I agree. One of the measures to prevent this is teaching kids how to negotiate the media. How to read different sides/ perspectives of subjects, in order to pull out the legitimate facts and form opinions.

Brushy, the human mind evolves and the human spirit can grow as our mental capabilities advance. Civilization has made strides throughout history. Looking at history as a setter of limits is just sad and pathetic. We learn from history, of course, but we strive for discovery of new parameters of existence.

Good grief you're dense. Of course there were divisions, but they were minor and handled using standards and practices honed over centuries of trial and error. There was also a common understanding of how civilization could/should function, that's no longer the case because "conservatives" prefer the tried and true methods while liberals prefer to ignore these and try it their own way.

I know many on the Left will get upset with this comparison, but if these kids are understandably upset about the wanton slaughter of innocent Human Life...wonder how many of them are as upset over the slaughter of 2 million innocent unborns a year? Some probably are, but wanna bet most of them are "pro choice" meaning "Pro abortion"?

Let's parse this out. God does set the leaders before us He desires. Usually it's what we deserve though. In Clinton, GWB, Obama, and Trump, all becoming less of an example of God each iteration, it appears to be true.
This does not mean that Christians hold these leaders on a pedestal. They are who they are, and we are to follow when they don't cause conflicts with our belief.

This is so amusing to me...Trump wasn't responsibile for anything prior to that sad massacre last week. The economy? It was all Obama's. Peace breaking out in the Middle East? It was due to coalition building from previous administrations. The election? The Russians stole it for him, he didn't even win the popular vote! Legislative agenda? Dismal failure couldn't even get Health care or a budget passed, hated by most Americans and despised by folks even in his own party! A bufoon, wholesale resignations from his team because they're so disgusted with his inept leadership right?
