Pens -- April 2017

Blowjackets doing their damdest to muck up the neutral zone...not a single flip pass up to my eyes yet. Then when your QB is out vs a down and dirty bunch of ingrates this it seems is what happens...find the speed boys!!!

And there is the jackass Jenner in on Flower again...put him on his ass already.

Pens still just don't have the size to trade hits......and Torts certainly seems to have a pretty good idea how to leverage his physical advantages.

I'm not hysterically worried about the shot disparity because the Blojax really didn't have anywhere near as many good chances.....at least before the PP they truthfully didn't deserve......at it Pierre made it seem like. OTOH, what does anger me is the Perns having zero shots in the last 15 minutes of the period. IMO, that's an embarrassment for a team with a supposedly great offense on its home ice in the first game of the series.

I hope Bob falls asleep and the Pens surprise him......BTW, anyone seen Sid tonight ?? I realize he's usually fairly invisible against Dubinsky, but thus far he's pulled one of his no-shows. Meanwhile, how does Murray hurt himself on those meh moves in the pregame ?? Must be something far more seriously wrong with him physically than any of us know; that looked like the kind of problem which could keep him out of action for awhile.

Hello, Flower.......

Only way the good guys win this series is if Sully tears the occasional strip off them, aaking them to MOVE THE PUCK with crisp passes, be the marksman that THEY ARE, and not get goaded into BS penalties vs these asshats, and Flower continuing with sound play between the pipes....oh and Daley and Schultz need to find another level....then again I am simply stating something we all know. Frustrating to watch the dirty jackwagons dictate that period....venting....tall task but then...who are the defending Champs? Adversity, overcome it...find a way....

Hello, Flower.......
I did see 87 engaged from time to time but you are right...he needs to amp it up here in a game like this...and i assume he must know it...i am also looking for better faceoff percentages, he didnt win many in my eyes....lets go here!

Here we are boys...FINALLY! Horny givin it to em!

I wonder if Horndog and Hartnell will square off at some point.......Honry isn't a fighter, but he and Hartnell can lay the wood as well as anyone in the business. If the Blojax fall behind, I don't think Torts will hesitate to put Hartnell in the kamikaze role..

Meanwhile, why is a guy like Kessel.....with a shot like he has.....trying to deke an all-of-a sudden struggling goaltender on a clean breakway ??

Agree...i see them both squaring off at some point...one thing i do know is Horney is gonna be incredibly valuable here, AND he's gonna get beat up physically as he dishes it back. No secret i positively love the guy when he's engaged.

Well, that was better......but keep an eye out for some Blojax headhunting if they don't make a game of this. They've already gotten Rusty .....

Btw guys....i am doing my damdest to figure out a way down there for the first round and if not HOPEFULLY the second ...you want me to attend CM? or perhaps better to figure out a way to get to Columbus? We do well when i attend the roadies ....perhaps i meet you there lol 7 hrs for me and what? 2 or 3 for you?

I'm only 2 hours from Nationwide, but I'm in a fairly heavy travel mode for the next couple weeks......Eastern KY and southern WV from Tuesday on next week, then Tennessee the entire following week. And my next few weekends will be occupied painting and doing odd jobs in advance of my daughter packing up and moving to her new condo.

Back to Game 1 for a moment; did you notice how little you heard the names Dubinsky and Jenner once the Blojax got behind ?? Totally useless slugs when the Blojax are actually forced to play the game rather than steamroll and cheap-shot.

And that's 2/3 of the Blojax TOP line.......

Nice start to defense of the cup. IMO MAF should get start in net for game 2 Friday no matter Murray's status.

I'll bet Flower is in goal for most of this series, if not longer......regardless, no chance he's coming out for Game 2 on home ice, even if Murray is ready to play. And Murray's groin (or whatever it is he hurt) will probably be flaky for a week or two minimum.

OK, I'll go on record right now as predicting the Pens goal probably belongs to Flower as long as they remain alive.

Pens were decent in the faceoff circle tonight;
  • Sid 14-10
  • Cullen 10-6
  • Geno 7-8 (decent by his standards)
  • Bonino 9-10
  • Dubinsky 11-9
  • Wennberg 10-14
  • Karlsson 8-9
  • Gagne 5-9
Meanwhile, the Oil have gotten off to a nice start......up 2-0 over SJ in the first 17 minutes.

Agreed...Flower has the hemp hut for the foreseeable future, and that works for me...he was outstanding when it mattered last night....Now one thing that would ease my nerves a bit is seeing MM on the bench rather than TJ! What was quite a nice luxury of 2, is no longer. Hang in there MAF , and MM heal up fella!

Yes sir! Once they were down 2 donut the two lugheads tried their nonsense once or twice, and then ....the vanishing act!

I think even that knob Torts knew his band of bozo's were in serious trouble at that point....

My two cents on last night's game.....

First of all, I hope the jackets stay in hibernation for another 10 days. After the first period, they just went away. Even that 3rd period goal did nothing to get them going. But the Pens were so disciplined after the first. When they play the simple game, they are just so good. So nice to see MAF standing tall in the net. When he stays on his skates, he can be as good any anyone. Is Streit hurting? I was a little surprised to see Maatta in there. I figured he would be healthy scratch. Sully even gave him some key minutes including late game duty and PP. Not sure I'd agree, but what do I know. I am not sure Rust will ever get the huge contract but he is going to have a long career in the league. The dude is just solid. That goal was a beaut! Nice solid win. Now if we can get the Leafs rolling and maybe punish the Caps a little if not somehow steal a series!!

As long as they ALL lose eventually and the Black and Gold are left standing, I'll be a happy fella Colo !
Well 1st order of business is to take care of columbus which the pens did last night especially in the 2nd period. It was a rough night for the canadian teams but maybe the Flames or Maple leafs will get on the scoreboard.
