Round one...Pens vs Cryers

In Game 1, nothing went right for Philly.......after 2 tonight, EVERYTHING is going right for them. Sid could have easily tied up the game himself, and all he's got to show for the two great chances is the leftovers from the stick he busted over the Craps goal.

Oh, and the Pens PP looks as bad as anything we've seen this entire season.
It was awful from my vantage point CM...the PP specific. SHOOT was all we were screaming from all points in PPG....Murray wanted that first one back they snuck in that hole again as he was sliding across....on the whole tbe wife and I looked at each other dumbfounded after that dud of a first, then noticed we started to carry the play only to have zero puck luck (Elliott did play well I give him cred), and so many poor decisions in the O zone. Turnovers later causing much havoc and....anyone see a blocked shot tonight anywhere? I had a couple Yeunglings for certain but I honestly cant recall ONE.
Off to tour about the city tomorrow as usual which we'll enjoy greatly, but with sour taste in my mouth....

Need at minimum one in Philly and imo make it Sunday afternoon...up bright and early to race home and tune in. Don't waste my urgency Pens!

Oh...and apparently I need to stay the hell away from here for good...I'd road trip it to Philly for a gauranteed win but I cant stand the stink to be frank...damn.

I totally forgot about the very logical reason (t in the house) for the turd the Pens laid last night. Regardless, a shame you traveled so far for THAT. Meanwhile, enjoy yourself in town; be sure to run over to the South Side.

I agree with you about Murray on the first goal. But I also think he deserves the much of the responsibility for the Konecny back breaker. No doubt TC left Ruhwedel in his vapor trail on the rush; but unfortunately, we had the 2016 playoffs version of Murray in goal when he was leaving short side posts open. IMO, he simply hugs that post and he makes the save, period.

Another thing.......and while I admit I didn't turn it off altogether until 4-1, I emotionally checked out/gave up after the Konecny goal.....is there anyone playing organized hockey on ANY level who spends more time skating around the zone and killing off his OWN power play than Geno Malkin ??

Finally, I'm wondering whatever became of Phil Kessel and Derrick Brassard. I read one (and ONLY one) brief account after Game 1 that theorized Kessel may still be dealing with that late season injury......which certainly could be the case. If so, it would stand to reason the SAME thing could be true with Brass. But, I'm also wondering if the Flyers always-physical nature simply has each them knocked successfully off their games.

First of all Toronto is banned from remaining post-season games.....Somebody in the organization needs to address this immediately!! :joy:

Next....my biggest fear of the post season was clearly evident last night with Murray letting in 2 soft goals, 1 and 3. The third being the one that crushed the spirit. Ruhwedel forced the Flyer as wide as he could. There were no passing options. And Murray goes all HS goalie and lets in a turd. WTF was that? The first goal was soft. The third goal was a disaster. Fortunately he normally rebounds after a bad game and we can only hope he does tomorrow.

Playoff hockey is all about special teams, goal tending and puck luck. We got none of that last night. Add to that the officiating and the Pens stood no chance. Good thing is the Pens usually have one turd game each series and hopefully this wakes them up. What sucks is we gave those filthy bastards life and momentum. I think it’s imperative we get the first goal tomorrow. Oh, and I’m going to awaken Phil tomorrow by grilling some pre game hot dogs. Everytime I’ve done it he’s responded. Come get u some Phil! Let’s Go Pens!

I thought the Pens would win this series in 6 games. The 1st game didn't change my mind. I never thought the pens would be 7-0 better than the flyers on most nights and I don't think the Flyers are 5-1 better. 2 flukeish results where the Loser left their A Game in the Pre game skate.

So, the general consensus among the scribes who follow the team is the Pens largely controlled Game 2 but got short-circuited by bad puck luck. Maybe, but I'm not sure I want to count on that turning around today.

Meanwhile, lots of series yet to be played, and I'm honestly not concerned about the team's ability to win in Philly. It WOULD be nice to see them retake home ice today; but strictly speaking, they've still got 2 games to do it. However, I admit I'm back on the Murray Worry Watch train after Game 2......but we all know he typically plays his best after a loss.

Big game today, but still not huge.......at least not yet.

Well...we elected to leave yesterday at 4 with this massive ice storm up here. Right now I am hopeful my power remains active for gametime and if out doesnt stay off so long that my sump battery backup fails. Was a helluva drive through ice pellets last night from Buffalo on. Got home at 1 am (typically 5.5 hr journey), thankfully in one piece.
Anyway we usually do stay South Side and love it, but this time I got a deal on the Westin (one night burned unfortunately) in between the Strip and Cultural district. We quite liked it and decided to walk the strip district in the afternoon....get past the tacky sports souvenier shops (ya I bought a couple things anyway), and it's a pretty cool area with the markets and old buildings! Would definitely go back and stay that area again.
We like the Burgh so much because it seems to have kept much of its historical archetecture while re-inventing itself over the recent years. And most everyone is quite friendly. That facet of the old is almost completely gone in Toronto...in the name of 'progress'....really quite a shame.
So...this one is not a must imo but sure would be nice to put the pressure squarely back on the Cryers. I tend to agree with the scribes for the most part re last game, BUT you I and everyone else in Black and Gold were left scratching heads a bit last game I think. Get the damned PP going #1. Nobody wants to see Geno skate in a circle or two and turn the disk over, win the battle on the boards and MOVE the thing. Their kill is 29th for a bloody reason. Stop the puck MM, and get down blocking some shots!
Lets go boys! Shut this crowd up early and get the W!!!

Ya know...I think this Cryer crew actually THINKS they are tough and tries too damn hard to look it for the lugheads in the stands. They are no Broad Street Bullies...just cheap shot artists, who will land in the box soon enough....

Really not impressed with this first on the whole. These chumps are blowing by our D when we're caught flat footed in the neutral zone. Bunch of puck WATCHING Pens hangin around in there...Better go give MM a thanks at the intermission boys. You owe him one or two more...

I think I counted 3 TO's in that last minute...58, 3, and a doozie by 71. Ridiculous.

Pens puck handling is miserable; overskating pucks, and the several dozen giveaways. But, what concerns me most is how badly their defense is being beaten by the Cryers forwards; Maatta, in particular, is skating in quicksand today.

But at least MM is standing strong thus far; something is telling me he better hold the Cryers to a max of 2 GA if the Pens are going to win today.....which is another way of saying the Pens need to find a way to start getting some rubber on the Cryers net. I think Elliott actually looks OK, but you're not going to score against anyone no matter HOW well he's playing without some SOG.

Sid on the board, but to me, this has the look of a game where their speed guys (Hags, Rusty, Sheary) will be in the mix IF they win.
