Pens/Craps

Well CM...Asshat Kypreos disagrees with you...and one of my faves Hrudey says...'this hit was nowhere near the Orpik hit'....why am I not surprised....F Kypreos...the clown shoes...
Keith Jones just said again that Letang "was lucky to be in the game." He is starting to get on my nerves almost as much as Milbury.

Euell...Simpson and Kypreos are singin the same tune...yeah fella's we know...you want to even up the series as much as possible...YOU broadcast it!...I wonder why they don't chatter about the fact that Hags gets a wicked cross check to the ice after scoring a goal and the play is over??????

I thought the same thing-a hard cross check to the back of the neck after the play and no penalty and not even a mention of it by the announcers. I agree with CM that 58 is guaranteed to get Wednesday off. Trotz was smart to set up that mindset before the game.

Well, it's no secret there's no more universally disliked team among cement heads than the Pens......and there's nothing better to unite that group than what Letang did. I want the Pens to close this one out......and a shutout (or maybe a single GA) by Murray may cause the Craps to start wondering about themselves.

And considering pretty much EVERYTHING has gone right for the Craps thus far this season......added to playoff history versus Pittsburgh.....it makes you wonder if (or when) they'll start gripping the stick.

Hughson with a good line a second ago...'this third is going like the hands of a schoolhouse clock for the Pens'....yes...let's just get outta here with a big W!

50 shots allowed......total and complete no-shows by Sid, Geno, and Kessel.....and leaking oil all over the CAC......and they still win (or perhaps they just didn't lose). Still, it's 2-1 Pens in a series which should probably be 2-1 Craps. Nothing better than finding a way to survive your way to a win.

Lol...apparently you and I were thinking in unison re Sid there CM...They will come at the Pens like no other time in the series on Wednesday...will the BIG guns be ready? Kudos to MM, and honourable mention to the role players again (for the most part), can't keep allowing that many shots on...I'll take the win under the circumstances as you say...happily!

Letang or otherwise......though he'd admittedly be a GIGANTIC loss in Game 3......I fully expect the Pens will be MUCH better in Game 4 than tonight.

No matter WHAT happens with Letang, I want HCMJ and the players to just accept whatever ruling comes down like men rather than crying like that pussy Trotz did to anyone with a microphone beginning the second after Game 2 ended.

BTW, for as dirty as the Western World apparently seems to feel Letang's hit on Johansson was (or wasn't), it's interesting to note that Johansson played 18:20 tonight......had 6 SOG......and was credited with 9 hits. Of course, none of that matters.

But you watch; when Letang's 1 game suspension is announced......and MAN, will I laugh my ass off if he's not forced to sit after all.....Trotz will STILL march to the closest dais and moan about the inequity (and screw job) between his and Orpik's suspensions

Barnaby this AM -'The Letang hit was .63 seconds late and the league starts making evaluations at .6 seconds after the puck is gone...he'll get a game, but in no way was it as bad as the Orpik hit to Maatta which was over a second late'.....well...seems they're really trying to make what is more subjective opinion based on flapping gums look more like rocket science to me if this is the case....

I agree btw....whatever discipline is leveled no bitching or moaning please from any of the Pens org ....let taking game 4 and a stranglehold do the talking!

