Rather watch Youngstown State than f...ing Sooners or Texas Shorthorns for that matter.Neither. Would prefer OU.
I don't think we are going to have to worry about a future that sees Texas coming to Morgantown. Memphis sounds more interesting than an open date on the schedule. What gets you more juiced up, Texas coming to Morgantown or Memphis coming to Morgantown?
I think that the Big 12 adds 4-8 teams and revamps what they are doing. Can you replace a Texas or Oklahoma ? No but what you can do is add teams that can bring value , TV markets , recruiting benefits into the conference. This could keep the Big 12 a power conference and become attractive for say Fox to make a deal with and get a TV contract.
BYU - Great fan base good in football and basketball and has a national following and National recognition. They like to spend $$$$ on athletics academics are pretty good and fits the geographic footprint. Endowments from Alumni are though the roof , so could be a very solid pick up for decades.
Cincy- over the past 10-15 years has had very solid football and basketball success and would be a good travel partner with WVU. Also gets the Big 12 into the Ohio, KY, IND market. They would be an instant contender in the Big 12 and with the football crazed state of Ohio watching more eyeballs on tv sets would help the Big 12.
Central Florida- Huge university football driven school that has more than shown it can have success and compete against the Bigger conference schools and beat them. Sleeping Giant great TV market and gets the Big 12 into Florida. Central Florida has had the most games that has had over i million viewers than any other G5 school and could be a future cash cow school.
Memphis- Football rich area , Fed Ex supported school with a very competitive football and basketball programs. Would Bring an instant SE flavor to the Big 12 and that area of TN has a ton of talent. Fan support is more than solid, Academics are not great but getting better so this could be low hanging fruit for the Big 12.
Colorado St- Gets the Big 12 back into the market they lost when Colorado left. Work needs to be done there but the TV market gained could help with that.
Houston- Huge tv market, Huge student population , sits in the most talent rich area of Texas. Has shown that is willing to spend tons of cash on athletics, has had good success in football and basketball. Problem is would TCU, Baylor, TT want them to all of the sudden be on the same level as them? I often wondered why the Big 10 never looked at Houston as an add on. Much like Central Florida could be a sleeping Giant
South Florida- Another talent rich area in Florida. Has struggled in football and basketball in recent years but has the potential to be very good in football. Just added an indoor practice facility and new locker rooms weight room that brings them up to snuff with most every other D1 school. Problem is academics and competing with the pro sports teams of Tampa Bay could take eyeballs away from them.
Boise St- hey everyone likes these guys. Football crazed university and all around great program building story. Problem is it's in Idaho where the TV market is not strong and not sure how their academics holds up.
Heck Add Army Navy and Own the Army Navy game if you want to
So adding some of these schools keeps the Big 12 a power conference (much like they did in the Big East several years ago when teams left). Brings in new TV markets and solid competition with several of these teams being able to be perennial top 20 tams with a few to be perennial top 10 teams. This also allows a new deal with Fox who might want to make the ACC and SEC just a regional TV market and squeeze ESPN into a box. This is not what what many Big 12 fans wants to hear but look Kansas and Iowa St are not going to the Big 10 WVU is not going to the ACC and Texas Tech is not going to the PAC 12. So this might be the best alternative to keep the P5 rating and grow the conference and get a solid TV deal
For the last time, there is no such thing as "P5." It's a made up term by fans and media to describe conference with $1 billion+ TV contracts.
They do not fit the footprint.BYU - They like to spend $$$$ on athletics academics are pretty good and fits the geographic footprint. .
B1G adding USC and ND would be a helluva counter punch to SEC adding Oklahoma and Texas, especially now that Texas has been irrelevant for a decade, maybe longer.
There you go again. Why are you so prejudiced against BYU? Is it because of their honor code? They do not fit the footprint.
And rightfully so!Can you imagine the meltdown if we were in a conference with UCF, Houston and Cincy? They’d be calling for someone’s head…
USC is already in the PAC 12.USC to the PAC looks very unlikely.
They are running into similar problems.
Cal 4 schools are together. Stanford doesn’t want to leave the conference.
Now it is about does the PAC 12 want Tx Tech.
I think there is movement there because it wouldn’t be too much trouble to dramatically improve the academic standing of Tx Tech.
Tx Tech has been decent in sports besides football.
David Shaw said publicly today that they desire schools who compete in sports. Not just in football
Shhhh...she still thinks that USC is in the Big 12 (9).USC is already in the PAC 12.
They must of secretly been in the Big 12 all along.USC is already in the PAC 12.
Makes since. Strengthen up Western Division would be huge for B1G.I doubt they stop there. USC will be like WVU in the Big 12 geographically, except they will not be as much of a welfare case as WVU was for the Big 12. Hence I see 2 more PAC 12 teams coming along with USC in that scenario with likely more after. I see the Big 10 also taking a Northern California team for TV market and possibly Oregon for Nike money and NW market. In that scenario Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern, and Illinois will have to be part of western group. Outside of Wisconsin, I doubt the Big 10 will give much of a crap about objections. Or they just throw Indiana or Perdue into that camp to make Wisconsin happy.
