Gotta give Murray a star......if Sid gets the #1, he's gotta get the #2.
We get legit competition for the net (which we sure have over the last few), it's a godsend imo...not to mention solid D play when really needed tonight...Sid being Sid....quick turnaround tomorrow is really a must W imo to keep pace, and a very winnable game. Assuming DeSmith gets the cage...keep er goin Casey and lets get more than 2 markers...

His BIG save at the goal line aside, I think Marcus Pettersson played an excellent game. Seemed very sound positionally......I'm not sure he made a single big mistake (or at least any that were exceptionally noticeable, and correct me if I'm wrong).....and he's one of the few that actually seems willing to put the puck on the net (or at least shoots it that direction) from the point.
I wondering if this kid is showing early potential to have some Brian Dumoulin in him.

petterson had a high sticking penalty but I agree he has been playing well and it seems as if the swap for sprong is going to benefit both teams.
What choice do they have lol? He wasn't hired to be the tough guy so to speak...his job is to defend, he's sorta fallen into the tough guy role imo...and when called upon to drop em in the past he hasn't looked bad at all ! I'm starting to think you're a Wilson fan first Pens fan second lol...

I'm a hockey guy first, pens guy second. I'm tired of all the whining from this teams fans (who are mostly women and guys who never played real sports)
you are right, he did just fall into that role but he also fell on his face last night after getting ko'd. the pens clearly need to make a move to counter wilson. oleksiak was never going to be that guy no matter how well he played.
If they do I just hope they make sure it's a guy who can play instead of some lughead like Sestito...ah who am I kidding...we had that guy in RR who Wilson wants ZERO to do with now after a few beatings...arrrgggh...
I like simmonds, but I doubt they work a deal with the flyers... it would have to be a three way trade. kind of reminds me of recchi for tocchet.
BTW, your boy tanger had his big boy pants on last night. 32 minutes of ice time and I thought he was really good.
for as sloppy and as many positional mistakes he makes that is way too much ice time. maybe someday this organization will figure it out.

One thing evident last tonight and again here in period 2 is that the pens are getting to the net, getting in deep, and forechecking aggressively......
agreed. I think they are getting after it. lets hope they can keep that fire in the third and get 2 points.
Stinky hockey gear.....when I lived in Hamilton NY and had season tickets to Colgate hockey I had my fill of stinky gear. The locker rooms in the old Starr Rink were so small, players would drop their gear in the walkway to the concession stand. The stench.....

I got a car when I was 16 because of stinky hockey gear. even now I just keep most of it at the rink or in the shed. wife won't let it in our house. Also never smell a hockey players hands. In high school I felt like I couldn't get that smell off of me.
I had those hands not anymore though...but not quite as bad...I used to cut the palms/fingers strategically out of my gloves for years which allowed airflow...but intended for stick feel, and getting good grip on opposition jersey...refs like Irwin figured out my gig after awhile...took em about 3 years though...crafty!

I did that too but it didn't matter.
I also didn't/don't wear socks in my skates.
Same...very thin ones for me now...Reebok is genius with the socks...
Pens getting some really good goalie play and the egregious turnovers seem to have been reduced significantly
We got ourselves some goaltending, some D presence, last few and JUST enough O...need the big boys up front to unleash a bit more...last month on the whole has been good...actually odd for our guys this early lol...usually they get it in about Feb or so...keep on truckin Pens, get the points in regulation!!!
I am comfortable with either in the cage now. Casey has proven himself and lit a little fire under MM...it's a perfect scenario imo...it goes UP from here.
What is incredible is that Jack Johnson and Letang aren’t coughing it up 4-5 times a game. Maatta had the only one bad turnover from the defense that I recall tonight. I guess too we need to credit the forwards for making the right play and getting the puck deep. We haven’t been seeing the insane cross ice passes or blue line drop passes either.
What’s up with Matt Cullen? Playing some really good hockey right now. All of a sudden he doesn’t look slow like he looked earlier
