5 years ago - The WVU Football Program spent more money than it brought in during the 2017-18 season, according to new numbers from the U.S. Department of Education.
WVU was one of five schools among the Power Five football programs to report a loss in football, according to the newest Equity in Athletics Data Analysis.
WVU Football brought in $20,543,010 during the 2017-18 fiscal year. It spent $20,961,319, a deficit of $418,309.
An analysis of the data by PennLive.com found WVU brought in the least amount of revenue among the other 64 Power Five schools and Notre Dame. The Power Five football conference include the ACC, Big 12, Big 10, PAC-12 and SEC.
The other four programs to report a deficit, according to PennLive.com's analysis, include UCLA, Arizona State, Purdue and Rutgers.
WVU's athletic department brought in close to 99 million dollars during the fiscal year and spent the same.
