if the rumors are true about JR and letang, I'd love to know the details of the deal JR had on the table.
I dont mind Matheson being a 'big swingin dick in deep' , as he's not going to be Defensively minded regardless...but he needs to convert more often than not.... guy does have wheels and drive, but needs coaching....

It was always 'the glove ' with Murr, which I admit could be weak at times, well.... this guy, he is a rebound machine. It's tough to watch.
Ya I agree, as stated earlier pretty bad...., but I'm not going to completely hang it on him ....winning a game 3-2 that they had no business doing so at that point and just self destruction. you are right. I just can’t understand Jarrys ECHL regression. Add to that the continued lack of shot attempts when a shot on goal is the RIGHT play to make.
I tend to agree at this point....but who is going to deal him from the country club? I am tired of hearing of ownership meddling, oh how these guys need to stay together. Traded Horney who at least gave gas every night for an albatross contract, but hanging on to the ones they should deal for nostalgia sake? Nah, F that.... Tanger and Geno should be on the block.
I'm happy to watch the kids play at this point and root them on for future success. Sid needs to let his mates go, and assume mentor. There is no better imo to do that, the guy has won everything....let's chart a new direction, him leading in a different capacity. Oh and Jake, keep him too, he's untouchable. We have a few blocks on D and on O to continue enjoy watching....but can we just admit that it's time now?

PHN reported yesterday that Hextall is the current favorite......Mario is supposedly impressed with his talent evaluation work with the Cryers.
I've also read (independently) that Hextall knows how to rub people the wrong way; and for that reason, is fairly good at making enemies. If true, makes me wonder if Mario is looking for the polar-opposite of JR (meaning he was an itchy trigger-finger, media-friendly guy). So, we'll see how this progresses.
This Dee Rizzo also is reportedly getting good early reviews; though other than "knowing everyone", I still don't know exactly what else he brings to the table. But my personal assumption/guess is that Sid and/or Geno might be advocating for him. I wonder if he's possibly thought-of as the glue that keeps those two satisifed to remain Penguins long-term (whether or not that's a good idea).
Or, perhaps he becomes ownership's new "face-of-the-franchise"/media schmoozer (and intermediary between Mario, Hextall, and the press/public).

Matheson reportedly collided with an unidentified forward in practice this morning, and had to leave the ice. No report as yet on any actual injury.
