The stat nerds amongst us will go to great lenghts

to justify Nelly's continuance as the HBC... Okay, great, if you want to go through every person that coached at WVU, great, have at it....enjoy your hobby..... However, while I can accept a losses, it's the how Nelly is losing that proves he's got to go. How many times have we lost a game because the team wasn't prepared, or because Nelly was out coached, screwed up the clock management, or made a stupid decision --remember the sPItt game a few years ago--. And so my challenge to the stat nerds is simply this: don't look at the numbers, but look at the how.

6-7 Wins is the worst outcome

Baker just gave Neal a contract extension (no, it didn’t lower the buyout)- he’s not going to fire Neal unless we collapse.

Neal has been here for 6 years, this current team is the peak roster he can build and next year is a “re-building” year..
We’ll lose Greene, 4/5 of the starting OL, all 3 starters on the DL, and our best DB (Burks). Would you rather win the Mayo bowl and start the climb all over again or start trying to find our new coach to return WVU to glory? Neal has zero chance of doing that - Mayo bowl is the ceiling.

Coaches

Withe the possibility of teams looking for a new Head coach in offaeason would it be beneficial for wvu to go head and make the move with Coach Brown? I would say yes. The faster you get to the coaching search the better. We need to get ahead of other potential teams looking as well. It would also give a chance to salvage the recruiting class and help limit the amount of players that would transfer out. Im not a big fan of firing a college coach during the season, but I think in this instance it would be the best way to help the new head coach to coming into wvu. What is everyone's thoughts?

On GG

Love the kid's heart, Love his "moxy", Love the way he's always "game" to give it his all. However in my humble opinion, he gets too "geeked up" for big games and tries too hard which usually means he ends up hurting us.

He did it v Penn State. v Pitt, now v Iowa State. It wasn't all his fault, but his untimely missed throws, poor decision making on RPO's and drive killing picks because he's not executing his reads properly have meant disaster for us.

Again, I Love the kid. He's what being a Mountaineer is all about and he's talented. However he just can't handle the big stage without screwing up, and that unfortunately may be his epitaph here.

Oh what could have been? 🤔

Hey I tried....I'm not "Superman" OK?
iu

Yeah but sometimes you play like you think you are GG. You ain't!

"Do the hard things better...."

In the pregame show it was said the message to the team was "do the hard things better." Yeah...who cares....coachspeak...but that statement and mindset is a microcosm of everything that has been wrong with this program for the past 6 years.

How about "do the easy things, period"....

Doing the hard things better doesn't matter when you're incapable of consistently executing at a fundamental level. Bad snaps, drops, bad throws, missed assignments, missed tackles....the amount of motion and window dressing on a ****ing onside kick that we launch out of bounds.....

It's EVERYTHING. Please Wren make this stop.
