It was reduced. Time to use it. He's had plenty of time to show what he can do.
I agree. Unless he drastically pulls it together, changes his style and beats some top 25 teams this year, it’s past time to make a change. The program is stale, boring, and underachieving. The numbers don’t lie. Going into year 6, is the program better, the same, or worse since Brown took over? It’s definitely not better. And it’s debatable if it’s the same or worse than the day Holgorsen left. My personal opinion is worse, but it could go either way of the same or worse. At least Holgorsen had some exciting moments and could beat ranked teams.
My opinion is that it is worse as well. And it's really not even as much about wins and losses to me when comparing him to holgs. It is about having an entertaining, exciting team at all. Wvu is totally boring under Neal brown compared to Holgs. He's had plenty of time to display this.
Under Holds, it was "we're going to score 50.....can you score 51"
It was increased if we we fired him before this season. Minimally reduced if we fire him at the end of this year. Moderately reduced if we fire him at the end of the year after.
The percentage of the buyout was reduced but his total salary was increased so the buyout, at the end of the day, is a higher dollar value, despite what was put out there by university PR.
Strike 1 by Wren Baker. Brown did not deserve an extension after his fist decent season. It was ridiculous to do it. Baker will lose the fan base if he keeps this dud much longer. I can't count the number of people at the psu game who are totally done with brown. This is the most boring wvu has been in 40+ years and he has only a few fans left who support him.
Last year was an enigma. The perfect storm for Brown. An exceptionally weak schedule and Brown won 8 games in the regular season somehow by not beating a team with a winning record. To add a more unlikely event, 20+ UNC players, including their future star NFL Quarterback sat out the bowl. Translation, WVU and Baker were backed into a corner. Add in the ridiculous buyout, Ken Kendrick’s stamp of approval, were they really gonna fire Brown after improving to 9-4 with a bowl win? No. However, Stranger things have happened (see Bill Stewart dismissal).

I was literally just reading that. That’s the end for me on Neal Brown. With the the Big 12 blueblood marquee teams Oklahoma and Texas gone, WVU needs to play these type of games. Playing Pitt is great as well. You can do both. Whether it’s Penn State or Alabama, they need these games. And here now, we read that Neal Brown wants out. Because truth is, he’s whining because he can’t beat them or anyone with a pulse. Wants to duck Alabama. Pathetic. Enough with this guy. You want to be the best? You play the best and beat them. Obviously his goal isn’t a NC at WVU. And THAT is why it’s time that he hits the road.
I agree 100%. This dude doesn't have a winning attitude at all. It's sad. No confidence at all and like you say, his goal isn't an NC obviously, and that disqualifies him. He is not a B12 level coach at all. Not even close.
I would say it's stayed the same his entire 6 years. A .500 coach. Had Dana stayed we would still be going nowhere fast. Needs to be a move made this year or next. Prefer it be this year. Even if by some strange way they keep him after a 6-6 season they should make some assistant coaching changes. But who would want to come here to work on a thin ice HC staff.

You should go back and read that article again. Says nothing about wanting out of the schedule game. It's about keeping the Pitt game.
But you don't need worry about Bama as they will be the ones dropping the game especially if they go to 9 conference games. Adding Texas and OU to SEC is going to nix that Bama game.
Brown has no control of schedule. He's not Huggins.
If we keep Brown much longer, we will be 2-3 win a year coach. The climb has been back down the ladder for this program. Opponents on levels we would once would take for granted as sure wins, are now dog fights and often losses. There is never a game going in that I feel we can win. Every team on the schedule can realistically beat us. While we churned it out Saturday against Albany, let’s not forget they were literally on the WVU goal line ready to punch it in to get within single digits. And now Brown wants to water down the schedule because Alabama is too tough. Stick with this guy, and this program is done.
It's 2 games. Season ain't over until we see how they do with Kansas. Albany was within single digits 21-14. They didn't score. Defense won. There is also no team on the schedule I can not see us not beating. He will not be a 2 to 3 win team anytime soon probably never. Fans have been saying that for 6 years now. He will always be a 5 to 7 win coach. Fans have been wanting the schedule watered down since Big East was formed. Brown in the article said nowhere he wanted the game canceled and I would be willing to bet Alabama wants it canceled due to SEC growing. You can piss on the coach and the team rightfully so, but get the facts right.
KSU OOC schedule - UT Martin; Tulane; Arizona. Where's the beef.
Kansas OOC schedule - Linwood; Illinois (who beat and they suck); UNLV
ISU OOC schedule - North Dakota; Iowa (rival game); Akansas State Where's the beef
No Big 12 team plays 2 P4 teams. Rarely does anyone in P4 period play 2 P4 teams.
People bitch about the schedule being to tough then bitch about it if WVU to changes it.

I am not part of that crowd. How many times are we going to see Bama in Morgantown? There is a WV Metronews poll out wanting us to play Moo U home and home. Been there and done that.
I cannot answer that, because I’m not one of them and I don’t know anyone saying that. I enjoy playing the big boys. And with Texas and Oklahoma gone, we need a powerhouse in our schedule every year. If Neal and some fans want a lighter schedule, he should go back to the G5 and they can follow him there.

But Neal has no control over the schedule. Texas will be missed. OU not so much. It's been 25 years since Oklahoma was named national champions after winning the 2000 BCS title game.

No thanks on the Moo U. Did you really ever think Alabama was coming to Morgantown? Especially after Saban retired. Now with OU and Texas in SEC it's never happening. Besides I would prefer to play them when we have a coach.
Neil Brown does not want to play Alabama. He didn't want to play Penn State either. He has complained about the schedule for 3 years because he's a wimp And a bad coach. Neil comes from voice text and I am absolutely not editing it

Did schedule change in those 3 years? No. Thus proving he has no control over the schedule.
