RECRUITING UPDATE Spoke with hoops official visitor

Castaic (Ca.) Southern California Academy 2025 forward Trent MacLean took his official visit to West Virginia Nov. 3-5 and told me that while it was different from Los Angeles, he really liked Morgantown as a whole and everything that the program had to offer. Not only just the basketball side of things, but how the school is well rounded and the staff was great and really gave him and his mother all the information they needed on how he would fit into everything. MacLean told me that he was really impressed with the facilities and the Mountaineers basically have everything that he would need to improve his game and develop. He was able to tour Morgantown a little bit as well as the campus and even took in the first game of the season against Robert Morris. Tom Ostrom is the lead recruiter here but this trip also afforded him time to get to know head coach Darian DeVries. The head coach told him that he could fit in as a four-man in the past-faced system and he shoots the ball well which is match for what they want there. MacLean believes that his skill set would be a good match for what West Virginia does as well. West Virginia has been involved here for about two months when Ostrom went out to recruit current commitment Kelvin Odih and MacLean had moved to the school from Thousand Oaks where he averaged around 19 points and 10 rebounds per game last season. He has also taken an official visit to St. Mary's and right now those are the two schools that he plans to decide between in the next week or so although he doesn't have any set date yet. The most important aspect to him will be the fit on the basketball side and then which school wants him the most among other factors. He did tell me that while he didn't know what to expect coming into his trip to West Virginia he left blown away by the school and the people, including the support of the fan base.

Suggestion on Future Blue Lot Forum

@Vernon

Just an idea you and others at Rivals may already be thinking about or maybe it's available and I am just ignorant of it. Would love to be able to set some filters to see only Basketball or soccer topics on my personal Blue Lot. I imagine with AI, this will be easier to do in the future. Personally, I am in the mode of trying to ignore football threads and focus more on WVU basketball and soccer or other ancillary sport topics that pop up on The Blue Lot. It is really hard to do because of the high level of interest in football right now. Just a thought. Obviously, there would be lots of other customer advantages to advanced filters.......

Also, if there is a place to send suggestions rather than me starting a thread like this, let me know and I will be happy to do so in the future.

Thanks for having the Blue Lot as a service!!!!!
