I have the wife's work 'retreat' for 2 nights up north starting Thurs night! Thank goodness most of the attendees are hockey fans...it will be on in the bar area...no black tie affair for this fella...Pens sweater at dinner and fashioning/ utilizing a homemade tinfoil Stanley Cup goblet to drink from (just like I did at 18 years old in 92) lol!

TOI Pens

Letang - - 28:59
Dumoulin - - 21:29
Crosby - - 21:03
Hornqvist - - 20:43
Maatta - - 19:37

TOI Sharks

Burns - - 26:53
Pavelski - - 24:54
Thornton - - 24:04
Vlasic - - 22:33
Couture - - 20:55

Deboer making his excuses; said Pens flopped on the Karlsson penalty leading to the Malkin goal. Nobody asked him about how it was that 7-8 Burns fell like he was shot by 5-7 Rust.

I'm really getting to dislike Deboer almost as much as that ugly mutant Burns.

I've been listening to Stellick and Simmer this morning on NHLN Radio......and it's pretty clear even if the Pens close out the series in Game 5, won't change their (and most of their guests) minds one iota from the view this series has simply been about what the Sharks aren't doing rather than what the Pens are doing.

I mean, it's pretty clear these guys remain totally convinced San Jose's talent and size advantage is just so profound that only a complete and total mental (and to a lesser extent, physical) meltdown/breakdown can explain their inability to simply roll through the Penguins and their minor-league quality defense.

Oh, and new online rumors this morning have the Hurricanes relocating to Las Vegas (thought to be an offshoot of the current legal problems with owner Peter Karamanos and his kids).

Damn man....Sid shoulda waited a second longer before trying to rifle it up the boards imo. ...no need for a desperate clear there...

You know Toronto, I won't dwell on that mistake this morning, but when I saw Sid's senseless clear/pass to Spaling I was screaming at the TV. Of course another shot through Murray, who played a very sound game last night. At one point during the game I made the comment that Sid doesn't value the puck like the other 19 on the ice.

On the other hand, Geno, who I had ticketed to Quebec, was very good. Bad luck from a 3 pt game.

funny that no matter how hard the Sharks pound the Pens D legally and illegally, the Pens don't break down, make the right play, and refuse to retaliate. It is clinic on how to play D the right way. Obviously Schultz, Lovejoy, and even Dumoulin are playing the best of their career. Cole is at another level. Maatta solid. The only guy who scared me at all last night was Kris Letang and he only made one glaring mistake.

But what the NHL commentators aren't discussing is the backcheck. It has been generally superb. Makes the D look better when forwards are picked up and roving defensemen are covered. Team defense is wining this series and Every other series the pens have won

It is truly baffling....and it's baffling for them because they simply couldn't and still can't see just how damned good the Pittsburgh Penguins are....across the board. Why they didn't see what (I believe), most of us thought, that the Sharks are 'eer'ily like the Craps is beyond me. These guys watch the games, or at least claim to so wtf? Am I off base here? Did you guys see an awfully similar team to the Craps lining up vs the Pens at series start? I sure did....and look at what happened to Washington....beaten, albeit not as soundly as the Pens are currently doing to SJ as we speak....let their naval gazing continue. I'm gonna wax poetic for the next few days and hopefully all summer long on just how DOMINANT 'our' Pens are ....TEAM is a true definition of the Pens this year imo...from the top on down!

I only wish once the Pens are up 5-1 in game 5, somebody elevates a shot into Burns' noggin
And what REALLY disturbs me is...I'm gonna have to root for these 2 bearded jackwagons come World Cup in Sept !?!......something tells me I'll be holding my nose while I do it....not to mention that ASSHAT Marchand....

I suppose every country has their own resident team jackass but I've got 3 of em lol!

Should the Pens clear this last remaining hurdle , and I think the only thing that could stand in front of that is nerves at this point....who is your Conn Smythe winner?
This year imo is a difficult choice with the complete team effort we're seeing but I'll give ya my 4 in no particular order...

Kessel- a fantastic goal and point total period.
Murray- a couple bad goals through the playoff, but when it's really mattered gotten the job done and has been incredibly composed for a young man on the big stage.
Sid- has played a complete 200 ft game MOST nights , several game winning goals , and exhibited solid leadership.
Bonino- shot blocking beast, 5 GWG thusfar, solid In the faceoff circle and leads our newfound pleasure the HBK line

I have no issue if they award it to ANY of these 4 , they have all done that well imo. If I had to choose I'd love to see them have the guts to give it to a guy like Bonino...he's laid it out there time and again all playoff...

As I say a difficult choice nevermind the efforts of Rust,Sheary, Dumoulin, Letang...ah I could go on for awhile here...

One more thing...if they can complete the task on Thursday I would LOVE to see Trevor Daley out there in uniform and on blades to accept the Cup for what would be I'm sure a slower but bittersweet skate around...he was so important those first few rounds, taking a bit of pressure off Letang...oh and Jeff Zatkoff I can't forget him...stepped in admirably under a high pressure situation giving the Pens a shot and good start early!

Win the next one boys and we can debate it all summer lol....

I'm currently a slight lean to Murray in terms of who I currently think should win; but there's little doubt that Kessel and Sid both can still win. Under the assumption the Pens close out the Sharks on Thursday night, I think the one of those three who has the best Game 5 will win the trophy.

However, I'm pulling emotionally for Kessel......less so because I think he's that much more deserving than Sid or Murray, but because it'll be the final jam of the stake into the hearts of Leafs and other Canadian (not Canadiens) fans who hung him in effigy the past 3 years before GMJR arranged his parole to Pittsburgh.

Of course, Sid would have every justification to shoot the entire hockey world the biggest middle finger if he wins the CS. But IMO, no matter who wins the CS, nobody in the universe needs (and arguably deserves) the Cup itself more than Sid.
