Not exactly a sexy match-up. Glad for the extra practices and one more chance for in game experience, but not exactly exciting to watch.
I hope Auburn wanting to interview Neal Brown for their job doesn't impact WVU's performance against Tennessee in the Liberty Bowl. Neal's critics must be red-faced since Auburn doesn't want to talk to loser coaches.
Who exactly has been attacking the old coach for leaving? Most are pretty happy that he left. The old guy was here for 8 years and accomplished nothing. Most are just glad that wvu found some other school stupid enough to take Him. Houston payed 3 times what they normally paid previous coachs to hire that bum. Man did they get hosed on that one.Lol. Brown's willingness to talk with Auburn makes it pretty clear after just two years on the job he doesnt see himself being successful at WVU either, and every article mentions his lack of success at WVU.
Cant wait to hear the brown lovers excuses when he bolts - they still attack the previous coach for leaving nearly a decade after he arrived, but no doubt theyll come up with all manner of excuses for browns departure so soon after arriving somehow being ok with them.

I say good for Auburn if they want to hire NB. Let him go and seek his fortune else where. WVU can get another coach for the money they pay. Hey, WVU pays good money for the few wins they get! Personally, I don't care about sports at the college or professional level any more. The big payouts to the coaches has ruined it for me. For example, the SC coach that just got canned got $13 million out the door money. What a shame! What a crime!
The question that needs asked:
Holgersen having so much success at WVU for the big blowout over Clemson, the Big East title his first year, coming within 3 points of playing in the conference title game and having the second highest number of wins in school history at West Virginia.
Compared to Neal Brown who’s best year is one game over .500 and has a losing overall record.
Auburn is an SEC blue blood with a national title, Hypes-man trophy winner and plays powerful Alabama and LSU year after year.
Now the question: Why are they interviewing Neal Brown and not Holgersen?
Follow up: What do they know that everyone else doesn’t about the two coaches?

Auburn is feeding off of exactly what WVU did--fits the "culture" and "back to back 10 win seasons".
Still, everyone who has written about it says no one is going to be excited about hiring someone that is 10-11 at WVU and hasn't had much success. You left that part out.

Got the notification....wonder what happens now. Put Army in there.ESPN just reported UT out of Liberty bowl due to multiple COVID cases in the program.
So Bucket, why isn’t Holgersen getting interviewed, since he is so superior to Brown again?
Probably because Auburn also wants a coach that "fits the culture" first and foremost.
Notice, there are HUNDREDS of coaches that Auburn isn't interviewing. Why aren't they interviewing the coaches from Texas Tech, Kansas State, Baylor, ISU, Texas, OU, etc. etc.? Why are YOU singling out Holgorsen? Literally HUNDREDS of coaches aren't being sought for an interview.
Your downplaying of WVU's 2nd winningest coach and overhype of the current 5 winner is getting silly at this point. Some fools are still whining about Holgorsen leaving on his own. SILENCE that Brown is considering the same TWO years into a much worse campaign than DH and co. ever delivered for WVU.
PITIFUL.
Hopefully "fitting the culture" won't be the first factor in hiring the next coach.

One WON at WVU--second most ever in the history of the program--exactly WHY he had 8 years before he decided to move on.If Brown gets offered what Holgorsen got offered by any other school, then Brown should go as well. Holgorsen definitively proved he is not worth a 5 yr, 20 million guaranteed contract. Brown has not shown enough that he is worth it either. Difference is one had 8 years and his ceiling is clearly not going to make WVU a top half program in the Big XII while the other has only had 2 years to show if he is up to the task or not.
Winning all those games and being a far superior coach than Brown, like you have been saying and saying and saying for months on end and all you can come up with is “fitting the culture “?
Holgorsen is also #2 with most losses. He did a fair job here. He had the talent but always failed with said talent. Had he coached here the past 2 seasons he would be 10-11 or worse.
Have posted all that, with not only Auburn (I guess due to Holgersen being uncultured) why isn’t he being interviewed for ANY other coaching vacancies? That is, since he is such a great coach and all.Holgorsen as has been stated REPEATEDLY also faced the most difficult schedules EVER played at WVU and the most and highest ranked teams of ANY coach ever at the school.
He also had to move WVU from the depleted Big East into one of the best P5 conferences half way across the country against some of the best historical powers in the country.
And yet, he won MORE than Neal Brown. Every year but ONE.
7 wins per year every year but one, 10 wins twice and 8 wins several times.
Yet the fools continue to ignore ALL of that as though it didn't happen.?!?
If Brown continues at his pace WVU will have more losses than ever in the history of the program under a HC, in fact last year he nearly broke the CONSECUTIVE LOSS RECORD in the HISTORY of WVU football. Based on his recruiting classes, there doesn't look to be some huge leap in success on the horizon.
