Texas A&M Elko takes a shot at Jimbo

This is a real program. It’s not fake," Elko said. "It’s not a politician running this program, talking fast and BS-ing everybody. This is a real program and for all the recruits out there, this is a real place".

No doubt, the "talking fast and BS-ing everybody" was a shot at Fisher. Probably an unnecessary cheap shot, but I tend to agree with that description of Jimbo. Beyond his subpar performances, even when in charge of a ridiculously rich program, I just didn't like the vibe he puts out. And, "fast talking, BS'er" seems to apply. I understand the reasons he might be chosen to replace NB, but I really hope we go in a different direction.

Does WVU lose more than $3 million…

By bringing Neal back?

I’m talking ticket sales, merchandise, media coverage, another year of irrelevance, concessions, etc…

Surely they would lose more than $3 million by bringing him back. So the question is, why not rip the bandaid?

I know Vernon and others have said to save some money they need to bring him back for another year, but his buyout only goes down $3 million for next year.

Honest question, I seriously don’t know. Maybe we don’t lose that much. If we are projected to, though, the bandaid would be ripped this year I would think?

Where I stand

Contrary to what leftists will say, and contrary to what @dave believes, my wife ended up talking me into voting for Trump. That vote was under duress. Trump and MAGA are long-term terrible for this country. I do not believe Trump will allow trillions to be cut from the federal budget, no matter how much Elon boasts it. As long as we're deficit spending, after we've already been downgraded, we are heading toward the brink. BRICS is pouring gasoline on the fire.

I'm also tired of the fight. Noone, except Elon and Rand Paul, are listening. We're just circling the drain. I'm not like you.

I'm hoping for a 269/269 electoral tie and let's get this party started.

2027 G Ashton Graves Named Top 3 in East

Ashton Graves, Class of 2027, a 6-5 G from DMV who desperately wants to attend WVU was named the #3 prospect in the East. Parents are both WVU grads and his grandfather lives in WV. Definitely on WVU's radar. Coach Frazier has a lot of kids to pursue.

Charlot and Abass bag Pangos East honor

WILMINGTON, DEL – Even the chaos and comedy that permeated the Crème of the Crop, Top 30 All-Star Game that wrapped up the event Sunday afternoon couldn’t soil the mostly superb two days of action during the Pangos East Frosh/Soph Camp at the Nothing But Net Sports Academy.

Shortly after Ashton Graves (Washington, DC, Archbishop Carroll) hit the game-winning 3 from the left corner for the dark jerseys in the Top 30 All-Star clash, fellow sophomores Josh Charlot (Fairfield, CT, Notre Dame Prep) and Daniel Abass (Hyattsville, MD, DeMatha) were announced as the co-Most Outstanding Players in the camp.

The 6-foot-4 Graves also hit the 3 (with 40 seconds remaining) that sent the contest into overtime.

Event Director and Pangos/Belmont Shore Basketball founder and CEO Dinos Trigonis said that the game would be decided not over a set period (say, a three-, two- or even one-period extension of play) but the first team to score would the sudden winner.

About six minutes and a dozen near point-blank misses on shots later – and after officials said the game wouldn’t be decided by a free throw but a field goal, leading to a whole lot hard fouls on shot attempts on both ends – Graves finally put a 3-point bow on the camp.

There were approximately 200 players in attendance (with 16 of them listed at 6-8 or taller), spread across 15 states, as well as Washington (DC) and Canada.

The event wrapped up the annual Pangos Frosh/Soph series, with the first stop in Long Beach, CA (West/Sept. 21&22); the second in Duncanville, TX (South/Oct. 5&6) and the third in Chicago (Midwest/Oct. 19&20).
The players offering the biggest challenge to Charlot (pictured left) and Abass (pictured right) for Most Outstanding honors were sophomore Jacoby Briscoe and freshman William Brunson II.

The selections were made based upon performance over both days of the camp (three games prior to the Top 70 and 30 all-star games) and not on potential.

OT- Mount Hope and NFL player .. hometown hero passes.

EAGAN, Minn. — Lonnie (Sam) Warwick was "tough as they come" on the gridiron and one-of-one as a charismatic character off the field.
Teammates loved the heart he played with while manning the middle of Minnesota's defense in his No. 59 jersey from 1965-72, as well as his sense of humor delivered with his "country" accent.

The Vikings are mourning the loss of the Vikings Legend who passed away Monday at age 82.
Warwick appearing in 92 regular-season games (84 starts) and six postseason contests, including Super Bowl IV. The West Virginia native finished his NFL career by playing two seasons for the Atlanta Falcons where he reconnected with original Vikings Head Coach Norm Van Brocklin.
Flanked by good friends and hunting buddies — No. 60 Roy Winston on his left and No. 58 Wally Hilgenberg on his right — Warwick recorded 12 interceptions, including four in 1969 when the Vikings went 12-2 and led the NFL in points against and yards allowed.
That squad then topped the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns in the playoffs on its way to the franchise's first appearance in a Super Bowl.
Warwick returned to Minnesota in 2019 when the Vikings celebrated the 1969 team, and in September 2022, he sounded the Gjallarhorn as part of Legends Weekend, which included a comeback win against Detroit.

Cornerback Bobby Bryant teamed with Warwick from 1967-72 as part of the Purple People Eaters defense.
"Lonnie was a character and really one of a kind. There was nobody tougher than Lonnie Warwick," said Bryant, who was inducted to the Vikings Ring of Honor earlier this year. "He was a great middle linebacker for us and really sealed up the middle. He was as tough as they come, but he had a fun side too him, too, where he would joke around and tease guys in a good-natured way. He was a team guy all the way, and I know he'll be missed by his family and friends."

Running back Dave Osborn, a member of the 50 Greatest Vikings, was in the same rookie class as Warwick.
"Lonnie was quite a guy. They only made one of him. He was as tough a guy as I've ever met or played with," Osborn said. "He was a country boy if there ever was one. He had the perfect disposition for a middle linebacker, there was no quit in him. He was a great friend, and we'll miss him."

WVU Release Brown announces coaching staff change

Brown Announces Coaching Staff Change

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 29, 2024) - West Virginia University Football Coach Neal Brown has announced that inside linebackers coach Jeff Koonz will replace Jordan Lesley as defensive coordinator for the remainder of the season.

Statement from WVU Football Coach Neal Brown:

“I met with Coach Lesley this morning and informed him that we are making a change at the defensive coordinator position. I’m very thankful for the investment Jordan and his family have made in West Virginia football. Jordan has been a key part of my staff for almost a decade. He is a good football coach and a great man. I know he will have much success moving forward, and we will do everything we can to help him on that journey.

“These decisions are never easy, but I’m confident this change is in the best interest of our program and puts us in the best position to finish strong. Our players have a tremendous opportunity in front of them, and I know they will give their all for WVU. Jeff Koonz will step up and serve as the defensive coordinator moving forward. I know he and our entire staff will do everything they can to help us succeed.”

HC contract question (not about getting rid of Neal or buyout)

It has been stated in the discussion earlier about Lesley being relieved of his duties that this was Wren's doing. My question is, isn't the HC contractually in charge of his assistants? That's what I always understood, but I'm a nobody who could be way off.

What i mean is, obviously Wren wouldn't put us in a bad position, but is this encroaching on breach of Neal's contract if true? I understand the university and AD can intervene in situations regarding fired for cause but didn't know they could do this for performance without the HC being on board.
