Pens/Craps

Man o man...I would like to think Brooks would know better than to deliver the elbow Maatta's way after what HE HIMSELF dealt with! WTF ???

I hope Olli is ok but after his history. ...not good...damnit.
 
Sorry but I don't feel so bad for Brooks anymore....I really don't. That is a second elbow tonight from him this time to Letangs melon...how we didn't get a 5 on 3 is completely and utterly beyond me...
 
Craps figure they can do anything they want physically won't get penalized in a playoff game. Glad this group of stripes isn't letting Trotz get away with that strategy.

Obviously, the Pens aren't giving the Craps essentially ANY offensive opportunities on the 5 on 5. But even if the Pens hold this lead through part of the 3rd period, you can bet your arse the Craps are going to get a PP opportunity in the middle to latter part of the 3rd on which they'll almost assuredly cash in.

Like Orpik or not, Craps defense is VERY good and VERY tough......Carlson is as hard to beat in his own end as any D-man in the game.

I love hockey. Attended my first Pens game 40 years ago but this league is going to lose me as a fan of the league is going to pretty much condone predatory shots, especially to the head. How that Orpik hit wasn't a major and game misconduct is beyond me. That hit is EXACTLY what the league says it wants out of the game yet we see on-ice officials not call the appropriate penalty and league officials refusing to take a hard stance on head shots.

Bourque and Lange really riding Malkin.........But as we have seen in every playoff series since 2009, it you hit the pens, the stars wilt. 6 minutes to go and Crosby just made a friggin childish pass that almost ended up in the Pens cage.
 
Wow! Big win! I can't believe Murray wasn't one of the three stars of the game. He made a lot of nice saves late.

Almost hard to believe how easy it is to despise the Craps.......and, well, the Islanders and Cryers and Rangers (and Blue Jackets, for that matter). Gotta hand it to Murray; stood pretty damned tall in that 3rd period with an absolutely dead defense in front of him.
 
Guys I'm sure you agree...tonight is a night when I don't care who did what...I'm pretty much over the moon with the full TEAM effort....it was textbook...they didn't have a shot on the Pens for 15 mins at one point...and when they finally came on the storm was weathered. ...honourable mention to the goal scorer's Hagelin and Fehr obviously and a heck of a performance by Murray to hold em in there....wow. just ecstatic tonight!....so happy. :smiley:

Former Pens player......now NHLN studio analyst.....Mike Rupp thinks the Craps are in REAL trouble. Says the Pens are playing their game while the Craps can't seem to find theirs.

Hey t, whose broadcast are you watching......is Rogers carrying it ?? Oh, and NHLN is asking whatever became of Ovechkin ?? Also, Kevin Weekes is going absolute bananas over the play of Phil Kessel.

After I graduated from WVU in 85, I moved to the DC area. I literally lived at the Cap Center for about 4 years. Tickets were plentiful, cheap, and the Caps played a nice brand of hockey under Bryan Murray. I was at the Easter Epic 4 OT game seven against the Isles in 87 (i think) and rooted for the Caps. But those Pens playoff series of the early 90's against Washington really got me to hating the Caps. Now I hate them as much as I do the Flyers and Rangers.

I am on the HNICC /CBC/Rogers broadcast...I didn't see Weekes on my feed.. although I enjoy his take from time to time....a friend of mine who plays in my weekend Spring/Fall football league is his first cousin lol....the hype around tonights game on HNIC was off the charts CM...and was nice to see....yet we're getting exciting hockey with little input from #87 and #8....go figure.. I would think this can only last so long....one of them will break out...

I agree whole heartedly OM1...the shots we see nowadays are often just that predatory. Up here the commish of the OHL junior league David Branch has really come down with an iron fist compared to the NHL...as I know the NCAA has as well to an extent. Bettman could learn a serious lesson in this regard....Orpik obviously thinks of only one thing....WIN at any cost....even though he was a victim of the very same stance...it is disturbing.
I dont watch the NFL anymore (maybe 5-6 years now? I WAS A religious Dolphins fan, and now I care less about them sadly)...and I just love football...they take nothing seriously either unfortunately....

Actually ....I'll edit this again with the point that I grew up playing and loving both Hockey and Football...(I honestly couldn't pick one if you forced me)...and tonight I'm over the moon with a win but after a night of solid fun to watch play, it is tainted by low brow disrespectful headhunting....time to get serious on this Mr Bettman....your loyal fans are watching and taking notes....Goodall is a complete lost cause imo...how he still packs in millions and millions is beyond me...somebody else with a true vision could guide the NFL to even more money and a product geared more toward player safety imo....

Finally responded to your query on the NHL concussion thread if you want to have a gander...been thinking on that one for awhile...and still no definitive answer...oh! And if I f'n hear that asshat Shanahan say 'well we EARNED this pick the hard way' once more I'm gonna puke.....

Dale Hunter was the Buffoon in red who got me hating them. Now I despise AO more than anybody in the league! I hope that Jackwagon never wins a cup!

Pretty sure I heard Doc say last night that AO has not scored a goal against the Pens this year. Let's hope that streak continues throughout this series and that Jackwagon has a long summer to think about it.

Lol! I went to his hockey camp for kids way back!...one of his other brothers was there too, I can't remember which one...he was ugly and mean looking so probably Tim lol...thank goodness he didn't teach me more of his stick swinging style back then or I could be in jail!!! Man he was a dirty fella out there....

Amazingly, ugly-ass Tim wasnt a brother. Dale had two that played in the league but Tim wasnt one. Maybe a cousin???? Yes Dale was dirty and nasty. Somehow he tallied over 1000 career points. I loved Rod Langway when he was with the Caps. What a great defensive defenseman

It was a Sales Meeting, which are often unrewarding mostly because of some of the specific types of attendees.....and this one was no exception. But I made it through.

Unfortunately, the meeting was SO planned that I actually never made it down to the Strip; it was held at the Summerlin resort (which WAS nice) in the northwestern outskirts of the city. I played a little 21 in the house casino....but only after dinner between periods of Game 1 (which was ONLY being televised in-house down in the Sports book).

Unfortunately, my 6am flight :weary: on Friday morning to DFW (and then connecting to CVG) had to be rebooked at 5am because the First Officer didn't show up at LAS. So, I had to divert to the miserable ORD, and then got home 4+ hours late.....which admittedly could have been much worse.

But my suitcase and golf clubs didn't get transferred off the DFW flight after the rebooting. I finally found them on my front porch this morning (48 hours later) after AA handed them off locally to Delta for delivery to my home.

I was PRAYING for that to happen.....oh well, at least Edmonton finally got pushed down a little. We can always hope, I guess, for the Laffs to pick the wrong guy (which, like everyone else, I assume will be Matthews)

Letang is a hockey freaking God! Wow! Great team win and Murray has ice water running through his veins. Hopefully at home we can get some favorable matchups for Sid and Geno with the last line change. Most amazing thing though about game two was how our guys kept their calm and focus while the Caps took cheap shot after cheap shot. I mean how many times did Letangs helmet get knocked off with blows to the head. Kudos to Sully for having a zen like influence on this team. I think I have a man crush now. Lol! Now lets get back to home ice and kick the donkey shit out of these dirty bastards!
