WVU Release WVU Men's Soccer - Mountaineers Win Third Straight at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. (Oct. 11, 2024) The No. 4 West Virginia University men’s soccer team won its third straight game and remained unbeaten on the season, Friday with a 4-2 victory at Georgia Southern. The Mountaineers improve to 8-0-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the Sun Belt while the Eagles fall to 5-2-3 and 1-1-1 in conference play.

Junior Marcus Caldeira tallied a brace, scoring goals early in the first and second half. Graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro scored his nation’s best 11th goal of the season while also adding his first two assists of the season. The final goal came from freshman Isaac Scheer, the first of his career.

A trio of Mountaineers reached milestones on the evening as Caldeira and Ors Navarro each eclipsed the 50-career point mark while head coach Dan Stratford earned his 50th win as head coach of West Virginia.

Overall, WVU outshot Georgia Southern, 14-11, while shots on goal were even at six. Each team took three corner kicks while both sides committed 11 fouls in the evenly matched contest.

Caldeira opened the scoring in the 6th minute, flicking the ball into the back off the net off a low cross into the box from Ors Navarro. A few moments later in the 10th minute, Ors Navarro took a pass from senior Frederik Jorgensen before getting his shot past the keeper to double the Mountaineer lead.

Georgia Southern got one goal back in the 27th minute. The Eagles nearly tied the game on a corner kick before the half, but redshirt-senior Marc Bonnaire made one of his season-high four saves to keep WVU on top.

It took only 41 seconds in the second half for Caldeira to pad the Mountaineer lead, curling a left-footed shot past the goalkeeper and into the side netting.

The Eagles got back within one in the 64th minute, but Scheer answered in the 69th minute, knocking a rebound into the open net.

The Mountaineer defense allowed just three shots in the final 20 minutes, none of which were on target, to secure the road victory.

West Virginia will remain on the road for its next contest at Dayton, Tuesday, Oct. 15, the final non-conference match of the season. Kickoff from Baujan Field is set for 7 p.m.

I believe the WVU-ISU winner will have the inside track ...

...inside track to the B12 championship game.

ISU is probably the best team left on our schedule so if we can upset the cyclones, we could be favored to win the rest of our games.

WVU and ISU play similar schedules but WVU plays at Arizona and ISU plays at Utah.

Maybe the game that worries me the most is at Texas Tech. ISU gets TT at home.

"I’ve come to the conclusion that to be a Democrat is to value appearances over reality. "

@CynicalPublius
I’ve come to the conclusion that to be a Democrat is to value appearances over reality.

Democrats are the very essence of shallow and superficial thinking.

In fact, I’ve come to understand that irrational susceptibility to marketing is the essential cornerstone of their personal, political and social beliefs.

To wit:

-Wearing a ball cap and changing an air filter makes someone “masculine.”
-Getting a Brazilian butt lift makes someone “feminine.”
-Getting hormone injections and growing breasts makes someone a “woman.”
-Chopping off one’s natural breasts makes someone a “man.”
-Going to college makes you “smart.”
-Pretending to own a Glock means you “support the Second Amendment.”
-Supporting a candidate who never received a single primary vote is “saving democracy.”
-Being able to form a coherent sentence when amped up on drugs means someone is not suffering from advanced dementia.
-Standing in front of some water bottles means you are “providing hurricane relief.”
-If you don’t vote Democrat, “you ain’t black.”
-Marching in “The Women’s March” means you never got your nanny pregnant, never made her get an abortion, and never slapped around your girlfriend at the Cannes Film Festival.
-Changing your accent to patronize an audience means you are just like them.
-Throwing cheese on raw hamburger on an unlit grill means you are a regular working class American.
-Wearing a military uniform means you are a “hero” even if you ran from your duties when alerted for an Iraq deployment.
-Persecuting your political enemies is “the rule of law.”
-Anger is “joy.”
-Vapidity is “brat.”

To use some famous metaphors, Democrats are “all hat and no cattle” and “all sizzle and no steak.”

Perhaps all of this is because Democrats are more prone to consume and internalize mass media. Perhaps it's because they were never taught to think critically. Or perhaps it’s just that they are stupid.

Regardless, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are the most perfect modern Democrat candidates imaginable. Each are almost completely devoid of substance (and what little substance they do have is Marxist and anti-American, and must be hidden), and we are all supposed to buy into a veneer of competence and relatability plucked out of thin air.

Harris and Walz are wholly manufactured candidates, and what you are supposed to see is supposed to hide their inherent lack of substance.

They are the image of a human being, while being empty inside.

They are Pod People.

They are the Manchurian Candidates of the Information Age.

Vote accordingly.
