Pens-Craps

Smarten up Nick...we dont win like that. Bad form....

All's fair in love, war, and the playoffs......just ask Ovechkin and Trotz and Beagle and Niskanen everyone associated with the Craps. As long as we score more, I don't care how much they control play.

That said.....and I realize the Pens now only have to win 1 of the next 3......I don't know how they muster the energy to do it, unless (of course) Fleury keeps standing on his head. The longer this series goes, the more the Pens get flattened.

Back to Bonino....I expect better...our guys need to win fairly, and that was agregious. The rest of the team earned it, especially Flower, and the blocked shots on front of him. Very proud as punch of that effort!

I just want to win fairly...lord knows these clowns do their level best to do the opposite...that was no penalty and especially Nick knows it....

Excellent win! MAF is locked in. Just close it out in D.C. I can live with bonino Hollywood acting with all the crap going on in this series. Serves those pricks right.

I gotta' tell you, guys, I was really down coming into the game. I was one who thought the Pens had finally run out of players; and tonight largely confirmed that suspicion. But hey, they still find a way to eek out the win.

Craps might win 12-0 on Saturday; regardless, we've got our shot to close it out at home next Monday.

beacheer speaks for me in this series, t......after Game 3, I honestly don't care what the Pens have to do beat those ****ers.

Wondering if it be a good idea for HCMS to dress 7 defense for Game 5 to try and better protect the fort.....

Believe you/me I feel that PAIN....I suppose I am just looking for our guys to take the high road....I want our guys to show them no matter what they throw at em we will prevail....

This series has made me as sore about the game as I've been maybe ever. There's just so much hatred out there for Sid and the Pens that. if we have to be opposed to the entire hockey world, then I don't care what we have to do to win.

As I say...I completely understand...I feel it too...it is palpable....yet the refs now KNOW after looking at video (as you do I know as well )that after that particular display by Nick, the Pens are not on the advantage next game, they will call it all on the good guys now. We didn't need it IMO , as forceful as the Craps were coming on, our guys were finding a way....worst of it really for me is now they have some miniscule excuse (because really it is miniscule as compared to losing 87), to harp on and whine...'we' lose our ability to say...FU! We beat you clean! ....and I have been that guy, who plays hard maybe to the edge of dirty lol, but not so much that I need to fake it...I HATE fakers, and lord knows they have at least 3 or 4 on the Craps. Honestly never seen it like that out of the Pens for quite sometime like tonight late...perhaps it is the scrutiny of the playoffs and the series....everything under the microscope it seems...

I'm not going to try and change your mind; you're entitled to feel how you feel.

In the best of all world's, I'd agree with you......but the Pens' world right now is far from the best. And players have been working/gaming the stripes forever; Sid does it.....Nick Foligno did it in the 1st Round......and I promise you Ovechkin and Niskanen would do it in a New York second to win a game.

But if that's not good enough, try this on for size; maybe the call was a unrealized payback for the high-stick/split-lip Guentzel received off the Craps high stick which the stripes missed totally.

Oh I agree they all do it to an extent...I suppose I was looking for Trotz et al to stop bitching and whining when called to the mat...let's hope that ends on Saturday....

I knew we were short handed but I NEVER doubted our resolve! Especially after our Captain got shanked I knew our boys would bring it!

I agree, but I myself find it hard to believe he's even close to returning. It'd be bad enough of this was his first concussion scare, but I understand this is his 4th.

Even that here at the beginning of the past season......which I don't get the impression was the result of a mega head shot......cost him 7 games, which I believe translated to 2-3 weeks out of action. While I appreciate the playoffs are quite a different animal than games 1-7, I can't imagine the doctors......let alone Troy and Trina......will be encouraging him to jump back right away.

Said another way, I myself imagine Sid will have to go AT LEAST a full week with no symptoms BEFORE going through a full contact practice. Which means we'd be well into the 3rd Round before he dresses again. Of course, I'm a Refrigeration Parts Sales guy; so why would anyone dispute my Message Board assessment o_O

Yep for sure....and there's also the factor that in some circles fairly or not The Pens were viewed as screwing it up 5-6 years ago, bringing him back too early. They sure as $hit dont wanna make that mistake this time round....regardless, and I'm an electrical foreman so nobody wants my take on it either :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:, if Sid comes back at some point during this hopefully extended playoff, AND wins the Cup? I'd wager the chance as over 50% that he hangs em up. Why risk sitting in a dark room blinking, with a migrane and ears ringing for the rest of your life? I have to believe the advise of those close to him would be overwhelmingly , RETIRE Sid....but then again what do I know...I'm not a pro hockey player, and it's often impossible to define what makes these guys tick at that level....

