CBS preseason B12 rankings

That is the point. ..

He took a 1-11 team to 7-6.
After taking a 2 win Temple team to a bowl game.
He was pretty much left with nothing as everyone left Baylor. For him to get that team back on track that quickly is why people consider him a quality coach. He has done that twice now.

This is getting ridiculous.
If Matt Rhule was coaching WV you would be saying the same thing.

When you play a high school level OOC it's not hard to go 7-6

What does Temple have to do with Baylor? Nothing.

Neal Brown took a 3-9 team to 4-8, 10-3, 11-2, 10-3 / 3-0 in bowl games. If going by your design that would mean NB will go 4-8 and 8-4, 10-2. That troy team was 17-32 in 4 season before Neal Brown.

This is ridiculous. You are over inflating a coach that plays nobody in OOC to get 3 easy wind. You Sound like CFE when saying Terry Bowden brought Akron back from the dead even though he still sucked as well. He had 1 winning season at Akron.

The previous coach at Troy either finished first or tied for first 5 consecutive seasons.

Before Matt Rhule it only happened at Temple once.
Temple has only been in a conference since 1991.
Matt Rhule finished either first or tied for first twice.

All the coaches in the Big 12 are quality coaches and have had success somwhere else.
That is a P5 conference. You don't get coaches who don't have success in the Group of 5.

Difference is that Rhule has had success at a P5.

I have seen some quality coaches fail at Baylor
Like Guy Moriss who actually won at Kentucky.

Matt Rhule will be above Brown until Neal Brown proves he can win at a P5 level.

Troy
2011 3-9 (2-6)
2012 5-7 (2-5)
2013 6-6 (4-3)
2014 3-9 (3-5)
2015 4-8 (3-5) / NB
2016 10-3 (6-2) / NB
2017 11-2 (7-1) / NB
2018 10-3 (7-1) / NB

Troy was not lighting it up until NB.

Rhule is not lighting it up in P5.
Al Golden did just as well as Rhule at Temple.
Steve Addazio was there 2 season and one 9-4

Your verbiage is funny and I get your POV.

Like I said if Matt Rhule was the coach at WV you would be promoting him.

The people that made the ranking aren't emotionally tied to any team.

This is not to say Neal Brown won't be higher than Rhule next year but until Neal Brown coaches a P5 game you have to go with the coach who has shown he can coach at this level.

Neal Brown doesn't even have 25% of the issues that Rhule had and still has.
The guy turned that into a positive.
His players have an us vs the world mindset and it helped them to win 7 games.
Obviously Baylor had weaknesses last year.

But most of their talent left and Rhule has had to patch together a team.

Ohio State proved the doubters wrong and showed everyone they belonged. I do wish TCU would have been given a chance as I think they we a deserving team, too, but even if they made the playoffs the likelihood of beating Ohio State was pretty low.
Excellent post. 2014 would have been a good year to have allowed six schools into the playoffs, as both TCU and Baylor played well enough to get in that season.

If they are so great then why is Baylor picked to only finish 6th in Big 12 which usually means 6-6 or 7-5? Not impressed.

Why?

OL issues
Still don't have a secondary

Matt Rhule and his staff aren't what you call offensive geniuses
They are going to need to run the ball and play defense.

Not there yet.
OL take a few years to develop. Could happen this year.

Baylor so far haven't brought in the needed players in the secondary.

More question there than Oklahoma State, Iowa State and TCU.

But they are closer to that group than the 4 with new coaches.

Baylor will not be close to the group of 4. Dream on Alice.

The group with new coaches.

One or two or those teams could surprise.
Probably WV or Tech

Baylor has huge questions
But TCU and Oklahoma State have QB questions.

I think anyone besides Kansas or Kansas St could finish 4th including West Virginia

Too many teams that can move up and down from 3-8.
Texas Tech could really surprise some people this year.

They return their entire OL
2 QBs
A lot of weapons.

Kansas 10th, KSU 9th, WVU 8th, TTU 7th Baylor 6...

IMO WVU will finish 7th.
