The ACC, VT and a Trash Pile are Indistinguishable

VPI&SU is fraudulent, no surprise to anyone who has taken a hard look at them. The late career semi-resurgence that Frank Beamer enjoyed was less because of masterful recruiting/scheduling/execution and more because Florida State was in a nosedive late in Bobby Bowden's tenure while Clemson and Miami were still dormant, Clemson especially. They took advantage of the fact that SOMEONE had to win the ACC and they just happened to be that version of <insert team here>. Seriously, Wake Forest won the league in '06 with a dominating beat down of GT in the ACC Championship Game by a score of 9 to 6. That league is and has been football trash for quite some time and it makes sense that Florida State and Clemson put up with the Tobacco Road horseshit because it's an easier path to the playoff in most years than any other conference can offer. It's the same reason that Fuente will remain coach there until a super high profile job opens up because he also knows that it's an easier path to the playoff in most years than in other leagues. After their ODU meltdown, one of the editors of the TSL board mentioned that WVU made $23 million more than they did last year so...not only are we a better program than the polytechnic community college but we also make more money as well. Sucks, doesn't it gobblers?

People need to realize! The ACC payouts are bad, and everytime someone wants us in the ACC understand our payout from the Big 12 makes those guys look silly. Syracuse, BC, and Miami (and Pitt to a degree) always looked down on us and never wanted us in the ACC but look who came out on top. Those schools could just never figure us out. We are blue collar, hard working, fight for our rights type of athletic department and now we have big time money. Give us about 10 years of this income and look what the facilities will look like after upgrades

Point is the ACC is poorly ran. Not saying anything negative about UNC but they are very shortsighted. UVA doesn't care about sports at all.

The ACC and Raycom had a horrible deal but Raycom was bought out and this created the ACC Network.
Problem is the ACC Network will.not be enough to keep Florida St around.
Clemson maybe because the Taters think they are USC running around with the ACC. Makes them feel like they are rubbing shoulders with the rich and powerful in Chapel Hill and Charlottesville.

It would be like the Big XII letting Kansas run the conference and keeping the HQ in Kansas City.

Basketball schools make pennies on the dollar that football schools make.

UNC and the ACC made the right choice on Louisville but expanding to the NE and bringing in basketball first schools will ultimately cause their demise
The SEC is circling around NC State and Raleigh right now waiting for the right time to make their move.

Even with Boston College and Syracuse getting good at FB it won't bring in Northeast eyeballs.

Conference networks work because people watch non revenue sports.
The SEC has this more than any other conference. Reason why SEC can do what it does is because people watch baseball, softball, women's basketball or even track and field.
None of the schools brought in by the ACC are like this.

If they are smart they would use lacrosse. But I don't see a huge demand for college lacrosse.

Not so much. It's a singular noun...Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, hence VPI&SU. If it were plural or if there were more than one noun, you would be correct but in this case, all those letters refer to one singular institution (noun).

I can explain all of this to you because a lot of A&M fans like to manipulate the facts so UT fans have gotten the truth.

A SMC is a civilian training school for military officers. Has zero connections to the military.
But......
The Armed Forces commission officers upon graduation.
Some like the Citadel at a very high rate.
Others like North Georgia at a 25% rate.
They don't have to attend OCS school if they attended a SMC.


You are right it is a bunch of college kids playing military.
Schools like Texas A&M and LSU used their Corps of Cadets to discipline the college kids who did not get raised properly.
Some schools like LSU abandoned their military tradition while others like Va Tech and A&M kept it going.

VPI&SU stands for Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University which is the full, proper name of "Virginia Tech" and which shows up on their diplomas. Syracuse is not playing Clemson in the cement fire hazard this weekend so they will get boat raced.

The Citadel and Texas A&M are the worse.
They pretty much allow hazing and the abuse of 18-19 year old kids.
