PENS 2021 Season!!

I know the story is some kind of three-way deal, which includes someone to eat the cap dollars in exchange for future assets. Still, I just can't see it happening when the runner meets the road......and that's before the fact that Fleury is VGK's best goaltender right now by some distance.
he's an upgrade but at what cost?

No clue, but I'm sure that McPhee will presumably hold out for something silly; still there's no way he even approaches a Fleury deal until convinced Lehner is ready to be back in their #1 goal permanently.

Meanwhile, I'm reading this morning about the Pens theoretical interest in Jonny Quick. And, PHN is saying that.......mostly because of Burky's connection to Anaheim......the Pens might be kicking around the idea of John Gibson (who is rumored to be concerned theoretically about the future of the Ducks).

I can only imagine what they'd demand from the Pens to seriously consider moving Gibson, who's in the 2nd year of an 8 year deal (at $6 million+ per season).....

Would love to see gibby come home.

Rumor on Penguins message board of Pens having interest in John Gibson. Perhaps Kingerski wrote article or something . He’s usually wrong anyways but I’d be in favor. No idea why Anaheim would want to trade him but if they do, Pens should absolute be buyers. Jarry had decent solid game today but can anyone say they feel comfortable with him or DeSmith? A legit goalie like Gibson could give us tremendous shot to arm. With how shaky our defense can be at times, we need a stud Goalie

going to cost a lot. but I'm all for bringing home any member of the class of 13... trocheck, gibby, jt miller. I know saad wasn't on that team but I'll include him here as well.

would be good for local hockey to have a star player on the pens a local guy. haven't had that since ryan malone.

i bet they deal their first rounder again. fvck.

I’d be open to trading Zucker or Rust for futures to help acquire him. Don’t want to lose Rust but not like we are gonna afford his next contract anyways and none of it matters if we are giving up 3+ goals per game. At least I could stomach losing Rust to get a top 10 goalie who is only 27. He has top 5 goalie potential upside too, he’s damn good. If we are gonna give up assets, they better be for worthwhile targets. Something we haven’t been doing past few years. Not sure what happened to Zucker but he’s been invisible much of season it feels.

I'd be willing to be they aren't interested in those two.

Riikola was said to have skated with the taxi squaders today, which supposedly means he's the furthest along. The remaining injured.......Dumoulin, Rodrigues, and McCann......all skated on their own. Sully was said to have given no estimate on timing of their return to action.

boring ass game.

letang tries his best by losing the puck behind the other teams goal.

people ask why jarry isn't playing good... good lord are they bad in front of him. and it starts with 58.

nice goal for teddy b who may be the hardest working penguin out there night in and night out.

finish this one off in regulation pens.

pens have played hard. still fvcking sloppy on d. jarry has been solid, so far.

Friggin huge game tonight......need the win to tie the Cryers, Isles, and Craps for second (and at the same time, get themselves out of 5th place). Isles are said to be gunning for Mike Matheson after his "vicious" cross-check of Barzal the other night.....i guess we'll see.

Sometimes your goaltender just has to win one for you.....kudos to Jars, who appears to be gradually rediscovering what he previously lost from the first half of last season. Letang finally starts cutting loose and is fully rewarded, and Matheson looked like a damned talented skater.....and an even better shooter..... on the second goal.

Games like this one remind me how really talented the Islanders are; they're not just about hard work and good coaching. I'm honestly not sure they're not as talented from the top to bottom of their lineup as anyone in the division; Barzal especially, who's sure a legitimate thoroughbred.

May not have deserved the 2 points tonight, but I'll sure as hell take 'em.......especially in comeback fashion.

I read the other day that Letang's minutes were going to be reduced, under the presumption/theory that many of his problems this year were due to overuse. Well, he played only 21:49 tonight.....and look how he did......while Marino led with 24:55 TOI followed by Matheson at 24:19.

IMO, this will be a stat to watch as the season progresses......

I know the recent rumors have been including the WWL in the League's next round of broadcast agreements; but it'll be interesting to see what they demand in return for their involvement. Knowing ESPN, they'll attempt to leverage the notion their billion dollars (or whatever the number ends up being) is simply more valuable than anyone else's.

I guess it's considered ancient news anymore to focus all attention on a single network, so no reason the NHL shouldn't look around as well. But everything I've read in the past indicated they've been pleased with the current NBC deal......so it'll be interesting to see if the new broadcast structure "favors" (whatever that means, exactly) NBC/Peacock/USA Network versus the others.

OTOH, I myself can't see the WWL taking a subordinate position to any other network......hard to imagine them settling for anything less than exactly what they want (like they do for the PGA). However, they're not going to reduce their NBA or college BB coverage for the kind of scrap ratings the NHL will deliver. Of course, they've got plenty of channels available to fill; wonder if they'd offer up a dedicated ESPN/NHL channel.

Still, I guess this whole proposition shows the true value of live sports programming these days; even for a niche sport like the NHL.

were the caps caught in a long shift on the OT winner? That was some of the worst effort I’ve seen in a while from that team

During the final 9:01 of regulation, Letang and Joseph did not record a shift. According to Sullivan, Letang was in the dressing room receiving medical care but did not specify for what. Eventually, he did return and recorded a single shift in overtime. As for Joseph, he seemed to be “guilty by association” and did not get on the ice as the bottom two pairings – Marino and Matheson as well as Cody Ceci and Marcus Pettersson – finished the third period.

Either way, the Penguins won this game without their top defensive pairing for the final nine-plus minutes of regulation.

How long until letwat throws a fit about his ice time decreasing... obviously something has happened since the change in leadership, I fvcking love it. trade his worthless ass already.
