WVSPORTS.COM West Virginia head coach Josh Eilert press conference summary

--West Virginia head coach Josh Eilert said that he learned that Noah Farrakhan has some hops. He lightened the load on them Friday for practice and gave the players the opportunity to have fresh legs and have some fun with it because it was about the fans during the Mountaineer Madness event. It wasn't a scrimmage there it was more open gym and they treated it like an all-star game.

--Eilert wishes that Farrakhan was eligible because he is a quick twitch guy and can score in the open floor. He is going to be the future here.

--Ali Ragab has bought into what they're asking of him and while he has some limitations he will find a way to get rebounds. They are excited about him and he gives Jesse Edwards a dynamic that is hard for him to score over.

--RaeQuan Battle was back in action yesterday and was full-go after the ankle injury. He looks healthy and is back in good spirits. Nothing from the NCAA yet on Battle but they hope to hear this week in a perfect scenario.

--NCAA gives you a timeframe to work with on waivers if you meet certain requirements so they typically make decisions before competition if timelines are met. Worst case scenario Battle doesn't get it and they have to do what's best for Battle so they will keep him involved and locked in. He worries about that for Battle because he really does need basketball in his life. It's something he needs on a day-to-day basis and he needs that structure and accountability. Battle can not secret scrimmage without a waiver.

--Eilert said they will look at appealing if Battle doesn't get approved but he feels like it should be rubber stamped if you know his story and why he chose West Virginia. He thinks the NCAA is going to do right by him and he'll be playing for them. That's his gut feeling.

--West Virginia will hold a closed scrimmage against an opponent so it will be refreshing to see who is going to give hard minutes or get hard rebounds. They're going to get to a point where they can narrow the rotation and the minutes become more valuable. They're throwing a lot of things at them and they are picking it up quick.

--Some of the previous West Virginia teams had instant offense off the bench and he is willing to look at that as a possibility.

--Eilert thinks the rotation will be around nine guys with them giving eight plus minutes.

--Eilert looks at points per possession and assist to turnover ratio when it comes to stats. The latter means they are playing with a lot of continuity and chemistry so if that starts to get upside down he might be throwing too much at them too quick. On Saturday that ratio was 19-14 and the week before they weren't quite at that level yet so it has a lot to do with guys making shots.

--Kerr Kriisa is a pass first guy and has great vision. On rebounding, Jesse Edwards how it translates from playing a 2-3 zone to man-to-man could look a little different. He has to study his offensive rebounds and they could compare that across Syracuse to West Virginia. Kriisa's strengths on the offensive end can negate some of his deficiencies on the defensive end and he's smart and plays the game the right way so he understands how to uncover those.

--Ofri Naveh still has family in Israel but they are in the Northern part there and most of what is going on is in the Southern. His mom, dad and sister are over there and they haven't been directly impacted but there are plenty of people he knows that have been affected in the Southern part. His dad was here a few weeks ago and even played paintball with the team.

--It's a strategy for Eilert to scrimmage as much as possible to get a feel for his team and the players to do the same. He wants them to know what to expect from him and vice versa. It's for their benefit overall. Eilert drills out a lot of defensive things and offensive sets but in the end it comes down to how they play and execute in game situations so the film is critical for the coaches on both ends of the floor. It provides carryover and a sample to sit down with the players to get on the same page.

WVSPORTS.COM West Virginia head coach Neal Brown press conference summary

--West Virginia head coach Neal Brown offered his condolences to the family of Dale Wolfley. Discusses the impact he's had on him and getting back players to Morgantown and connecting them with the current team. Said that there is no bigger fan of West Virginia football and he'll be missed.

--Asani Redwood and Russell Hammond showed out during the bye week and played well with their reps. Asani Redwood had a major knee injury and has played every game since Pitt which is remarkable. DJ Oliver had a three nice days, Johnny Williams continues to mature and grow. He has all the makings to be a really good one. Corey McIntyre is another and he continues to make plays in scrimmages as he continues to change his body. Jordan and Josiah Jackson also looked good.

--The Houston game is a great opportunity on a mid-week platform. They used the open week differently than the past because of the physical nature. Only practiced guys Wednesday and got into Houston prep Friday. A lot will be made of West Virginia playing Dana but he did a good job here. He did a really good job but the storyline is Malachi Ruffin is the only player that played under the previous staff and three guys were recruited. They have four of their former players. Mike O'Laughlin and Tony Mathis did everything they asked them to do. Noah Guzman wanted a different role and Sam Brown is playing at an extremely high level. They knew when they recruited him he was going to be talented and they didn't do a good job handling him. The game will have some emotions to it and they know that and preparing the players for it. Special teams is playing really hard and the Willis kid is playing lights out. Their kicker they know really well and their punter is really good. Biggest threat on special teams is kickoff return. Golden is electric and it's going to be a huge challenge for them to get down and cover. They are balanced on offense and it starts with Donovan Smith who was from Texas Tech. He started a multitude of games and played well. He is a coach's son and played well and he is really big. He has a big arm and they use him to run some. He can run and pass and they are very talented at the skill positions. They go deep and they have guys that can run and will take shots deep. They mix up the fronts on defense and their defensive line is big and are active with their hands and do a good job of playing their gaps. They have two guys that do a good job of rushing the passer. A team they have a lot of respect for and they are dangerous. Their back is against the wall and they are looking forward to it.

