I drove by the Coliseum today and noticed what appeared to be a large, two story addition being built on. It is facing the parking lot where the band practices / the Old baseball field.

I must've missed something - does anyone know what the addition will be used for ?

One interesting proposal is that conferences get auto-payments (which they get now anyway) per number of teams in the conference (as opposed to one lump and equal sum for each conference). As it stands now…WVU would lose money with each school added to the conference.

There‘s also speculation that SEC and Big10 will push to have more control, Surprised?

And I don't mean our head coach in football (although that will perhaps add to his difficulties). What does Wren do if Josh has a very successful season, let's say sweet 16 or better? Turn the reins over to him? Open up the head coaching search? If the team fails this year, Wren has an easy decision to make. It is much harder the more successful the team is, imo.

I am answering yes and think this season comes down to 100% coaching. We aren't a top 4 regional team but we should be around where we were last year, imo. Talent wise.

One week left until the deadline, should we see news soon about potential new additions. Also, curious what position are we going after.

WR Cortez Braham is up first.

He feels like camp has gone well for him and that he needs to be consistent as he progresses through this part of the season.

Wants to stay focused and zone out distractions, needs to focus on watching film and Penn State.

D1 is much different from JUCO to Braham, feels like he's playing against the "best of the best" every day to make himself better.

Had a good JUCO experience, played for a top junior college program.

WR's coach Bilal Marshall brings a lot of energy to practice and Braham loves him for that.

Says the biggest difference from this season to last season, is an increased role on the team and more responsibility.

I can’t image it will get the unanimous support from all 10 conferences to just go with the 12 highest ranked teams.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (August 14, 2023) – The West Virginia men’s soccer team was selected to finish third in the 2023 Sun Belt Soccer Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference on Monday.



The Mountaineers tallied 77 points, including one first-place vote. Kentucky was picked to repeat as champions with 93 points and six first-place votes while Marshall collected 91 points and two first-place votes. Sun Belt newcomer UCF came in behind West Virginia with 68 points and the final first-place vote.



South Carolina was voted fifth (49) ahead of a sixth-place tie between Georgia State and Coastal Carolina (45). From there, James Madison (40), Old Dominion (26) and Georgia Southern (16) rounded out the poll.



The Mountaineers are coming off a 7-7-4 season in 2022, including a conference record of 3-1-4 in their first season in the Sun Belt. In the Sun Belt Championship, WVU defeated Coastal Carolina before falling to Kentucky in the semifinals.



West Virginia opens the 2023 slate on Thursday, Aug. 24 against California Baptist. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET.
