Yes...and I would add stupid to the mix. Isles very aggressive on the PK up at the C line and still our boys don't wanna skate it in. The amount of Ill advised shots off of Isles bodies is making my blood boil.

Pens keep feeding the area in front of the Isles goal.....after which the Isles collapse 3-4 defenders and the entire effort dies. Hate to say this, but it certainly appears as though Trotz and his staff are MASSIVELY out coaching the Sullivan staff this series.
Yep...I'll add that Tanger looks dreadful out there. Giving Eberle all the room He wants. Watching the replay on the 1st on MM...weak. a few minutes earlier almost identical play Tanger nowhere to be found and he went opposite side of net from that angle. I gotta think Eberle was in Murr's head there...
And on the infrequent occasion when the Pens DO get a good look, they only get ONE......Isles defensive collapse has been incredible, and they're making virtually NO mistakes.
I know what you mean......but the normal combinations today have been SO ineffective that I'm not sure it matters. Meanwhile, with all the emphasis on the lack of production from Sid, Jake, and (since Game 1) Geno and Phat, I'm wondering if anyone had seen Horndog and Bjugstad this series.

How many shots off of Islanders in the lanes? Dozens...it's not even as though they were legit slide blocking many of em? Positionally sound and our guys choosing low percentage shots. I give the Isles as a whole plenty of credit. This game plan of Trotz has worked to a T.
I see the effort out of Sid and Jake but they are containing both quite effectively, and they are missing too many when they do get free. Then there are the turnovers, abysmal....ah well...it is what it is.

I already commented that Trotz had massively out coached Sullivan......but as someone who's never played the game, I have no clue how much the team's ineffectiveness is traced to pure coaching, or a group of players simply incapable of adjusting on the fly themselves.
after 3 coaching staffs or so we know its the later.

It's the AGE of the top lines too @Irwineer2 don't discount it. I don't give a shit about 'average age ' amongst teams...our top guns are getting OLDER exception is Jake. Let's not discount the Cup winner Trotz either...he has them whipped right into shape...
What absolutely kills me is how this fan base will kill a goalie with knives and daggers drawn...but really what does that crowd have? A weak goal here or there sure. And then stands on his ****ing head to try and keep them in it....a Stanley Cup winner who imo is NOT the problem unless you envision winning games 2-1. It's ridiculous and I am calling it out. This is on scoring. 5 goals in 3 games. Robin Lehner and a solid D....and many chances WASTED!
Been wondering if they might give the cage to DeSmith on Tuesday......not unusual to make goaltending change (whether you think this would be the "right" move or not) under circumstances like this one.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering how long will it take after the series is over to "officially" learn that both Letang and Dumoulin (and possibly Horndog) would have been sitting out due to injury had this been the regular season.??? Meanwhile, in reading DK's Game 3 post mortem, it seems Guentzel is already playing with an injury "that'd normally keep him out"......i assume a result of those blocked shots he made in Game 2.
I think this is a 2 part answer to be fair. You can't have Murray getting beat from a horrific angle 30 seconds after the place goes nuts with the Wilson goal. You just can't have that. No excuses. That was awful. This isn't on Murray. But your point, this scoring issue has been dogging this team for a month or more now. Bad luck, trying to be too fine, passing up shots, squeezing the stick......who knows what the issue is. Seems like 2010 Habs series or the 2013 Bruins series all over again.
the issue here is the same it always has been with this franchise since the 80s. the stars want to do what they do, irregardless of the other teams efforts.
I see the effort outta Jake and Sid, they seem motivated but then if they can't score? Well that's on them... the rest of em and we know who they are have been abysmal.
Pens have been streaky all year. It’s possible, albeit not likely, that the Pens could win 4 straight. I’d move McCann back up with Sid and Jake, move Phil back up with Geno and double shift my top two lines. I’d do everything I could to turn this into a track meet and I’d sell my soul for a two goal lead. Momentum is a fickle lady and one win could change the dynamics of this series. It’d be nice to put a little pressure back on the Isles when we return back to their building on Thursday. Pens aren’t dead yet!
Well...I hope you're right...I need to load some kind of ammo to fire back at the local asshats round these parts.....it is unbearable.

Phil and Horny should be traded for sure. I’d shop Letang and Geno as well. Not sure if they have a no trade clause though.

If he (Malkin) isn't scoring when needed and is continually taking asshat penalties he is useless for me...although I doubt ya get as much for him as wanted anyway. 81 bye bye...it's that point now where he is totally tuned out. The 3-4 year window everywhere He's been.

Ya I like what Horny has brought to the table in the past but I think he's taken quite a bit of abuse on that frame...might be best to get something for him now.
