All memories of the Confederacy can be removed and destroyed, would all memories of slavery also be forgotten???Maybe this will finally put an end to slavery.
Those rocks make some people very nervousThis board is pissed at something?
Then the right thing must've happened.

They should all come down.....I have never understood why we honor traitors and racists with statues as well as highway and town names.
There is no reason for it to be forgotten but we shouldn't honor it.All memories of the Confederacy can be removed and destroyed, would all memories of slavery also be forgotten???
Lol.. In all seriousness, I would bet money that of those 250 or so students, only a handful actually did any research on the history of that statue.Saw a great quote this morning on this:
That’s the hardest that group of students has worked on something since their gender studies final.
They should all come down.....I have never understood why we honor traitors and racists with statues as well as highway and town names.
so, if our ancestors fought for the confederacy because they lived in a southern state, that are traitors and racists?
The issue is only divisive if you let it be divisive...I wish they hadn't tossed it into a dump truck. I wish it could've been preserved somehow. I'm old-school, I hate seeing monuments destroyed, regardless of the division they create.
That's funny right there. The issue is only divisive if you let it be divisive...

Anyone can call himself anything he chooses, but that declaration does not make it factual (most often, in political cases such as this, the facts are widely divergent from what they declare).Criminals ?

Unfortunately, there are some who are currently advocating for that particular action!Because it is part of our history. Using your logic, we would need to remove all images of Washington, Jefferson, etc for they were traitors to England and owned slaves.
I get why many are offended by the statues. That doesn't doesn't necessarily mean that they should come down though.

So you're cool with calling all those sanctuary city reps traitors? Bc they're breaking federal laws
Not necessarily.......many people get caught up in wars and conflicts that may not believe in the beliefs of the leaders. I just don't believe we should honor those leaders.so, if our ancestors fought for the confederacy because they lived in a southern state, they are traitors and racists?
That's not true but I'm not sure if you are being serious. If you go to Germany, there's Hitler statues errwhere...
it's their history

so Virginia should cease celebrating Lee-Jackson day? something they have done since 1904?
