Bill Stewart only having around 60 scholarship players

....and the website for the casino currently advertises it's open 24/7.

It is now. It wasn't then.

Nitro Police don't have to be called to the Casino. There is always at least one out there on duty. The call was made for show.

Chuck's "source" was the guy who made the call and is an MU guy. It was a straight up "gotcha" play by a journalist with a grudge and a guy on the inside. You had a coach who wasn't informed by his own Athletic Department that getting the HC job made him a public person and fair game for guys like Landon. Dana was forced to apologize for nothing as spin control to cover Luck's staff's gaff.

Landon has a pattern of doing hatchet jobs on WVU coaches actual or potential. When Nehlen hired Stewart, he was the man beating the drum about Stewart and his firing at VMI over racial issues. He started it again when Stewart got the head job.

When Rodriguez lead Tulane to a bowl win after Bowden left for Clemson, Landon made a point of writing that Tulane's president said she would never hire him due to "lifestyle issues". "Lifestyle issues" are a coda for a plethora of things. In Rich and Rita's case he was implying they were swingers. Throughout Rich's career at Glenville, Landon had been his biggest fan. Rodriguez becomes the heir apparent and Chuck starts his crap.

When it became apparent that Dana was getting the job, he came up with a story about UH coaches trashing a hotel room in Huntington with Dana as the ringleader. If it's to be believed they were getting ready to sacrifice virgins by Chuck's hysterics.

My knowledge of the casino incident is rock solid and not the rantings of a hack with a grudge against WVU and it's new HC. Nothing happened other than a guy having a few drinks and flirting with a cocktail waitress. It happens there every night.

Yes, and that cocktail waitress was wearing fishnet stockings and 9 inch heels! My goodness, wasn't she cool? I know at least 125,000 folks who claim to have been at the casino that night. These same folks claim they were there to see Wilt Chamberlain score his 100 points and were at Woodstock.

Don't comment on things you know nothing about and I might.

Landon didn't break the story..it was the Charleston papers..you are FOS..Nitro PD does not work part-time at the Casino because they serve alcohol which is against their policy..I knew exactly what happened and you don't..period..you already screwed yourself by stating that it closed at 3 am..that is total bullshit from you..as soon as they went to live table games they were open 24 hrs..that was well before this incident..you need to get over the hill more often.

so

why did Dana make an apology for doing nothing?
who the hell cares about that stupid casino incident. Whether he was tossed, drunk or walked out on his own, it doesn't matter. It may or may not have happened. If it did, it happened once. Like 5 years ago. The guy was in his 30's. It happens. You guys are nothing more than a witch hunt with an agenda. Some of the legends of this game have done far worse.

I actually agree that this incident is a non factor, but don't kid yourself. You were on the same witch hunt when Stewart was our coach.

He made a spectacle of himself when he should have known better. A man in his position should have just walked away when first refused service. Creating a scene when you want another drink and they won't give it to you is dumb regardless of your position. When you are in a highly visible position, it's dumber.

Compared to a DUI, or showing up for a work related even drunk, it's a minor thing, but it's still dumb.

You misunderstood, Charleston. Vernon's statement was a total contradiction of what Holgorsen's fan club tells us every day, and is even more comical given the fan club's constant complaints about Stewart.

I wasn't suggesting the attrition was intentional. No coach would do that under any circumstances. The irony sure is hilarious, though.
If I read Vernon's chart correctly, there were 13 true sophomores and 8 redshirt freshman, or 21 for that class, which seems solid enough.

The overall roster number of 79 is short of 85, but not so short that it cannot be remedied with a big 2016 class.

With that said, the 2015 class looks a bit anemic in terms of numbers (16). My guess is that I am either misinterpreting the chart or missing some key part of the puzzle.

I am just thrilled that Gibson will remain through 2017, or be paid if he isn't.

I find it ironic, which Dana discarded because he and Casteel bumped heads, is what has brought the WVU defense to levels it attained when Jeff was here. It's advantage is that teams are NOT used to it, and thus it's a problem for offenses to prepare for it because they don't practice against it every day the way that WVU offense does.
