A more optimistic view of Men's basketball...

Like the everyone else, when I saw Kerr was out for 9 games my first thought was that we're jinxed and just plain fvcked for hoops for hoops this year. Then after thinking about the talent mix and looking more closely at the schedule there may be a silver lining or two in this. I've said on here a million times that player development is often more about opportunity than anything else and we're going to have some guys that are damn sure going to get that. It should pay off later after Kerr comes back and (hopefully) Akok is cleared and/or Battle gets his waiver. A few positives to consider:

- We were going to be overly dependent on Kerr at point to begin with but now Kobe is going to get a real chance to develop his skill set there and be a much more effective piece of the depth puzzle at more than one spot moving forward. He's not the shooter or passer KK is but he's very solid with the ball in his hands, has better vision than you think, is probably better off the bounce/finishing around the rim and will definitely be a better/stronger defender. He's shooting the ball much better in practice (he works hard at it) and the I think increased minutes will make him a plus player heading into the conference schedule.
- Much of the same can be said for JoJo Harris (who I've always liked a lot.) His development may be even more important than Kobe's. The kid is a very smart player, a natural rebounder, a solid defender and absolutely will be a threat shooting the ball at all levels. The big minutes he's in for are going to be a huge positive for him and for this team. His 12 point, 9 board stat line in his first extended action against Mason went mostly unnoticed but didn't surprise me and might be a sign of things to come. We may end up with something here that most just haven't seen coming. He's certainly going to get his chance.
- Like the other two mentioned, Seth Wilson is also going to reap the benefits of big minutes. If he gains real confidence in his stroke he could become a legit X factor as the year moves on.
- Last, but certainly not least is the HUGE opportunity Ofri is going to get to develop his considerable skill set on the floor in real games. I gotta assume everyone was/is pleasantly surprised and just how skilled this kid is overall. He's a natural passer, has a nice stroke and is not afraid to make plays out there. Those skills with his size and maturing physique are a very interesting combination and there is NO better way to learn and grow than under direct fire. Now he's now going to get a chance none of us thought he was going to get. Should be fun to watch.

Yeah, we're still insanely thin everywhere and unproven in most spots, but if these guys can stay healthy the early schedule is manageable. We know we have a stud in Edwards and a solid vet in Slazinski to help stabilize things and we know for sure we have another elite guy in Kerr returning three games before conference play even starts with others possible. My biggest concern (obviously) is serviceable depth in the post and the almost unfathomable risk of another injury. I realize my glasses are about as rose colored as they get on this, but I actually went through this with one of my HS teams years ago (injuries academics had us down to 7 serviceable guys at one point) but when that group got healthy and eligible they didn't lose again and won a VIS title. Just trying to conjure up the best possible outcome. I mean...why not?

*If you must have some negativity (this being the Blue Lot) then I"ll share my grave concerns about tomorrow night. We're just so thin at LB and safety that I fear BYU's switch to a running QB may ending up biting us in the ass.
Well...fvck it. Let's win anyway. :flyingwv:

Follow the Money

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer released bank records Wednesday showing President Joe Biden previously took a $40,000 check from his family members soon after they received the money from Chinese business associates.

“Well, not only did he lie about his son Hunter making money in China, but it also turns out that $40,000 in laundered China money landed in Joe Biden’s bank account in the form of a personal check,” Comer says in the video. “First, Northern International Capital, a Chinese company associated with CEFC, wired $5,000,000 to Hudson West III, a joint venture established by Hunter Biden and a CEFC associate.”

“Then, Hudson West III sent $400,000 to an entity owned and controlled by Hunter Biden. Next, Hunter Biden wired $150,000 to Lion Hall Group, a company owned by Joe Biden’s brother James and sister-in-law Sara Biden. Sara Biden then withdrew $50,000 in cash from Lion Hall Group,” Comer continues.

“Later the same day, she deposited it into her and James Biden’s personal checking account. A few days later, Sara Biden cut a check to Joe Biden for $40,000. The memo line of the check said, ‘loan repayment.'”

The Oversight Committee released a memo containing bank records of the transactions between the Biden family and its Chinese business associates which resulted in Joe Biden taking $40,000 of Chinese money in September 2017. Hunter Biden told his office manager he was “office mates” with Joe Biden and CEFC in late September 2017, around the time Joe Biden received a $40,000 check from money originating in China.
