of ninnies.

who else is going to do it? serious question

Nobody, of course; but how does Geno specifically......one of the team's two thoroughbreds......help his team by fighting (or whatever it is he does in situations like that)?? He needs to be on the ice playing 20 minutes in a game like this rather than be in the box...... I meanwhile, I'm shocked he didn't get a call.

I agree he isn't helping and shouldn't be doing it. I'm just giving him credit when no one else can do the job.

Chips like Horndog's often go over the net ......good fortune it stayed under the bar. And now Oshie kicks one into his own net.....maybe the Lord has decided to start pulling for the Guins.

they don't need a goon. just a bigger body that can keep up. doesn't matter if dman or winger to me.

I agree, but that big guy who "can keep up" is a fairly unique proposition in today's League. Not too many of those guys are available by trade......and those who ARE (like Kreider) have a huge price.

Seems to me you have to develop those types anymore; and the Pens don't seem to focus on them through the draft (though I'm hoping perhaps Poulin could develop into that kind of player).

don't need a big guy with elite speed. horny can keep up for the most part.
