I agree. Unless he drastically pulls it together, changes his style and beats some top 25 teams this year, it’s past time to make a change. The program is stale, boring, and underachieving. The numbers don’t lie. Going into year 6, is the program better, the same, or worse since Brown took over? It’s definitely not better. And it’s debatable if it’s the same or worse than the day Holgorsen left. My personal opinion is worse, but it could go either way of the same or worse. At least Holgorsen had some exciting moments and could beat ranked teams. It was reduced. Time to use it. He's had plenty of time to show what he can do.
My opinion is that it is worse as well. And it's really not even as much about wins and losses to me when comparing him to holgs. It is about having an entertaining, exciting team at all. Wvu is totally boring under Neal brown compared to Holgs. He's had plenty of time to display this.I agree. was WVU smart enough to reduce the buyout or is it still strangely high?
The percentage of the buyout was reduced but his total salary was increased so the buyout, at the end of the day, is a higher dollar value, despite what was put out there by university PR.was WVU smart enough to reduce the buyout or is it still strangely high?
Strike 1 by Wren Baker. Brown did not deserve an extension after his fist decent season. It was ridiculous to do it. Baker will lose the fan base if he keeps this dud much longer. I can't count the number of people at the psu game who are totally done with brown. This is the most boring wvu has been in 40+ years and he has only a few fans left who support him.The percentage of the buyout was reduced but his total salary was increased so the buyout, at the end of the day, is a higher dollar value, despite what was put out there by university PR.
Last year was an enigma. The perfect storm for Brown. An exceptionally weak schedule and Brown won 8 games in the regular season somehow by not beating a team with a winning record. To add a more unlikely event, 20+ UNC players, including their future star NFL Quarterback sat out the bowl. Translation, WVU and Baker were backed into a corner. Add in the ridiculous buyout, Ken Kendrick’s stamp of approval, were they really gonna fire Brown after improving to 9-4 with a bowl win? No. However, Stranger things have happened (see Bill Stewart dismissal).Strike 1 by Wren Baker. Brown did not deserve an extension after his fist decent season. It was ridiculous to do it. I was literally just reading that. That’s the end for me on Neal Brown. With the the Big 12 blueblood marquee teams Oklahoma and Texas gone, WVU needs to play these type of games. Playing Pitt is great as well. You can do both. Whether it’s Penn State or Alabama, they need these games. And here now, we read that Neal Brown wants out. Because truth is, he’s whining because he can’t beat them or anyone with a pulse. Wants to duck Alabama. Pathetic. Enough with this guy. You want to be the best? You play the best and beat them. Obviously his goal isn’t a NC at WVU. And THAT is why it’s time that he hits the road.So I saw where Neil wants to get out the Alabama series. What a display of confidence from our manly coach 😆 🤣
If we don't end this ridiculous experiment, we will be looking at a move to the MAC just to try and stay competitive at all.
I agree 100%. This dude doesn't have a winning attitude at all. It's sad. No confidence at all and like you say, his goal isn't an NC obviously, and that disqualifies him. He is not a B12 level coach at all. Not even close.I was literally just reading that. That’s the end for me on Neal Brown. I would say it's stayed the same his entire 6 years. A .500 coach. Had Dana stayed we would still be going nowhere fast. Needs to be a move made this year or next. Prefer it be this year. Even if by some strange way they keep him after a 6-6 season they should make some assistant coaching changes. But who would want to come here to work on a thin ice HC staff.I agree. If we keep Brown much longer, we will be 2-3 win a year coach. The climb has been back down the ladder for this program. Opponents on levels we would once would take for granted as sure wins, are now dog fights and often losses. There is never a game going in that I feel we can win. Every team on the schedule can realistically beat us. While we churned it out Saturday against Albany, let’s not forget they were literally on the WVU goal line ready to punch it in to get within single digits. And now Brown wants to water down the schedule because Alabama is too tough. Stick with this guy, and this program is done.I would say it's stayed the same his entire 6 years. A .500 coach. It's 2 games. Season ain't over until we see how they do with Kansas. Albany was within single digits 21-14. They didn't score. Defense won. There is also no team on the schedule I can not see us not beating. He will not be a 2 to 3 win team anytime soon probably never. Fans have been saying that for 6 years now. He will always be a 5 to 7 win coach. Fans have been wanting the schedule watered down since Big East was formed. Brown in the article said nowhere he wanted the game canceled and I would be willing to bet Alabama wants it canceled due to SEC growing. You can piss on the coach and the team rightfully so, but get the facts right. If we keep Brown much longer, we will be 2-3 win a year coach. The climb has been back down the ladder for this program. So why do fans continue with lighten schedule talks? In the immortal words of Ric Flair "to be the man you must first beat the man."
I am not part of that crowd. How many times are we going to see Bama in Morgantown? There is a WV Metronews poll out wanting us to play Moo U home and home. Been there and done that.So why do fans continue with lighten schedule talks?
I cannot answer that, because I’m not one of them and I don’t know anyone saying that. I enjoy playing the big boys. And with Texas and Oklahoma gone, we need a powerhouse in our schedule every year. If Neal and some fans want a lighter schedule, he should go back to the G5 and they can follow him there. So why do fans continue with lighten schedule talks?

