Pens -- FEB 2018

I'm worried the Pens are running out of legs in this 3rd game in 4 nights...... hope they can hold on. They've been counter punching all night.

I'm hoping Cole was completely out of gas on that clear attempt. Cause it was horrific...and here is Jenner sticking his nose into the fray...bout that time...

Atta boy Jake! Whammo! Needed that...lets get the hell outta here...
Went to the avs oilers game today and saw Connor Mcdavid's hat trick. When I picked this game i thought the oilers would be contenders but at least I saw a super star do his thing. There were a few oilers fans there the hats ended up on the ice. We did sell the place out. Mcdavid could have easily had 2 more goals.

Bizarre vs the BJ's....

Agreed, but see how different the Blojax have to play it when they don't have the lead ?? Dubinsky and Jenner are virtual non-factors when they're playing from behind. And Bob continues his middling play versus the Pens after ALL those great games he's played against them with the Cryers and Blojax.

You get Columbus worrying about their play in goal, and that's a HUGE difference in what they bring.

McDavid is a stud.

I guess thats really it? I was commenting to Leaves fellas here about wearing their jock straps vs Columbus on Thurs eve and they actually said they didn't play dirty? I was shocked...

SECOND BEST!....still for now...glad you got to see a show! Av's still lookin good. Hard working team...
I'd like to see them make It honestly i don't think they have enough. Eric Johnson their best D Man left the game with and injury it did not look good.My next 2 av games are against the preds. I'm not happy with the way my preds have played over the last 2 weeks. Johanson and Turris not getting it done everyone knows it except the homer Broadcasters but their payed by the preds so you expect the bS excuses.

This needed break...well what's the view from our cheap seats here at this point guys? Do they still come out firing on all cylinders as of late through March? Traditionally this is the time, and to my eyes did this years amp up come a bit earlier than usual? Do they have enough gas to keep er going? They've played a lot of hockey over the last 2 years and were obviously spent early on or just biding time?.....as @COOL MAN mentioned they looked a bit gassed tonight...

this break this week is going to be huge.

I think they have found their game collectively and I look forward to an entertaining spring. if they keep getting depth scoring as well as the big guys getting theirs? look out.

I am shocked Turris has been weak...he usually tunes it up bout now. I think he shows come playoff time. Solid 2 way player imo...i honestly thought the Preds and Av's won that deal when announced at first glance...

I think the pens will be a tough out I would'nt be at all surprised to see them in the eastern conference final against Tampa or Boston.

Yep...the depth scoring is huge. And need solid performance between the pipes.

can you really question that at this point from double m? everytime he's questioned, he answers the bell. every time.

barring injury I think we are in great shape there.

He's only had won goal in his last 20 or so games not sure of the exact number but its not good. Johanson has had 8 points in his last 9 game but he seems invisible. The guys that that are really carrying the preds at the moment are Bonino Hartnell and Jarnckok

The folks round here think they have Boston licked...I tend to agree...Boston or Tampa will be there in the East final...
I think the biggest Problem for the pens is getting through one of those 2 teams. I think the east is tougher than the west. If the pens do make it out I think its 3peat.

Hey...he's my guy lol! I make excuses for him when he has a weak game. Given that, he has looked absolutely stellar since back. I worry about injuries with him most of all, we can't afford to lose him long term down the stretch. Everyone including myself loved MAF's spectacular acrobatic style over the years, but imo we now have an EXCEPTIONAL goalie in terms of his positioning, size and skill. He forces the opposition to beat him with a laser shot, not beaten often in close...he is too damned big lol

And...in thinking further...we were all clamoring for a shakeup (I think anyway) back in December...do the Pens need that #3 C still? Do they need a D man ...I have been hearing Hunwick is on the block although not sure he'd really garner anything of substance. The kids( of course A-R and to lessor extent Simon) have looked really good coming up...good things are happening in WB/S...leave it be and add a bit piece?

If GMJR indeed is content with Sheahan at the #3, I think it's possible he actually goes forward this year with no move at all.

I seriously doubt the Rangers are that anxious to do any business with him for Grabner, and the pickings leaguewide at center remain lousy....especially for teams unwilling to pay the kinds of prices being rumored (which, of course, may or may not be accurate). Maybe he palms off Hunwick to someone desperate on the blue line for a meh return, but I myself think he's better advised to just keep him on the roster along with Ruhwedel to address the inevitable defensive injury problems which will arise.

I think I'd feel decent enough moving forward with the roster as presently built (especially with Murray re-discovering his game). Granted, it's asking a lot for kids like ZAR and Simon (who I think has cooled a bit) to keep up their current level of play But I don't want to see GMJR throw away yet another of their increasingly rare #2 picks for some fringe guy....who's really no better than anyone currently on the roster..... they have zero intention of re-signing next season.

Hey, sure would be nice if there was a Hainsey type deal in the works. That dude really elevated his game last spring.

Looking at the Pens current roster, does anybody see any of these guys not giving 100% right now? I have ripped Hagelin, Phat Phil (less than in 16-17 though), Tanger, Sid, and Geno at times this year for the effort level they played with. The last 15, I haven't seen anyone coasting. Even Reaves has been playing sound hockey. Truly amazing the 180 this team did.

Hainsey was exactly what they needed a year ago; a veteran stay-at-home guy for a team with a decimated defense (4 starters out at the time of the deal). Currently, this team has no such pure numbers issues, though we all know that can change very quickly.

And GMJR gave Carolina (who had no intention of resigning him) a fair return for Hainsey; a #2 pick. I don't see too many currently available rentals (at forward or defense) for whom I'd be anxious to see him give up yet another top 60 pick.....though I'd definitely do it in return for Grabner.
