MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 5, 2024) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team checks in at No. 22 in the Associated Press (AP) Poll, announced Monday.



The ranking is the third straight week and the sixth time this season WVU has appeared in the weekly poll. The Mountaineers are 19-2 on the season and sit at 8-2 in Big 12 conference play. West Virginia enters this week as the No. 22 team in the NET rankings and are riding a six-game win streak.


WVU received 129 points this week to rank 22nd in the poll and is one of four Big 12 conference teams featured in the latest rankings. The ranking is the highest since the 2021 season when the Mountaineers were ranked No. 22 on Nov. 23.



Texas (21-3, 8-3 Big 12) is No. 7 with 628 points while Kansas State (20-3, 9-2 Big 12) is just behind at No. 8 with 593 points. Baylor (17-4, 6-4 Big 12) is No. 18 with 317 points and Oklahoma (15-6, 9-1 Big 12) enters the poll at No. 24 with 69 points.

No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Iowa, No. 3 NC State, No. 4 Colorado, and No. 5 Ohio State made up this week's top five.

The West Virginia University women’s basketball team returns to Morgantown to play host to Texas Tech on Tuesday, Feb. 6, inside the WVU Coliseum. Tipoff against the Lady Raiders is tabbed for 7 p.m. ET.
