Ante Up Folks

Vernon and others often post that WV has no NIL money to compete at high level in football. A common phrase is that we only have so many big monied supporters.” As if that as an absolute and that nothing can be done about. I say bullshit. How many people are Blue Lot members? How many people are avid fans and are willing to own up and help with NIL. What is 10,000 people commit to contribute $1,000 annually to improve the funding for NIL. 10,000 x $1,000 is $10 million. Times $2,000 is $20 million. You mean to tell me that among the fans, friends, and alumni of West Virginia University cannot come up with that kind of activism and support? I’m calling BS! I will commit to either of those amounts right now, but this will only work if organized, managed, and participation of a large number of let’s say “small monied donors.” So Vernon and Keenan, help me get it going. And if we can’t do this, we deserve exactly what we get, and the fans on this board and elsewhere are not what they say or think they are. And that is the truth of the matter!

A few quick thoughts

Going into yesterday's game I thought this team could win six games and had a shot at seven with some luck. That remains true in my mind. PSU is the best team WVU will play and the team did some good things against them at times.

WVU needs help at wide receiver and I think most of you realize I'm not much for making excuses over the last five years but I will say they worked really hard to get some quality receivers in the portal and simply struck out due to NIL deals. I'm not sure what the answer is there but there isn't a tremendous amount of talent in that room, at least not among the players that are ready to step up.

The defensive backs are still a concern. I didn't see the speed or athleticism you would want there but with several new faces, you may have guys out of place or not playing at full speed because they're afraid of making mistakes.

The offensive line got a good push up front but again struggled in the pass protection. PSU is loaded on the defensive line and that certainly contributed to the struggles.

Nicco not getting many snaps will not go over well. I'm not suggesting he's going to leave but if that doesn't change I would be looking to the portal for QBs next year. Well honestly, I would anyway.

I love Donaldon's potential but he's still learning. He'll learn more patience, like not running into his own linemen so often and waiting for the holes to develop. He's the perfect back to have along with others who can offer more speed and are more shifty.

I haven't been as high on Greene as many of but I still came away a little disappointed. It's tough to judge him when he's often running for his life and without great receivers. He missed some guys that were open and his arm just isn't what many of you want to believe.

One thing I will say about yesterday

is the atmosphere at Beaver Stadium reminded me of being at Louisville on steroids. I was expecting them to bring out some rappers to go along with their manufactured and scripted atmosphere.

I also found it amusing and laughed at some State Penn students yelling f you at us when we walked through the student end outside the stadium. they thought they could intimidate WVU fans. LOL.

The over 40 crowd didn’t seem to understand anything about hospitality. Seemed to be the typical NE douche bag.

Neal Brown isn’t good enough to be a P5 HC

And it has gotten downright embarrassing that we are the test dummy for his failed offensive philosophy. Five years in and absolutely zero improvement when it comes to scoring production. He is not smart enough of an offensive mind to figure it out. Seven points versus PSU’s starters in year 5.

Anyone who is still defending this guy does not care about WVU Football ever being relevant again on a national scale. He cannot take us to where we all want, and need, to get back to… he’s simply not good enough.

That is all.

Spread offense

Neil has no idea how to actually run a spread offense. The offensive line is good at opening holes for the running game. We have several good running backs and a running quarterback and we are still running drop straight back pass one back in the backfield garbage that does not work with the personnel that he has. I just don’t understand how after five years we do the same things make the same mistakes players never seem ready to play. They look gassed quicker than other teams. It’s just the same old same old. I was all about Neil Brown until the end of year three when I sadly realize that nothing was going to change under this guy. I’m not a bring Rodriguez, back kind of guy, but if Rod had this team, I promise you we were triple our offensive production.

Reading some of our competitors boards, they're surprised that Donaldson doesn't get the ball 25-30 times a game

I agree too.

CJ looks powerful with speed. Can we pound the rock with him, utilize the TE and take a few shots into the middle of the field. I hope we can simplify the games and utilize our strengths by sticking to the run game and the TE. The TE from LSU is a legit problem.
