I had never heard of Meridith McGraw until your post, but clicked on the link and was surprised to learn that she boasts in her X/Twitter bio of being a "West Virginian." Thus, I followed her just out of habit/curiosity/principle.
This says a lot about you as a person. The lowest of low. Trump isn’t a saint, no politician is but you are probably worse than Trump and all of them for saying and meaning this… because politically you differ from someone… that is so sad for you and shows you how f’d up this country is regardless of political affiliation. You weak minded fool. You are part of the issue. I feel more sorry for you than hatred.

My two quick thoughts are this. He made the comment to get a response out of the board. And secondly, I could boot his ass or just let others deal with him. You probably won't get through to someone like that but most people don't like knowing that everyone thinks they're a POS.
No one side is to blame for what happened today because there is too much hate from both. It was only a matter of time before this happened and while everyone is focused on how Trump lived, they're losing sight of the fact that another person lost their life. Over a difference in political views? How insanely pathetic.
Hopefully, people who know him personally will deal with it appropriately.

Just because we have an asshole on the site tonight doesn't change that this happened due to the climate of our political environment.
I hate the notion of sides. Yes, we live in a two party system, but the vast majority of problems our nation faces have many, many, many ways of defining them and many, many, many possible ways of addressing them. The world is so much more complex and interesting than narrowing everything down to two sides.
Our political opposition on one issue can be our political ally on another, if we (broad we) can find a way to stop seeing things through over generalized lenses of one side of another. Unfortunately, political leaders, media and online algorithms make that difficult.
This does not add up. Typically in a situation like that, they immediately rush the person off the stage at the slightest risk of a threat… especially a former US President… with the amount of security measures and technology in place… this shouldn’t have happened. If spectators saw him.. no way security didn’t… when there’s a potential threat, secret service can decide to move trump against his wishes.
I’ll leave it at that but this is fishy…

Not sure what that means. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s the good guys versus the bad guys. I kinda know what I think is right and what’s wrong. Most of us just want to raise a family have a good life. We don’t care what other people do, just do what you want and leave the rest of us alone. Stop trying to force us to agree with things we dont agree with. No one can convince me that drag queens and pornographic material in elementary schools is ok. No one can convince me that it’s ok for men to compete in women’s sports. No one can convince me that it’s ok to have an open border where people from 170 different countries can come here at will. It’s inconceivable to me that people think this kind of stuff is acceptable.
Have to say, the woman in charge of the Secret Service does not seem to be qualified for the position:

Well, that’s a good question. Didn’t read anything about him shooting Pelosi’s husband. Thought it was basically a lover’s spat.
He was only saying it's not the same name that was mentioned earlier in the thread.
I don’t know anything about someone mentioned earlier. I’m just a bit surprised at how some seem to be taking this episode so lightly. this is a big freaking deal. People should vote their conscience, but an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate is about as serious as it gets.
This is exactly why we can't have this type of thread here. You got mad and didn't know what he was referring to. Someone said the shooter was a different person earlier in the thread and it wasn't accurate. It wasn't a big deal at all.
Well, you’re the guy in control of the threads. I've been here every day for thirty plus years, I’m going to bite my tongue. Never caused any problems that I know of, but I’ll admit that I’m pretty pissed that a presidential candidate was the target of an assassination attempt and it’s no big deal to a lot of posters. I’m mad?? Hell yes, I’m mad.
I posted much earlier in this thread that the shooter was identified as Mark Violets. I read that from about three sources. It's now being reported that the shooter is actually a 20 year old from Bethel Park, PA, Thomas Crooks.
TMZ has just posted a video taken on the ground of the shooter. You can repeatedly hear a woman screaming at Crooks, asking, "Crooks, what are you doing?!"
