Paladino Qualifies for Finals on Day Two


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 16, 2015) – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the second day of competition at the 2015 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championship at the Cyclone Sports Complex in Ames, Iowa, earlier this evening.



The Mountaineers had competitors in the 1,500-meter run, 800-meter run and 100-meter hurdles on Saturday.



The day’s action was highlighted by freshman Millie Paladino’s performance in the 1,500-meter run. Paladino, a Morgantown, West Virginia, native, ran a career-best 4:21.35 in the event, qualifying for tomorrow’s final scheduled for 4:50 p.m., ET.



Junior Kelly Williams just missed out on qualifying, placing 10th in the prelims in 4:27.76. Sophomore Brianna Kerekes finished 17th in the prelims in 4:34.43.



Junior Christa D’Egidio represented the Mountaineers in the 800-meter run. D’Egidio posted a season-best time of 2:15.44 in the event, placing 15th in the prelims.



In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Meghan Jean-Baptiste placed 14th in the prelims. Jean-Baptiste recorded a career-best time of 14.66 in the event.


The final day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship will begin tomorrow at 1 p.m., ET. The team championship presentations are scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
