I have a lot of genuine liberal friends.

Obviously. I’d guess Trump wins the primaries, and assuming he does, he’s going to likely lose the general because he likely wont pull the extra votes he needs that DeSantis could.

I like Trump’s policies, I’ve established that. DeSantis’ policies are basically the same, he just doesn’t have the accompanying baggage.

Assuming Trump is winning the primaries and GA indicts him? Honestly, how do you think that’s going to play out? They’ll time it so it will be the ongoing distraction of the entire primary and general season. Trump did some really stupid shit in the post-election. He walked right up to the line of illegality. I personally don’t think he crossed it, but that’s just me. I wasn’t on the GJ. But will make a guarantee, if it looks like he’s going to win the primaries, I guarantee you that they’re going to indict him to sink him. We don’t need that distraction or talking point out there as we roll into the general. You guys are all but guaranteeing a Dem win in 24.
I just disagree with your scenario. A lot can happen, and among all of the things we've seen with Trump is while he may be like a Bull in a China shop, his political timing is impeccable. This ongoing border crisis couldn't come at a better time in terms of him focusing on his immigration policies compared to creepy Joe's. The Middle East is on fire when Trump can talk about the Abraham accords he helped negotiate. School choice vouchers through backpack funding legislation (where dollars follow the students) is sweeping the nation and sits right in Trump's wheelhouse. The corruption and weaponization of the DOJ is tailor made for his "drain the swamp" message. Plus Joe Biden is simmering in the middle of maybe the deepest bribery scandal in our history!

I see all of that not only helping Trump, but increasing the likelihood that no matter what BS charges they try to pin on him, his support will simply continue to grow stronger as has exactly been the case so far. Nothing they've tried to stop him has worked, and I see no reason why all of a sudden they will find something that ultimately stops him.

I’m not sure how you can disagree with my scenario. The GA Grand Jury recommended he be charged with 7 different charges. They’re likely going to indict him.

I don't disagree they're going to indict him, I disagree that stops him. I'm suggesting it will increase his support because folks are sick of how the Left keeps coming after him, while ignoring all the illegal hijinks on their side! We'll see? If they manage to take Trump out (doubtful) I'll happily cast my alternative vote for DeSantis. Either one works for me! ;)

Joe will curb stomp either one of them so there's that.
Yup...sure looks likes he's in the "curb stompin' business climbing these stairs!

See how bad ass he "stomped" into that plane?

It’s interesting that you and I have been on this board since day one. We were on the extreme opposite ends on most every issue. Even though I doubt either of our views have changed much, we are now more in agreement than disagreement because of the political environment today. What we used to consider far left and far right are now more centrist.
oh my! there is a lot of truth to this. I have noticed over the years a change in OPs postings where I've wondered why on the change. Marriage, children, aging etc. etc. He's very witty, pithy, and satirical and I've enjoyed his posting evening if in fundamental disagreement. And now you're posting on what I've felt too. Very interesting.

And oh the days of this board. Today is nothing like 20 years ago.

Hey ya'll...say @moe ...and then look at his sig pic! 🤣

Figures a creep like YOU would get off on your own Granddaughter!

I got tagged in this thread so I'm just re-reading it. Turns out almost everything I posted back during the primaries about Trump's candidacy was 100% spot on. Thanks for reviving @Riverguideer [thumbsup]

I may have changed some, perhaps due to aging and becoming more cynical about how the people at the top use their power. But more than that I think the people at the top have just gone way, way overboard and think they can do anything they want without repercussion.

I think the emergence of the Internet and then social media and the general increased access to information by the masses has changed things. In the past, it was much easier for the people in charge to control the narrative. They could tell the story and most people would believe it and those that didn't looked a bit nutty. But nowadays the people in charge tell a story and the masses can oftentimes determine the truth of it for themselves. And they've learned that the people at the top BS them a lot.

I also think the reaction of The Establishment or whatever you want to call it to Trump's election in 2016 was very bad. They didn't want Trump to win and when he did win, instead of saying "We need to figure out why Trump was so appealing to so many people so we understand the people we're ruling over," they just didn't accept it. They tried to ruin Trump but it was so obvious what they were trying to do that they ruined their own credibility instead.

It used to be people disagreed and we argued about it. Now we disagree and help each other keep from getting thrown in prison because the government doesn't give a shit about either one of us.

I told y'all way back when, this is a Marxist revolution. We aren't out of the woods yet either. We've got snakes in the party that are trying to poison the Senate and the neocons are doing their damnedest to gain a foothold in the Trump admin so they can destroy it from within like last time.

They don't rule over us. They work for us. Until they figure that out they will continue to lose elections going forward.

The Revolution is over they just haven't accepted it yet. Any further nonsense will only give Trump and Vance a bigger mandate. They are loud minority with foreign assistance. Nothing more.

I think we've defeated the hoarde of leftists, but there are still cucks withing the ranks of the GOP that will work to sabotage Trump at every turn. Hell, McConnell is at the top of the list, his little transfer of power before the inauguration spits in the face of his holding the SC seat for Trump. He's a slimy swamp creature who's only goal now is to position the GOPe to weather the MAGA storm.

Everyone isn't going to get everything they want. However the American just made a huge shift back to the center and sanity. I suggest they get on board.

The GOPe will not take kindly to being relegated to Junior Partner status in the new Freedom Coalition/MAGA. It's going to be a process, and it'll be messy and public, but in the end I think MAGA wins.

Tough break for the few holdouts. But better to get somethings than nothing at all.

Exactly! Trump needs to watch his back. Snakes thrive in swamps.

Just for sh*ts & giggles....here's Trump during the first GOP primary debates. (This is what got him propelled to the top of the "Republicrat" party's hate list)

I think this is spot on.

Trump did what he needed to do......to fight a corrupt media and to expose more on what so many knew about the corruption of the media, but, he is paying a price now for it. Plus, for me, Hillary isn't president. She should never be president. She is up there with many of the known global corrupt people. Trump improved black unemployment liberals could never achieve and that I am grateful for and he did the best with the border in the time he had. The highlighted exposure he stirred up of the complicit nature of the media as connected to American liberalism (another form of socialism) casted more doubt on the trust America has for the media. The media is poison and he contributed to exposing their toxic nature.

Trump is done. Blacks will not vote for him.
well I certainly stand corrected, majorly corrected. I will now go and stand in the corner.