No thanks on the Moo U. Did you really ever think Alabama was coming to Morgantown? Especially after Saban retired. Now with OU and Texas in SEC it's never happening. Besides I would prefer to play them when we have a coach.I am not part of that crowd. How many times are we going to see Bama in Morgantown? Neil Brown does not want to play Alabama. He didn't want to play Penn State either. He has complained about the schedule for 3 years because he's a wimp And a bad coach. Neil comes from voice text and I am absolutely not editing itWho's Neil?
You should go back and read that article again. Says nothing about wanting out of the schedule game. It's about keeping the Pitt game.
But you don't need worry about Bama as they will be the ones dropping the game especially if they go to 9 conference games. Adding Texas and OU to SEC is going to nix that Bama game.
Brown has no control of schedule. He's not Huggins.
It's Neal Brown and not Neil. If you're going to talk trash about someone at least be man enough to spell and announce the name correctly.Neil Brown does not want to play Alabama. Does it hurt your feelings when I say Neil brown? Because I'm just going to keep letting my phone spell it the way it wants to. Go seek counseling if it bothers you that much, wussy. No. I have no interest in showing you anything. Neil Brown is a wimp and he doesn't like playing the schedule with hard teams. I have listened to enough of his stupid press conferences to figure this out and if you haven't, I really don't give a shit. It's Neal Brown and not Neil. Did schedule change in those 3 years? No. Thus proving he has no control over the schedule.
Please show me where he said he didn't want to play PSU and he wanted the Alabama game canceled?
I’m well aware of who makes the schedules. It’s the WVU AD. Neal has been whining to him, and apparently (per article), Wren Baker agrees with him. Then you haven't been reading much.
Wouldn't bother me at all if Neal took off.
But Neal has no control over the schedule. Texas will be missed. OU not so much. It's been 25 years since Oklahoma was named national champions after winning the 2000 BCS title game.
Oklahoma OOC in 2000 UTEP, Arkansas State and Rice.
I don't care if you call him your daddy. Just shows the immaturity you have.Does it hurt your feelings when I say Neil brown? I hope so but that's wishful thinking. We have extended this loser twice in 6 years and he has one of the worst records of any coach since the seventies lol. I mean it's almost as if we want to downgrade to the Mac. We are definitely a better fit there under Neil Brown. He is sinking the West Virginia University football program to levels most of us have never experienced. There are only a handful of retards who support this and they are the worst fans than any team could ever ask for.I don't care if you call him your daddy. Just shows the immaturity you have.
You don't have to worry yourself to death over scheduling because Neal will be gone before Alabama even gets here.
Neil Brown is the worst coach in West Virginia University history.
You're not old enough to remember the worst coach in WVU history.Neil Brown is the worst coach in West Virginia University history.
It’s debatable between Brown and Cignetti. You're not old enough to remember the worst coach in WVU history.
Slight edge to Cignetti as worse due to record only and 3 bowl games for Brown. Cignetti also didn't get 6 years. Cignetti proved to be a great coach at lower level. Brown is better suited for lower level as well. It’s debatable between Brown and Cignetti.

Maybe we should get the UNLV coach?
Nothing like making excuses. Would not have mattered if their was as many bowl games as now because he still would not have made it. Brown would have been to 1 in those days, maybe. Winning that bowl probably not. Players didn't abandon their teammates in those days. 8 wins usually got WVU in a bowl. The bowl thing is moot as there were only 15 bowls in Cignetti's last year and 43 in 2023. Much easier to be top 86 than top 30. Brown doesn't even sniff a bowl game, even last year, in Cignetti's time.
Might want to toss Gene Corum into that mix. How would Cignetti do with the schedule WVU has now? There is no more William & Mary, Richmond, Villanova and Temple. Sorry but I believe Brown (32-30) is better than Cignetti (17-27).It’s debatable between Brown and Cignetti.

1976 - 12 bowl games
1977 - 13 bowl games
1978 - 15 bowl games
1979 - 15 bowl games
You could make an argument for Gene Corum as worst WVU coach.
And 1 has a record above .500 at soon to be 32-31.Brown doesn't win 8 in an 11 game schedule against the WVU 1976-1979 competition.
Regardless Brown and Cignetti are neck and neck for worst tenure since in 54 years. Only difference is one was easily let go after 4 years and the other is still being considered a possible option after 5 years and a status quo start to his 6th.
