As the search for the next president of West Virginia University is beginning and continuing through the 2024-25 academic year, the WVU Board of Governors is committed to having diverse representation serving on the Search Committee. Different perspectives will assist in identifying the qualities of our next president and will be crucial in developing a successful candidate pool.
A constituency that will be represented on the Search Committee is our WVU students. We want to emphasize this will be a significant commitment of time to serve on this committee. Members serving will be expected to participate in several listening sessions over the summer, review numerous candidate applications and participate in multiple interview sessions. Please note that participation by proxy will not be allowed. The proposed timeline for the search process can be found at presidentialsearch.wvu.edu.
If you are a student interested in serving on the Search Committee, please review and fill out this application.
Once nominations are submitted, the Ad Hoc Governance Committee will propose a full slate to the Board of Governors. At a Special BOG meeting the week of May 27, the Board of Governors will complete a final review of the nominees and endorse a final list of Search Committee members. Selected individuals will be contacted in advance of a Special BOG meeting to be scheduled the week of May 27 to confirm their willingness to serve and abide by the confidentiality provisions outlined in Proposed BOG Governance Rule 1.3 - Presidential Selection, Contracts, and Evaluation for the Search Committee. Those not selected also will be notified.
The nomination application will be open for two weeks, closing on Thursday, May 2.