Now that I've had a chance to sleep on it, here are my own last comments on last night's game:
  • If Letang indeed committed a suspendable hit, then suspend his ass and be done with it; and as I said last night, do it like men (not Crap pussies) with no whining to the media. Not that it matters, but I'm from the camp that feels the result of the hit in question (meaning injury) is as big a part of the review equation as the hit itself. Many (and arguably most) disagree with that, and I recognize their reasoning.
  • It took 3 games, but everyone can see how the series is turning on the factor which.....over the last half decade......has represented the core advantage the Craps have over the Pens; and that's their incredible size advantage (and Trotz is smart enough to recognize it). You can beat a team like that on a given night.....maybe even most given nights.....if your goaltending is solid and you're opportunistic in the offensive zone as was the case last night. But you obviously can't rely on that over the course of a 7-game series where the opponent is committed ultimately to grinding you into the ground (with the clear knowledge the stripes can only call so much).....especially when your PP is totally and completely non-existent.
  • Not sure I've ever experienced a game.....regardless of the sport......in my entire life where the winning team felt this much like losers. Not sure if it was the simple statistics.....which really don't lie in this particular case.....or the reality Letang (who, by several light years has been their best player) will be out at least until the weekend. But, if Letang indeed has become that personally critical to their success, then this team isn't anywhere near as good as I thought they were.....meanwhile, their other "stars" need to spend some time looking in the mirror.
  • I know teams don't always show up with their best even in the playoffs.......look at the Rangers in Game 4 in the last series. And just because the Craps were light years better last night, that doesn't mean the same thing will happen tomorrow. Oh, and with a little luck, the top of the Pens lineup.....Geno especially, who remains best equipped of the group to stand up to the Craps strategy.....just might decide to show up at the arena one night before the series is lost.
  • At least the Pens, thus far, the have the better goaltending.....though there's obviously no guarantee that continues. But last night proved Murray just might be able to deliver this series if they can level out the ice a little bit.

With or without #58 they are going to have to play better "D" and not allow 50 SOG. Also need to get this PP clicking at some point. 87 and 71 need to pick it up! LGP!

1 game for KL......serve it, done. I have a feeling the Pens will come out flying tomorrow night......whether it's enough to carry them remains to be seen. But I expect this team will be moving its feet a whole bunch more than last night, and I expect them to push the play as much as is possible, at least without their best puck mover in the game.

Meanwhile, hey Sid......Geno......and Phil......you might want to consider actually showing up for the game tomorrow night. Get back to making Carlson, Alzner, and Niskanen move their feet for a change.

BTW, anyone think there's a possibility Geno has aggravated/re-injured the shoulder/elbow/wrist which cost him the last 6 weeks of the season ???

Given he's largely the only Pens forward.....aside perhaps Fehr.....who can match up with the Craps physically, the fact he played less than 16 minutes last night (less than Cullen and Bonino) gives some indication that if he's not hurting, he's playing timid. I don't want to think it's the latter.

Then again, Geno isn't exactly the kind of player who strength is mixing it up in the corners of his own end......where about 80% of the 3rd period was played last night.

Would have been surprised if he had not gotten a game. I didn't think it would be more, but still relieved it is not. If Pens can "steal" that one tomorrow without their best blue liner they will be sitting pretty.

I'm gonna have one eye trained on the aforementioned 3 tomorrow night...all night...when your most important puck mover is out ....it's time to step up to the forefront and earn your keep...

Also on Daley...he will be relied upon more than ever...quick feet and thinking outta him will go a helluva long way!

I've heard 2 analysts today (MacLean being one of them), suggest that if the Craps manage to get a couple goals up in ANY game here on out , or even win one that Flower would/should be called upon...IMO I would think with Flower's lack of in game action and the fact that you're also dealing with a younger fella's psyche, I would wait it out just a wee bit more than that...3 or 4 I would think? And not necessarily upon a loss depending on HOW that loss happened. ... Once that potential change is made and should Sully need to track backward? Yikes...

Sometimes a well placed Timeout to change fortunes /reset can be just as effective as yanking a netminder...I would hope to see that tactic first...

Of course this is all conjecture and we hope the Pens come out and finish off flying this eve!!!

Thoughts?

I don't know what Fehr's problem is, but admit I'm not at all happy he isn't gutting it out. Meanwhile, NOBODY gives them a chance to even play it close tonight, let alone win.

I still think the game oughta' be played rather than having the Pens just forfeit like the rest of the hockey world thinks they should.

I can deal with them losing, I can't deal with Jay-fricking Beagle being the guy who beats them. Ever since shorty Aaron Asham sent him to Mars a few years ago with one single punch, I've always thought of him as a big pussy.

Geno is back in that mode where he's more interested in making the perfect pass than looking at the goal. That's the LAST thing this offense needs.....meanwhile, TREVOR DALEY !!!!!!

Not doing a good enough job IMO of clearing the puck from the defensive zone at times.

And the jackwagon #8 yippin Murray...would be such a shame for Ovi to go home empty handed tonight....Is this fun or what! Love it!...except for that knee by Winick to MM's head!!!
