WVU Release West Virginia Up to No. 22 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 19, 2024) -- The West Virginia University women's basketball team jumped two spots to No. 22 in the Associated Press (AP) Poll, announced Monday.

The ranking is the fifth straight week and the eighth time this season WVU has appeared in the weekly poll. The Mountaineers are 22-3 on the season and sit second in the Big 12 standing at 11-3 in conference play. West Virginia enters this week as the No. 20 team in the NET rankings.

WVU received 172 points this week to rank 22nd in the poll and is one of five Big 12 teams featured in the latest rankings. The ranking matches the highest this season for the Mountaineers, also reaching No. 22 back on Feb. 5.

Texas (24-3) is No. 5 with 730 points while Kansas State (22-4) comes in at No. 10 with 520 points. Oklahoma (18-7) is No. 23 in the poll with 94 points and Baylor (19-6) is No. 24 with 88 points.

No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Iowa, and No. 5 Texas made up this week's top five.

The West Virginia women's basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 21, on the road against Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