B1g not going West.Makes since. Strengthen up Western Division would be huge for B1G.
Not according to experts. Which everyone knows you are not.USC will follow Stanford around even if their football program dies
Sure about that? Did you know SEC went westward?B1g not going West.
Quit being so naive.USC will follow Stanford around even if their football program dies
Those 3 am postings are rotting his Biden Brain.USC is already in the PAC 12.
I think this will keep the Big 12 at a Power 5 level and even though the teams that I mentioned are not the name brand of Texas or Oklahoma they have value and could quickly become relevant. BYU is a name brand school. Cincy and Central Florida could hold their own in any conference. Memphis brings Fed Ex $$$$$ and fertile recruiting grounds. Houston brings a huge TV market and the best talent rich area in Texas. So from WVU standpoint lets look at some possible matchupsSweet fresh take. Would have never thought of Little8 adding 2-8 lower level programs. Never would have thought of some of the programs you mentioned.
Thats what they thought when Miami and VT left for the ACC and the Big East brought in Cincy LVille and SFlorida and the BIG east was just as good. Right now if you added these teams and took out TX and OK you would still have 4 top ranked 25 teams'Cincinnati, UCF, Memphis, BYU make Big 12 bigger G5. That's about it.
None of those are going to open the eyes of the media and say look at us we're a 40 million a team conference. Will be lucky to get 15 million per team.Thats what they thought when Miami and VT left for the ACC and the Big East brought in Cincy LVille and SFlorida and the BIG east was just as good
And eventually destroy itCincinnati, UCF, Memphis, BYU make Big 12 bigger G5. That's about it.
The Orlando, Houston, Memphis, Markets are huge . BYU has a national following. Cincy is in a football state and is top 10. This could turn into a great conference and make $$$$. Plus new and rich recruiting areas. Plus what I am saying these teams added to the Big 12 could make more $$$$ than just the 8 teams that are left just by themselvesNone of those are going to open the eyes of the media and say look at us we're a 40 million a team conference. Will be lucky to get 15 million per team.

#8 Cincy
#10 Iowa St
#16 BYU
#21 OK St
They would have to split with 12 to 14 teams. Makes your so called money even less. The Orlando, Houston, Memphis, Markets are huge . BYU has a national following. Cincy is in a football state and is top 10. This could turn into a great conference and make $$$$. Plus new and rich recruiting areas. If they(Big 12) do nothing and stay pat no one is coming to save them. Iowa St and Kansas are not going to the BIG. WVU is not going ACC Texas tech and OK st not going PAC 12. And who knows where TCU and Baylor would go. If you add quality top teams from the AAC and BYU you have a shot to create a very competitive conference that are in growing marketsYou simply don’t get it sir. It’s ok to be a glass half full guy but the Little8 is in harms way.
Well without expansion the Big 12 is under the AAC. Maybe not this year but in 10 years Central FL , Houston , Memphis, BYU , Cincy all pass KU , KST, ISU, WVU, Baylor ect. And who is memphis they played in a New years day bowl a few years ago against Penn State I think .. Other than Oklahoma who in the Big 12 has done that. So has Central FlThey would have to split with 12 to 14 teams. Makes your so called money even less.
Cincinnati always under the shadow of Ohio State and Big 10.
USF, UCF always under shadow of Florida and FSU.
UL meaningless in ACC.
BYU wannabe Notre Dame. (Except doesn't play on Sunday).
Memphis who are they again?
Houston below Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor. Brings nothing.
Big East has been gone for 10 years now.
How so? They have nothing. What is their contract? They just signed with ESPN for a 12 year 83.3 million dollar contract and comes out to 6.94 million per team. That's a 30 million dollar drop per team.Well without expansion the Big 12 is under the AAC. The TV markets that these schools would bring to the Big 12 is where the $$$ would be made. Ames Iowa is not Orlando or Houston. Plus these teams are winning teams for the most part a decade or more. How so? They have nothing. What is their contract? If all you have to do is be ranked to make conference money. Then might as well bring in Coastal Carolina and Liberty.
But a very narrow one. Only reason people say they are big name is because they got luckily named NC back in a very weak year and they posturize themselves like ND. Along with some media hacks that go with it. That's it.BYU has a national following.
OK even if thats true they still have more people watching them thenBut a very narrow one. Only reason people say they are big name is because they got luckily named NC back in a very weak year and they posturize themselves like ND. Along with some media hacks that go with it. That's it.

What ultimately happened after the Big East brought in those teams?Thats what they thought when Miami and VT left for the ACC and the Big East brought in Cincy LVille and SFlorida and the BIG east was just as good.