--Wyatt Milum will be a gametime decision, Tomas Rimac won't play this week and Aubrey Burks is still questionable.

--Jairo Faverus will come in and play more on defense and Caden Biser will be the next. They have some flexibility back there at safety and they have used Jacolby Spells in nickel packages, while Malachi Ruffin has played there as well. Josiah Jackson has gotten a lot of reps and have showed some signs.

--Nicco Marchiol's ankle is good and Garrett Greene is as well as the bye was good for the quarterbacks.

--When Dana comes back here for the first time it will be a bigger deal. It's been five years and it might be perceived differently if there were still a lot of guys that were still here. The fan base needs to understand I pull in and see the picture of the Orange Bowl. There is no ill will for anybody in this building to them. The theme is for them to continue to get better. This will be the first time depending on who plays on the offensive line, this is as healthy as they've been from a skill perspective. They are on the verge of playing some good offensive football. Every game is survive and advance and this happens to be the Big 12 game this week so it's about getting to 3-0.

--Emphasis program wide, they have to do a better job of starting the game. They need to get started faster.

--Brown said the offense is quite a bit different than what they had with Will Grier they're calling some quarterback run plays and read game but a lot of the pass concepts are the same.

--There is some familiarity there from an offensive standpoint just because coming from similar trees. When you get into a situation where you play everybody annually you go back and look at a lot of different previous games, but this is more like a non-conference game.

--The thing in this league that sticks out is the week to week. This has turned into a really physical conference and the week-to-week of it is tough. You have a chance to win every game but the opponent is good enough to beat you every week and a lot of the other leagues aren't like that especially at the group of five level. If you don't play somewhere close to your best then you have the opportunity to get beat.

--Coverage units have been really good minus one big return and they have covered punts well. They've been good at reducing TFLs and number of sacks given up. When they went back and said what are some things they have to do better those are some of the things they talked about is reducing those negative yardage plays and penalties.

--Brown hasn't talked to Dana but has some on his staff about coaching here.

--Brown was able to sign Sam Brown and he came in during the COVID-19 deal and that class didn't get to experience a summer and they weren't around them as much and they had a lot of transition in that room so there was a lot of different personalities and it was a young group without veteran leadership. When you look back at it you try to think what could they have done different but if he was in that room now it's a different story because they have some veterans in there. They would have done a better job mentoring him and having him come along. It was the best decision for him and us for him to leave, but when he left he had special talent if he matured. He is playing at a really high level.

--James Heard had a death in the family so he missed two practices. He made a really nice play on Wednesday, but missed Friday and Saturday. Bryce Biggs is a kid that walked on here and has gotten steadily better. Landen Livingston is much improved. And TJ Johnson and Noah Braham are coming along at tight end.

--With Houston the wide receivers can really run and are explosive. The quarterback is big and strong and breaks tackles. He can make all throws and can run to the right and throw it a long distance back to the left. On defense, it's the defensive line.

--West Virginia hasn't hit as many play action plays as they would like. The hope is you keep calling them with the intention that law of averages are going to work out. If they can hit 40-percent of those shot plays then they feel good about it. Only way he knows to get better is to work at them.

--The most important thing as the head coach is to win football games and sometimes you have to put some of your own ego away. He loves throwing the ball as much as anybody and they've had a lot of success over his career doing it and West Virginia has to get better in that. The strength of the team is on the offensive line and the job is to win games. They are playing to their strengths.

Thousands of 'special interest aliens' from Middle East countries stopped at southern border

Scary stuff. Pedo-Joe is a disgrace to our country.

Democrats, their policies and their bleaters are destroying our country

LINK: There have also been over 1.5 million 'gotaways' under the Pedo administration.

Thousands of "special interest aliens" from countries in the Middle East have been arrested by Border Patrol agents attempting to cross the U.S. southern border illegally over the last two years, internal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data leaked to Fox News show.

Special Interest aliens are people from countries identified by the U.S. government as having conditions that promote or protect terrorism or potentially pose some sort of national security threat to the U.S.

That data, confirmed by multiple CBP sources and which reflects apprehensions between ports of entry between Oct. 2021 and Oct. 2023, shows that agents encountered 6,386 nationals from Afghanistan in that period, as well as 3,153 from Egypt, 659 from Iran and 538 from Syria.

Agents also encountered 12,624 from Uzbekistan, 30,830 from Turkey, 1,613 from Pakistan, 164 from Lebanon, 185 from Jordan, 123 from Iraq and 15,594 from Mauritania.

Those numbers do not include encounters by CBP’s Office of Field Operations at ports of entry. It also does not include the numbers who have snuck past agents without detections -- sources say there have been over 1.5 million such "gotaways" during the Biden administration.

Meanwhile, FY 2023 broke the record for encounters on the FBI terror watchlist -- with 151 people encountered at the southern border between ports of entry, higher than the previous six years combined.

Border Patrol sources tell Fox they have extreme concerns about the people coming across from special interest countries, given they have little to no ways to vet them -- unless they have committed a crime in the U.S. or are some sort of federal watchlist, agents have no way of knowing their criminal history as their countries do not share data with the U.S. and so there is nothing to match their name against when they run their fingerprints.
