My random thought for the day

I've talked a lot about how relationships and other factors besides money are still important. But with that said, I do believe you're going to see it hurt some coaches. There is no question each staff has a coach or two who is only there because of their recruiting. Now you may be better off hiring the best coach and letting NIL and winning pull in the same talent or better.

WVU Release Men's Soccer - West Virginia and Marshall Set to Battle for Sun Belt Title

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 16, 2024) The No. 10 West Virginia University men’s soccer team is set to play in the Sun Belt Championship Final on Sunday, Nov. 17, against No. 8 Marshall. Kickoff from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m.



The game is sold out, but students will still be able to attend for free by showing their WVU ID at the gate.



Nick Farrell and Adam Zundell have the call of Sunday's contest on ESPN+. The game also can be heard on 91.7 FM (WWVU) in Morgantown, and live stats are available at WVUsports.com.



West Virginia is the top seed in the Sun Belt Championship after winning the regular season with 19 points, two ahead of the Thundering Herd. WVU advanced to the final by defeating Georgia Southern, 3-2, and Kentucky, 2-1, in a pair of comeback victories.



The Mountaineers took home numerous Sun Belt postseason awards with graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro claiming Sun Belt Player and Offensive Player of the Year while head coach Dan Stratford was named Coach of the Year. Ors Navarro, graduate student Ryan Baer, and graduate student Max Broughton were all named to the All-Sun Belt First Team while junior Marcus Caldeira and redshirt-senior Marc Bonnaire earned spots on the second team.



Ors Navarro and senior Carlos Hernando each have two goals in the championship while senior Frederik Jorgensen has three assists. Redshirt senior Marc Bonnaire has made three saves in goal.



Marshall is the No. 2 seed in the SBC Championship and advanced to the final with wins over Old Dominion and James Madison and are 11-1-6 overall.



Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos leads Marshall with 23 points and 10 goals. Aleksa Janjic and Dan Rose have split time in net with Jancjic allowing just 0.70 goals per game in 10 matches to lead the way.