Seems reasonable (and I'm delighted to read your take on the situation [thumb2]), unfortunately, we humans are fairly renown for making decisions based on factors other than logic......the first, of course, being money.

From what I can tell at a glance, Sid still has something on the order of $57.5 million.....a pretty fair amount of money, which doesn't include his 2016/17 salary.....remaining on his current contract. While I presume the team is insured against the deal's remaining value, I'm not sure Sid himself is so insured. If not, he's got a fairly significant financial incentive to keep playing/putting himself at risk. FYI, he's currently wrapping up Year #4 ($10.9 million) of his 12 year deal.

Crosby, Sidney 8.700 8.700 12.000 12.000 12.000 10.900 10.900 10.000 9.000 9.600 9.000 3.000 3.000 3.000

The, there's that pesky emotional need elite athletes seem to have to continue proving themselves. Once one has reached the pinnacle of their given profession....but athletes, in particular.....it seems to be pretty hard to walk away prematurely, regardless of the reason. Hell, a pretty decent percentage of them....injury concerns aside.....refuse to give it up simply when Father Time is banging on the door.

I don't want him to leave the team, but I also have no interest in seeing him put continually at risk.......especially (and there's my own personal caveat) if he goes all the way this season. Anyway, lots of time to go and decisions to be made, but you're probably onto something if Sid delivers his 3rd Cup here in 2017. OTOH, if 4 concussions represent a good enough reason to walk in 2017 if he wins, there's really no lesser medical reason to hang it up just because he didn't.

Sid and Sheary both went full contact today in practice. I guess the next 24 hours will determine if either will play depending on wether or not they have concussion symptoms.

How do you guys see tomorrow night play out. I've heard some say the Pens should play a conservative, tight checking game. I would think that would play right into the hands of what the Caps want. In my novice opinion I think we should play it like any other game. Use our speed to overwhelm and keep puck possession. Pens are playing with house money so why not let it all hang out, especially if Sid is back, and let's go for the kill shot! Let's not let these jagoffs get any momentum or think they have a chance to win this series. I think a quick start and lead is imperative. Let's go Pens!

SPEED, SPEED, and more SPEED ! I think CM mentioned the other day a posibility Sully may dress 7 on the backend...hoping the extra day of rest will help keep it at 6? Tough call really with everything the Craps have thrown at the Pens thus far....looking for continued solid work between the pipes by Flower.....and speaking of...I know he's a pretty jovial guy who has his routine, and ya dont want to upset that dynamic right now, but do the rest of you guys get as queasy as I do, when seeing him (asuming you have) do cartwheels with pads on in the corridors of the arena???? Yikes Flower! You're all we've got back there lol....

My comment about HCMS dressing 7 defense was just a theory, based on the presumption an under-siege Pens defense......which HAS been more the rule than the exception this series......could use the help. OTOH, the team has greater numbers problems at forward with Sid and Sheary out. My guess is they'll come out with the standard 6 defense.

Meanwhile, it's interesting how the hockey media has bailed almost totally from the Craps since Wednesday night. Stories are everywhere about breaking up the Ovechkin-Backstrom-Carlson-Holtby core; and destinations for Ovechkin equally so. Which, of course, is the attack mentality which tends to (or at least SHOULD) galvanize a group like this.

Not sure if the Craps will throw caution to the wind coming out of the room tonight......which hasn't really worked thus far.......or plays it close to the vest looking for an opportunity......which really hasn't worked either. But one indication of their plans we DO see is this Ovechkin/Eller/Wilson pairing. With that group together, tonight may set an all-time League record for most opposition face plants into the glass.

Fleury has obviously been exceptional thus far, and he's got to continue his hot streak. Regardless, here's hoping the stripes remember to bring their whistles tonight with the Craps in full scale nothing-to-lose mode; and don't discount the possibility (or likelihood) they'll be running Flower with seriousness.....

The funny thing to me about that 3rd line creation is the media here especially O'Neil (I find him to be a complete dipshit) were running with this idea that it was the great demotion for Player 8...completely ignoring the fact to my eyes that their 3rd and 4th lines have really done next to nothing on the score sheet, and Trotz may well be thinking to double shift him in some way between the 1st and 3rd units...thoughts?

Caps are flying as always, but the Guins are hanging in. Hoping to go to the room ahead after one......big kill coming up; but they ALL are.
