We had a similar situation at my old job. One of my fellow directors was under pressure to promote minority to a position and it was done. This person had a good heart and thought they were doing the right thing by elevating other minorities to leadership positions. he failed miserably and lost his job, he wasn’t the right guy for the job in the first place and the people he elevated weren’t even close to being the right people. We’re all better off getting the most qualified person no matter what and the only way you can elevate talent from all walks of life is to force competency.
