Anyone watch Barnwood Builders on DIY Network? Those guys are awesome and they give WV a good reputation. Very smart, hard working crew that represents the state very well.
So it has been a few weeks since my last McDonalds 'experience'.
This place in Ephrata, PA has a notoriously slow drive-thru and since the parking lot looked pretty much empty I'd just do the walk in takeout. Conditions looked good... ...just one AARP aged man (aka customer) ahead of me. He placed his order, stepped aside, and then I placed mine.
Tick-tock...tick-tock...on and on. Finally he gets his order and insists on unwrapping his burger before moving on. It was a special order and f'd up and he was pissed..." Why do you people always screw up this order ?"
The reply ? "You people??" So the single minority (that I could see) person played the race card instead of thinking 'employees at this particular store'.... ...made me almost laugh except that I was pretending to mind my own business. The manager came over and helped get this guy his food while thru this whole 'crisis' I'm still waiting on mine.
To speed things up I politely requested my soda cup so I could fill it up....and was met with rolled eyes and 'I guess' and a sarcastly slow slapping of my cup on the counter.
....so I just did her job (IMO) and filled my soda and eventually grabbed my food.

Ms. Orlaco, too many people are so conditioned to confrontation and hostility these days that spite is their 'default' reaction. If you experience that in WV, can you imagine how bad it is elsewhere?
Had a couple of warehouse temps in a week ago. They didn't want to listen to one of the regular crew for instructions. Sure enough, he says to the guys, "that's not how we do it here," and next thing you know the race card gets played. Started shouting at the guy and we finally had to "ask" them to leave the building.
At least they could go home to "mama" and say they tried to work today.
People cant handle the truth. It does not make you bad, it highlights their ignorance and intolerance.
It's all in how you present it. Truth =|= bad.....blunt = bad.

I get where you were attempting to go... ...but you completely contradicted yourself in that post.
I went to check out at Food Lion..Each line is at least 6 deep..One of the Mgrs(who I know) directed me to an Express line and said that he is going to open it..I point out that I've got at least 60 items..he insists..after I put everything on the belt I looked back and saw at least 8 people in line who weren't there when I started and they were throwing eye daggers at me...Great, now I had to tell the whole story to a group of people I don't know..One asshole didn't care..he kept asking me if I could count and shaking his finger at the "20 items or less" sign..I told him that I had taken Express Checkout Line Law in college as and elective and was well aware of what I was doing..

I concentrate on recent early round picks with 1 of 1 auto cards...and past first round picks but you got me. A quick search ....that one is gonna hurt.

Joe was actually quite a player at WVU and then with the Browns and the Giants in the NFL. I don't think he played long in the pros, maybe 5 or 6 years.
So I witnessed a small random act of kindness. I know....hard to believe.
I'm walking into a small local grocery store and by the service (lotto tickets, cigs, returns) desk and some guy comes running in. Says he was a couple people behind a lady that left one of her bags at the checkout and he caught up to her in the parking lot. Said he would run it out to her and the girl asked if he was sure... ...he replied he wouldn't mind.
Nice gesture.
.....although my gut feeling is he just got a free bag of food.

that seems cynical or perhaps even judgmental...What did the person look like who ran it out of the store (touches skin)?..I do have a gift..I can usually tell if someone's judgmental just by looking at them..
You're correct...cynical and judgemental if you consider the last part of my post. I think the tone of my post admitted that fact.
It was a middle age white guy. Typically not a single minority in the store and certainly an area with a very low crime rate (odd.. ...and this is where you can take another shot at me).
People refuse to enjoy simplistic recipes.
The tomato sandwich for example......
1) Lightly toasted bread
2) Garden tomato (or if you're lucky one from an Amish produce stand) sliced...I prefer about 1/4 inch thick.
3) Miracle Whip
4) Fresh ground black pepper...salt to taste (don't be shy)

I know where you're going with that....
Tomato prices are again out of control yet I still get them when I order a burger with everything (in the pic). Odd.
Normal is actually nothing more than a setting on a dishwasher. Even the washing machine changed the word to average.
I haven't been to a McDonald's in at least five years..it's processed meat.. what doesn't digest becomes lodged in your intestine and becomes a bacteria haven for prostrate cancer..
Pretty much every meat from a deli is processed too.
I'd say fries (deep fried food) are much worse for you than the burgers. Maybe a salad with a 100% fat dressing (with more calaries than a Big Mac) would clear my conscious.
Nutrition is a complicated game.
Fat free means they dump a lot of sugar into it. Sugar is a simple carbohydrate and is broken down and stored as fat much easier by your body than actual fat or complex carbohydrates. Protein is the hardest to break down. I.E, the basis behind Atkins and the Zone diet plans.
You might as well have the rich fat dressings because they are actually better for you.
If you take the extraordinary steps to eliminate all refined sugar from your diet you will be healthier. Its damn near impossible to do unless you can cook.
I eat meat and veggies and complex carbs and I have never felt better.
Oh, and the best Mayonnaise is Saur and Dukes, which is made by Saur. Helmans is close third.
Last little tidbit. A Aioli is a supped up mayonnaise.
I like to take helmans and add fresh pressed garlic,finely crushed rosemary, a little vinegar, lemon juice, a squirt of hot sauce ( homemade) and fresh finely chopped italian parcley. Now that is a great MAYO.......err...........Aioli!
