He was one of the better coaches in the entire Sun Belt Conference and almost beat Liberty last year.

However, we were cheap on salaries for the assistant coaches and should have paid them more.

Perfect fit.

WV wasn't interested in Blake Anderson.
Seth Littrell wasn't going to leave North Texas.
Told a few schools no.

Neal Brown was the only one with coaching experience.
So far he has been above average to excellent
In a 1-5 grade. Has created excitement around the program. Brought in good assistants and found a QB.

Here is the roster at Troy...

Looks like they used smaller RBs running behind big OL.
A lot of their OL are 6-4+ 320 lbs. Across the entire front.
Have a couple of big WRs but used a lot of smaller players at WR.

WV has a roster already for him on offense .
A lot of smaller faster RBs and WRs but without the huge OL.

On Defense.
Notice the DEs
All 6-4 and 240.
Very few players on the roster for WV who can play the Bandit or what they call the B Backer
A hybrid DE and OLB.

Think of someone who can rush the passer but also can cover TEs, RBs and the occasional WR.

Plus the taller corners.
All their corners are 5-10 plus. Even have a 6-4 CB.

I think WV is going to need to give the D some time to develop.
Maybe 3 years.
Not saying that 40+ points and 600+ yards should be accepted but saying that the style of D that Vic Koenning is bringing isn't suited for the roster of WV.

Need length at DE....
Reason why WV is pushing for a lot of DEs in 2020
Need taller corners.
6-1+ that can play physical and bump the WRs off the routes.
