I think that the Big 12 adds 4-8 teams and revamps what they are doing. Can you replace a Texas or Oklahoma ? No but what you can do is add teams that can bring value , TV markets , recruiting benefits into the conference. This could keep the Big 12 a power conference and become attractive for say Fox to make a deal with and get a TV contract.

BYU - Great fan base good in football and basketball and has a national following and National recognition. They like to spend $$$$ on athletics academics are pretty good and fits the geographic footprint. Endowments from Alumni are though the roof , so could be a very solid pick up for decades.

Cincy- over the past 10-15 years has had very solid football and basketball success and would be a good travel partner with WVU. Also gets the Big 12 into the Ohio, KY, IND market. They would be an instant contender in the Big 12 and with the football crazed state of Ohio watching more eyeballs on tv sets would help the Big 12.

Central Florida- Huge university football driven school that has more than shown it can have success and compete against the Bigger conference schools and beat them. Sleeping Giant great TV market and gets the Big 12 into Florida. Central Florida has had the most games that has had over i million viewers than any other G5 school and could be a future cash cow school.

Memphis- Football rich area , Fed Ex supported school with a very competitive football and basketball programs. Would Bring an instant SE flavor to the Big 12 and that area of TN has a ton of talent. Fan support is more than solid, Academics are not great but getting better so this could be low hanging fruit for the Big 12.

Colorado St- Gets the Big 12 back into the market they lost when Colorado left. Work needs to be done there but the TV market gained could help with that.

Houston- Huge tv market, Huge student population , sits in the most talent rich area of Texas. Has shown that is willing to spend tons of cash on athletics, has had good success in football and basketball. Problem is would TCU, Baylor, TT want them to all of the sudden be on the same level as them? I often wondered why the Big 10 never looked at Houston as an add on. Much like Central Florida could be a sleeping Giant

South Florida- Another talent rich area in Florida. Has struggled in football and basketball in recent years but has the potential to be very good in football. Just added an indoor practice facility and new locker rooms weight room that brings them up to snuff with most every other D1 school. Problem is academics and competing with the pro sports teams of Tampa Bay could take eyeballs away from them.

Boise St- hey everyone likes these guys. Football crazed university and all around great program building story. Problem is it's in Idaho where the TV market is not strong and not sure how their academics holds up.

Heck Add Army Navy and Own the Army Navy game if you want to

So adding some of these schools keeps the Big 12 a power conference (much like they did in the Big East several years ago when teams left). Brings in new TV markets and solid competition with several of these teams being able to be perennial top 20 tams with a few to be perennial top 10 teams. This also allows a new deal with Fox who might want to make the ACC and SEC just a regional TV market and squeeze ESPN into a box. This is not what what many Big 12 fans wants to hear but look Kansas and Iowa St are not going to the Big 10 WVU is not going to the ACC and Texas Tech is not going to the PAC 12. So this might be the best alternative to keep the P5 rating and grow the conference and get a solid TV deal

Smells like G5
So was the Big East after Miami and VT left but as soon as they added Louisville Cincy ect they stayed P%. Or was that because the Big east had such flagship schools as Pitt and WVU??? No it was because the teams they added were solid and got better. Say what you want but Central Florida has been and can be a beast. Ask those SEC schools who Memphis has beaten how good they are. And no one wants to take a Bite at Cincy right now because they are rolling. Even if Texas and OK stayed in the Big 12 These teams I just mentioned would be instant players in that league

For the last time, there is no such thing as "P5." It's a made up term by fans and media to describe conference with $1 billion+ TV contracts.

The Power Five conferences are five athletic conferences which are considered to be the elite in college football in the United States. They are part of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of NCAA Division I, the highest level of collegiate football in the nation.

Group of 5 are the American Athletic Conference (American), Conference USA (C-USA), Mid-American Conference (MAC), Mountain West Conference (MW), and Sun Belt Conference (Sun Belt).

What shenanigans would that be ... specifically?
They strung the conference along with half hearted commitment and acted liked they were better than everyone else and thought they should have special privileges. Things they would still do till this day. Just like ND.

What would be so bad about that? Affect your life?
Yes it does. You think WVU can afford to pay the travel money and expenses it would cost. No they can't. Would they have to rely on the state more like little tiny Marshall.? That will take funds from Marshall and they end like a WVIAC SCHOOL.

DOESN'T LOOK LIKE AN IMPROVEMENT TO ME. CERTAINLY NOT THE QUALITY OF OKLAHOMA AND TEXAS.

What does your answer have to do with how it affects you? What's with your obsession with Marshall?

So you are concerned with their code and the conflict it creates with the agenda from lefty loons?

Oh…like the most powerful five conferences financially.

Someone should have kindly told UCF, Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati, Connecticut, BYU, Boise, USF et al that they were merely coveting an illusion of power. It was only MONEY!

it won't work, but you have to approach TAMU, Arky and Colorado as well. If they left because of Texas.....

Not a single school is leaving the SEC
A&M could have left. According to SEC bylaws a school can be removed by the conference. A&M didn’t want that to happen so they voted yes.
Schools didn’t leave because of Texas.
That is what happens when you listen to idiots on a message board.
A&M wanted to be the only SEC team in Texas. They don’t have many t shirt fans but their t shirts fans are mainly Huntsville, Lufkin, Jasper across the Sabine into Louisiana. They feel at home with the SEC schools.
About $$$$$$$. End of the day these decisions are based around money.

We will see what happens with the PAC 12
Colorado could return back with new friends. But that would mean WVU has to travel out West at least once a year

What conflict would that be?

Whatever their code is, it shouldn’t had made them an unreliable member.
This seems difficult for you. What specifically did they do...and what made them unreliable? Code of honor item? Stop dodging.

I honestly don’t know what their honor code says, but they set the MWC back with their shenanigans, just like ND did to the Big East.
BYU left because Utah joined the PAC 12
Would have been embarrassed to be in a G5 conference when their biggest rival was in a power conference
So they went independent.
Didn’t set back the MWC or anything. At that time the MWC was actually pretty decent. But they all left

I didn’t dodge, I told you that they wanted special treatment, but you didn’t answer my question. Anyway why do you like them so much?

Thank you Captain Obvious. That doesn't mean you don't ask. TAMU is kind of crazy when it comes to Texas, if the SEC slights TAMU again in favor of Texas, then I say they are in play. Especially when the SEC nukes the ACC in a couple years.

Money isn’t there

Again, thanks for explaining that. Can you also inform me where the sun will rise tomorrow? I'm curious since you are handing out all this knowledge.
You are the one claiming that schools make decisions on other things
Always about money

Outside of the Big 10 and Sec you would only need to remove 1 or 2 teams from the Acc and Pac 12 to gain G5 status.
